Throughout the night, she barely had a mont of peace.
The nightmares tornted her endlessly, preventing her from sleeping soundly.
Early in the morning, she suddenly scread and sat up from the bed.
She clutched her chest, gasping for breath.
After a good ten minutes, she finally ca to her senses.
As if recalling sothing, she turned her head to glance at the man beside her, expecting to have disturbed him, only to find she hadn’t...
Because he hadn’t slept a wink all the night, how could there be any disturbance?
Looking at his slightly weary expression, a pang of guilt hit her heart, but she said nothing.
After getting dressed, she went to the bathroom. Once she was freshened up, she skipped breakfast and went straight to Alexander’s room.
Alexander hadn’t gotten up yet, his small body curled up under the covers.
"Sweetie, Alexander, let’s not sleep anymore, alright? Mommy is taking you ho today..." Sophie Smith softly coaxed in Alexander’s ear, accidentally catching sight of sothing at the door. Sohow, Asher Land had followed her there. He stood with his arms crossed, half-leaning on the doorfra, staring at her with a complex gaze as she crouched by the bed calling Alexander to get up.
Sophie steadied her nerves, completely ignoring Asher Land’s intensely pressuring gaze, and continued calling Alexander.
About ten minutes later, Alexander finally poked his little head out from under the covers, groggily mumbling.
"Alexander..."
Just as Sophie was about to speak, Alexander interrupted her unceremoniously.
"Mommy, the ti is still early. Can you tell whatever it is later?"
Sophie was rendered speechless.
Unwillingly, she glanced at Asher Land standing at the door, hesitated for a mont, but finally was forced to leave Alexander’s room.
She went downstairs, and the maid imdiately brought over breakfast.
"Take it away, I don’t want to eat." Sophie’s tone was icy cold, probably because Asher Land was sitting opposite her.
In the eyes of the maids, Sophie was usually a woman as gentle as could be. Although the maids hadn’t been at the Land Family for long, they had never seen Sophie show a bad attitude towards them.
But today, Miss Smith’s temper seed a bit different.
"You’re angry with , that’s fine, but don’t make jokes about your own health." Asher Land signaled to the maid, who imdiately understood. She was about to take the breakfast away from in front of Sophie, but she instantly withdrew her hand.
"I said, I’m not eating!"
Sophie pulled back the chair as if to stand up, but he quickly ca over and pressed her shoulder.
"Do you want to personally shove all of this into your mouth?"
His tone allowed no hint of joking.
But right now, she didn’t buy into his authoritarianism at all.
She simply reached out and swept the dining plates to the floor.
The maids were startled by the sudden noise, retreating several steps, almost retreating to the dining room entrance.
Now, the young master of the house and Miss Smith were like on a battlefield, determined to fight to the death.
Asher Land too beca annoyed, as she used her health to defy him, to provoke him?
She didn’t even notice what kind of state she was in now.
No color at all on her face, her already thin fra had beco even frailer over the past few days. Those previously captivating eyes of hers now appeared slightly swollen and sowhat hollow.
