The four walked together to the underground parking lot. Just as Robert Williams was about to open the car door, Asher Land stopped him.
"You take Irene back."
Having said this, he turned around and walked over to Sophie Smith, opened the car door, and sat down in the passenger seat.
Sophie Smith saw Asher Land already in the car, so without thinking too much, she quickened her pace, also preparing to head over.
Under Irene Morton’s resentful gaze, she returned to her car.
"Are... are we going to my place?" she asked with so uncertainty.
He felt his head was still a bit foggy; his head rested against the seatback, slightly tilted toward the car window. Hearing Sophie Smith’s question, he just casually responded with a "hmm."
Knowing he was a bit exhausted, Sophie Smith didn’t disturb him much, quietly driving the car, though occasionally she would turn her head to look at his sleeping face.
Actually, when this man is asleep, he doesn’t give off a strong domineering impression; rather, he unwittingly exudes a touch of tenderness.
His fair skin, long eyelashes, high nose bridge, sensuous thin lips, angular facial contours...
This man seems to be ticulously crafted by God.
Sophie Smith once again found herself lost in thought over him.
Realizing she was still driving, for the safety of both of them, she decided it was necessary to stop her infatuated behavior.
She withdrew her gaze, eyes resting on the straight road ahead.
Thinking about how today he chose her in front of Irene Morton at the hospital, her heart was filled with inexplicable joy.
After all, last ti at the hospital, they seed to have a minor conflict, didn’t they?
Sophie Smith’s mind hadn’t stopped wandering until the car parked downstairs, bringing her back to reality.
She unbuckled the seatbelt but found that Asher Land still had his eyes closed.
Was he asleep?
She dared not make a sound, holding her breath; even her breathing was sowhat uneven, afraid of waking him.
One of the consequences of having too much dication is drowsiness.
Asher Land was experiencing it firsthand, even though he tried hard to stay alert, his eyelids stubbornly closed.
When he awoke, the sky was tinged with a layer of evening glow, red and beautiful.
Sophie Smith quickly retrieved her gaze that had rested on him all afternoon as she saw him open his eyes.
"Why didn’t you wake ?" he said, sowhat annoyed, displeased that she had seen this side of him, which he didn’t like or wasn’t accustod to.
"Oh, how could I dare?" Sophie Smith laughed lightly, "I’m so afraid you’d lose your temper with ."
"Have I lost my temper with you recently?"
"Doesn’t last ti at the hospital count?"
"I was rely calmly asking you to leave."
"..."
Alright, it indeed doesn’t count. In her mory, if Asher Land were genuinely angry, he would either throw things, yell at her, or grab her by the throat, wishing she would just die...
Of course, that was a long, long ti ago.
So long that she had almost forgotten.
Asher Land shook his head; it seed that he would have to be careful in the future, or else she’d think she had upset him, feeling wronged in the process.
The two got out of the car and pressed the elevator going to the apartnt.
She knocked on the door twice, then heard so tiny, scattered sounds inside before the door was sowhat awkwardly opened.
Alexander raised his head high, looking at Asher Land standing outside the door, his little eyes sowhat evasive.
