Sophie glanced at the calendar; today was the day of Edward's theatre performance.
A week ago, Edward called her and asked her to go watch the drama competition, and Asher Land kept his word by giving Sophie a day off, so today she could finally go back to school to enjoy Edward's play.
In her wardrobe, she picked carefully and finally chose a light blue strapless floor-length dress, quite formal. She let her long, straight black hair hang beautifully behind her. Today, she had a different kind of beauty. She put on light makeup, although she usually went without makeup. For so reason, today she wanted Edward to be amazed when he saw her.
The drama competition was held in a stadium that could accommodate more than ten thousand people. When Sophie found Eva Miller, Eva had already secured a great spot to ensure they could see the stage clearly.
"Sophie, I'm so grateful to you!" Eva was so emotional she almost cried when she saw Sophie. She had asked Sophie to put in a good word for her with Asher Land to get a role, but she never thought she would be given a second lead role, which left her pleasantly surprised.
"Silly girl, just seize the opportunity and perform well." Eva was her best friend and had helped her a lot, so doing this favor wasn't much.
"Of course, I won't let you down." Eva vowed, "I didn't expect President Land to be such a good man. You see, you're not even that close to him, and yet with just a word, he gave a second lead role!"
A word? Sophie really couldn't talk about it; only heaven knows how much Asher, that sly fox, took advantage of her!
"Hey, Sophie, when will you put in a word for with President Land?" Amy ca over seriously and said to her.
"Well..." Sophie's heart skipped a beat; were they imagining that man to be too nice?
"Amy, Sophie isn't that close to President Land. Always asking him for favors might make him annoyed with her," Eva defended her, and Sophie quickly nodded in agreent.
"What? You got a second lead role yourself, and now you're making sarcastic remarks?" Amy grumbled in dissatisfaction.
"Alright, alright, Amy, I'll find an opportunity to speak up for you," Sophie reluctantly agreed.
"You're so kind, Sophie, thank you," Amy bead with joy, while Sophie could no longer smile.
She glanced down at the ti; the drama performance was about to begin.
"Anyway, what I'm most looking forward to is Edward's performance. You don't know, nine out of ten girls here ca to see Edward," Eva whispered beside her.
"Is, is that so?" Sophie felt a bit uneasy. She knew Edward was a heartthrob, always surrounded by admiring girls. Saying she wasn't jealous would be a lie.
"I wonder why Edward chose Isabella Yates as his partner. She originally didn't have the opportunity to act; Edward's partner was soone else, but I heard she begged Edward," Eva gossiped, "By the way, Sophie, you're very close to Edward, there's nothing special between him and Isabella, right?"
"Not at all," Sophie firmly denied. Everyone knew she was close to Edward, but they didn't know they were childhood friends who grew up together. Sotis, she even had a little narcissistic thought that Edward might have so feelings for her.
After all, being with him for twenty-one years, she has never seen him have a girlfriend. Edward treated her very well, and everyone could see that.
He often bought her breakfast and brought it to her class. They often went to the library together to study. Whenever she had sothing on her mind, he was always the first to rush to her side, listening intently to whatever she had to say, even if she was just complaining and losing her temper.
