In the middle of the night, Alexander was startled awake.
"Mommy, what’s wrong?" Sophie Smith was very uncomfortable, making faint noises like she was crying.
"I’m fine, Alexander, go back to sleep..." She weakly spoke, her voice intermittent, and Alexander could barely hear her clearly.
"Mommy, are you, are you sick?" Alexander climbed out of bed, turned on the light, and couldn’t help but open his little mouth when he saw Sophie on the bed.
Her clothes and hair were drenched in sweat, she curled up her body, holding her belly with her hands, her facial expressions sowhat contorted.
"Mommy..." Alexander was at a loss, almost on the verge of crying.
"Alexander, don’t panic, Mommy is fine, I just need a little rest, could you, could you help get a glass of hot water?" As soon as Sophie finished speaking, Alexander imdiately ran to the kitchen and quickly brought her a glass of hot water.
As if he suddenly rembered sothing, he burst into the living room.
Mommy’s like this, she needs urgent help, but who should he call?
Uncle Davis or that grumpy uncle?
Alexander was a bit uncertain.
He rembered Nolan Davis’s number. Last ti at Asher Land’s house, Asher left his number with Alexander, actually, he just didn’t like Alexander always calling Nolan whenever sothing happened.
Alexander took out his backpack, found his little notebook inside, and it had Asher Land’s number written on it.
He really thought for a long ti before deciding to forgo Nolan Davis and call him instead.
After dialing a string of numbers, Alexander put the phone to his ear, waiting for it to connect.
One ring, two rings, three rings...
Just when Alexander was about to hang up in disappointnt, the call was unexpectedly connected.
"Hello, uncle, are you ho now? Please co over to my place, okay? My mommy is very sick, very, very serious..."
As soon as the call connected, Alexander started sobbing.
"Hello, uncle, are you there..."
There was no response from the other side.
Irene Morton held the phone in one hand and a teacup in the other, with an inscrutable smile on her lips.
She had just co downstairs for a drink of water and happened to hear Asher Land’s forgotten phone ringing on the living room sofa, ...
"You’re Alexander, right?" Irene spoke gently, "I’m the aunt you t last ti at the Land Family. Your uncle is sleeping upstairs right now. I’ll go wake him, and I’ll pass your ssage on to him, ..."
"Oh, thank you, auntie."
Alexander rembered Irene, and hearing her say that, he felt relieved.
After hanging up, Alexander anxiously began waiting for Asher Land to arrive.
Sophie rolled around in bed, her pain preventing her from sleeping. She kept her eyes closed, trying hard to stay conscious, she was really scared of passing out and not waking up...
anwhile, Irene put down the phone, calmly finished her water, and went upstairs.
When she passed by Asher Land’s room, she didn’t stay for a mont and returned to her own room.
Ha, she would never convey Alexander’s ssage to him.
The last thing she wanted was to see Asher Land tirelessly working for another woman.

He sat on the floor, watching Sophie, who hadn’t slept all night because of the pain, tears streaming down his face.
