Friday afternoon.
Irene Morton found Asher Land in his office.
"Brother Asher, my father is coming here tomorrow. If you have ti..." Irene stood in front of his desk, speaking softly.
"I’ll ask Robert Williams to go with you." He looked down at the file in his hand without lifting his head.
"Why can’t you co with ? It won’t take long to get to the airport." Irene bent down, snatched the file he was reading, closed it, and tossed it aside.
Asher Land was sowhat displeased with Irene’s action.
"I have to work overti tomorrow, I don’t have the ti."
"You’re lying!" Irene seed prepared for his evasive answer, "I asked your secretary, you have no schedule tomorrow."
"I don’t want to argue with you." Asher Land knew that if they continued to stalemate like this, another quarrel might erupt. He stood up and fastened the two buttons on his shirt that he’d casually undone, intending to walk out the door.
"Brother Asher..." Irene grabbed his wrist, "I’m begging you, okay?"
Irene’s voice was sowhat aggrieved, "My dad hasn’t been in good health for the past two years, yet I haven’t been by his side to fulfill my duty as a daughter. I truly feel sorry for him..."
Asher Land did not push her away, which ignited a glimr of hope in her heart.
She thought, he should understand what she ant.
The reason she hadn’t been by Colton Morton’s side in the past two years was all because she insisted on staying by his side to take care of him, wasn’t it?
"What ti does your father arrive tomorrow?"
Irene felt a surge of joy in her heart. Judging by his tone, did that an he agreed?
"7:50 in the evening." Irene blinked at him, "I knew it, Brother Asher, you’re the best."
Perhaps there was no harm in picking up Colton Morton once. After all, four years ago in Europe, he did him a big favor. If he hadn’t been willing to pretend to be the will’s notary, Golden Era wouldn’t have fallen into the hands of the three brothers so easily...

The plane landed at the airport punctually and on ti. Irene and Asher Land got out of the car, and she habitually went to hold his arm.
"What are you doing?" He was sowhat resistant, instinctively taking her hand away.
"Co on, you already ca to the airport, just go along with ..."
"Go along with what?"
"Make my father think we’re still in love. You don’t know, recently he’s been calling , very concerned about my lifelong matters..."
"What’s that got to do with ?" Asher Land interrupted Irene unceremoniously.
"Of course it has to do with you, I already told my father, the person I want to marry... is you."
"Irene, how many tis do you want to say it?"
Irene looked up and didn’t see the expected outburst of anger, but from his eyes, she could see his helplessness, his disappointnt.
"Whether you think I’m heartless or cold-blooded, this ti, I think we both need to make a clean decision and stop being entangled, okay?"

Irene felt a sharp pain in her heart, and she tried hard to compose herself, deceiving herself into thinking he must be joking with those words.
The reason he said that today was entirely because of what Sophie Smith had said to him a few days ago.
She said, "Asher Land, I’m not forcing you, but I really hope you can quickly handle your relationship with Irene. For the past four years, I know that Irene has been deeply in love with you, but I really don’t want to wait another four years for you."
