Nolan Davis took Sophie Smith to the hospital, and the doctor cleaned her wound. When he saw the deep red cut, he couldn’t help but frown. He thought she would also be afraid of the pain, but she didn’t make a sound. The doctor and Nolan exchanged glances, feeling that sothing was off about her.
After cleaning the wound, Nolan planned to have her stay in the hospital for so ti to recuperate. She had just co to her senses after the car accident, and little did she know, she had been hit by a car again...
But Sophie was adamantly against staying in the hospital, and she was utterly sick of the pungent sll of disinfectant.
As soon as she saw the lifeless atmosphere in the hospital, she inexplicably felt tight discomfort in her heart.
"Mr. Davis, I, I don’t want to stay here. I want to go back."
Nolan Davis didn’t know where she ant by going back.
"Anywhere, as long as it’s not the hospital," she said, lowering her head and thinking for a mont, "why don’t we go back to the Davis Family."
"What did you... say?" Nolan Davis was in shock and couldn’t recover for a long ti. Had she agreed to go back to the Davis Family with him?
"I’ll go back to the Davis Family with you. I’ve been away too long, and Alexander must miss as well." A helpless smile appeared on her lips, "If Asher Land recovers, it will be easier for him to find too."
Her expression now was extrely rational, so much so that Nolan Davis had a montary illusion that she had walked out of ’that tragedy.’
"Mr. Davis, are, are you unwilling to let return to the Davis Family now?"
Seeing that Nolan Davis didn’t speak for a long ti, Sophie jokingly said to him for the first ti.
"Oh, no, of course not..." Nolan Davis was uncharacteristically at a loss, "I’m eager for you to co back with ."
"Okay, then it’s settled. We’ll leave tomorrow."
"Alright."
The over half a month’s trip in the United States had co to an end, coming and going in haste as if it was an unrealistic dream.
...
In the ti that followed, although Sophie never ntioned Asher Land’s na, it was evident to anyone with clear eyes that she had changed.
When no one was watching her, her face was almost expressionless, and she could lose herself staring at a place for a long ti. But if soone saw her, the corners of her mouth would curl into a faint smile, concealing all her sorrowful emotions.
Eva Miller went upstairs to call Sophie down for dinner when she was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the continuously falling snowflakes, lost in thought.
She recalled that winter a year ago, a winter filled with mories for her.
Back then, in order to make Christopher Smith leave Oliver Johnson, she ended up stealing his company’s confidential files under Oliver Johnson’s instructions.
He was furious and left her in the basent, locked up for two days and nights.
Later, because of this matter, she saw her true inner feelings. She realized she loved him, and betraying him made her heart ache...
She sniffed and took a deep breath from the bottom of her heart.
Eva stood at the door, unable to stop shaking her head.
"Sophie, it’s ti to co down for dinner..."
Upon hearing Eva Miller’s voice, Sophie quickly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with the back of her hand, then turned around with a smile.
"Eva, I feel like I can’t eat much. Could you please tell Mr. Davis?" Sophie indeed felt a bit troubled. Every al was the most painful ti for her; her appetite was terribly poor, and she couldn’t eat a thing, but once she sat at the dining table and saw Nolan Davis and Eva Miller’s eager looks, she would continually stuff food into her mouth.
