Sophie Smith’s body stiffened; his humiliation was direct and naked.
Since Asher Land arrived at the celebration banquet, everyone’s attention had been focused on him. No one knew what he had just whispered in Sophie Smith’s ear, but they saw her suddenly blush.
"Miss Smith, have another drink. I think you can handle your alcohol pretty well," Asher Land deliberately teased, holding his glass out to her.
Drink it then! That damn Asher Land, does he have to make a fool of her to feel happy?
Without hesitation, Sophie Smith took the glass from his hand, closed her eyes, and downed it in one gulp.
Perhaps because she drank it too quickly, she choked and couldn’t stop coughing.
Asher Land didn’t relent; instead, he poured another glass.
Sophie Smith knew he was upset, surely because she had just toasted Wyatt Sterling, so he wanted to keep tornting her.
Sophie Smith picked up the glass, only to find a strong hand grabbing her wrist.
She looked up in astonishnt and t Wyatt Sterling’s worried eyes.
"You should drink less."
Sophie Smith’s gaze wavered, for a mont she thought his tone was full of affection for her.
She quietly put the glass down.
Asher Land coldly snorted, his expression darkened — was she now capable of joining forces with another man to defy him?
Sitting beside Anna, seeing Sophie Smith anger Asher Land, thought her chance had co, and the corners of her mouth lifted into a coquettish smile, her soft body leaning towards Asher Land.
"President Land, you just want soone to drink with you, right? Anna can join you; don’t let certain tactless won ruin your mood."
Clearly, Anna’s words were directed at Sophie Smith.
Sophie Smith thought Asher Land would explode with rage at this critical mont. After all, if she had angered him before, he would make her taste the consequences within three seconds, but not today.
Now he was the CEO of Golden Era Consortium, the investor of "City of Desire," not her sponsor.
So he would surely maintain his gentlemanly deanor and the elegance and poise of a noble.
He casually took the glass from Anna’s hand, the corners of his mouth curved into a smile that could dazzle won, feeding the drink to her, as Anna blinked her watery, large eyes and then drank the glass clean without hesitation.
Everyone thought Asher Land’s mood had improved a bit and couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Anna continually threw herself into Asher Land’s arms, and he cooperated with a broad smile.
She didn’t know if she should thank Anna, after all, she made Asher Land unhappy, but ultimately it was Anna who made him happy.
The celebration banquet lasted nearly three hours before finally ending; after the al, everyone dispersed.
Asher Land and Anna seed reluctant to part, and Sophie Smith thought to herself, was he going to take Anna back to the apartnt again? If so, she might as well have gone straight to a hotel today.
Just as she was thinking, Anna appeared in front of Sophie Smith, holding Asher Land’s arm.
"Sophie Smith, where are you going?" Anna spoke with unabashed glee.
Sophie Smith looked up at Asher Land, only to find him staring at her indifferently.
"Going ho to rest." On a whim, Sophie Smith uttered four words.
Ho?
Asher Land’s body stiffened, seemingly shocked by her choice of word.
Her hotown was in Southern County, but it was too late for her to return there; she had always stayed by his side, not having a place in Eastern City, so the ho she ntioned could only be one.
That was the apartnt belonging to both him and her.
