In the past two years, Colton Morton’s health has not been very good. He knows that he might not live much longer, but he always had Irene on his mind. So, despite his frail condition and the family’s opposition, he rushed from Europe to Eastern City.
"Asher, has work been going smoothly for you recently?" Although Colton Morton was sowhat displeased with Asher Land now, he naturally couldn’t show it.
"Thank you for your concern, Uncle Morton. Everything’s been going well."
Colton Morton carefully sized up Asher Land, noticing a bruise at the corner of his mouth. This was obviously a sign of being hit. But who would dare lay a hand on him?
Thinking about it, Colton Morton cast a doubtful glance at Irene. Irene seed to know what was on Colton Morton’s mind and guiltily lowered her head.
Now, Colton Morton was even more certain of his suspicions.
Asher Land continued chatting with Colton Morton all the way to the parking lot.
Asher Land even took the initiative to put Colton Morton’s luggage in the trunk, despite Robert Williams wanting to help. Asher, however, didn’t let him.
This act of Asher personally attending to matters surprisingly made Colton Morton develop a good impression of him.
"Robert, you take Uncle Morton and them back. I still have so things to do today, so I won’t be accompanying you."
"Brother Asher..." Irene looked at him with pleading eyes, hoping he would show her so respect in front of her father. But Asher had already resolved to keep his distance from her, so no matter how much she pleaded or even if she kneeled, he remained indifferent...
Asher hailed a taxi, which drove off in the opposite direction.
Inside the car.
Irene wore a sullen expression, visibly displeased.
"Irene, did you have another falling out with Asher?" Colton Morton asked.
"Did I..." Irene replied gloomily.
"That injury on Asher’s face — you did that, didn’t you?" Colton Morton said with a knowing look. "What were you thinking?"
Colton Morton sighed deeply, his tone full of helplessness. "I know you like Asher, but he just doesn’t have feelings for you. Why not try finding soone else who cares for you, who loves you? My daughter, Irene Morton, is so outstanding — surely she won’t struggle to find a man?"
Four years ago, he had advised Irene to leave Asher Land. Yet, not only did Irene ignore him, but she disappeared with Asher for four years.
"Dad, please don’t persuade . I’ve decided on Brother Asher for this lifeti." Irene turned her head towards the window, seemingly unwilling to continue the conversation with Colton Morton over this issue.
"Since you love him and want to have him, why did you hurt Asher? By causing such a scene, he probably feels even less for you now, right?"
Even less feeling?
"Ha, whether he has feelings or not has nothing to do with this slap."
On this point, Irene was still self-aware.
Ha, Asher Land simply has no feelings for her.

"Sir, where are you headed?" The honest taxi driver glanced at the man in the back seat, who appeared cold and dignified, and asked quietly.
Where to?
He hadn’t decided.
It was late; if he were to visit Sophie Smith now, it might disturb her and her son’s rest.
He seemingly couldn’t be so ’reckless.’
"Just take to a nearby hotel." He spoke in a sowhat weary voice.
