"Hey, Sophie, what are you doing!" Eva Miller also opened the car door and ran out, only to see Sophie acting like she was going insane, chasing after the vehicle that had already driven far away.
"Stop!" Eva took off her high heels and tossed them aside.
Sophie chased the car for a long distance, but it was ultimately in vain. As the car turned a corner, under the streetlight’s glow, she clearly rembered the car’s license plate number.
Eva, after running for a few minutes, finally caught up.
"What’s wrong with you?" Eva exclaid, surprised and shocked. "Your behavior is so unusual, it really scared ."
"Eva..." Sophie stared in the direction where the car disappeared, murmuring to herself.
"What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly?" Eva dug her ear, "Speak louder."
"I... I think I saw Irene..." Her voice was a mix of excitent and disbelief, each word trembling with emotion.
"Irene? Irene Morton?" Eva shouted, "Oh my god, you must be seeing things. If you saw Irene, then did you see President Land?"
Sophie shook her head.
"I’m also not very sure, I... I just felt those eyes were so much like Irene’s..." Sophie stamred, "If Irene really returned to Eastern City, then Asher Land must be here too, right?"
"Sigh, I say, Sophie, don’t be so hysterical. If President Land truly returned, how could he not co to find you?"
Now Eva was even more certain that Sophie must have been seeing things.
She pulled the dazed Sophie back into the car to sit quietly, waiting for the towing company to arrive.
...
The black sedan stopped in front of a European-style villa on a hillside.
"Miss Morton, Mr. Land, we have arrived."
The driver got out of the car and opened the door on the side of the back seat.
Irene gestured to the driver to be silent, signaling him to leave temporarily. The driver received the order, nodded slightly, and took a few steps back.
Irene turned her head, looking at Asher, leaning against the car seat, legs crossed, eyes closed, resting. A subtle smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
With one hand supporting her head, she devoted herself to observing the man before her.
Compared to four years ago, his domineering and cold deanor seed much softened now.
His handso facial features were like sculpted, sharply defined, and extraordinarily attractive. Irene particularly liked to look at his eyelashes closely, long and thick.
The previously tanned skin had turned fairer due to his illness over the past few years, appearing sowhat pale, but it didn’t affect his innate elegance and nobility.
This was simply part of his nature.
"Brother Asher, we’re ho." She didn’t dare speak loudly, cautiously reminding him by his ear.
Only a soft ’mm’ sound escaped his lips, without even opening his eyes. Irene waited patiently for a long ti, but nothing more followed.
She said nothing further, just quietly sat beside him.
After about forty minutes, he seed to have rested enough and finally opened his eyes.
Due to the dication, his sleep had been particularly deep recently.
"Have we been here long?" He spoke softly, his dark eyes montarily unfocused.
"Oh, no, we just got here a little while ago, Brother Asher. If you’re tired, go to your room and rest first. Later, I’ll have soone bring the food up."
