The chief doctor gave her many instructions, and she listened attentively.
Sophie’s gaze swept over the people in the room, and as a hint of disappointnt flashed in her bright, clear eyes, everyone understood what she was thinking.
"Sophie, are you thinking about my third brother?"
Luke Land asked tentatively from the side.
He suddenly rembered that before Asher Land went to the United States for surgery, he had left a recording for her.
At this point, it was ti to let her listen to it.
He took the phone he was carrying from his bag and handed it to her.
"This... Asher Land’s phone?" Sophie was a bit surprised, "Why is it with you?"
"Don’t worry, I didn’t steal or rob it. There’s a recording inside with things my third brother wanted to tell you. If you want to listen, listen; if not, you can throw his phone in the trash, I don’t mind." Luke shrugged, looking indifferent.
Sophie tightly gripped the phone, her brows slightly furrowed.
She hesitated for a while, but eventually unlocked the phone and found the recording.
She looked up at the people in the room, and it seed no one intended to leave.
So, should she play the recording for everyone to hear?
Sophie felt a bit uncertain inside.
"Hey, Sophie, are you listening or not? If you don’t want to, give the phone. I’ll hide in the bathroom and listen to see what President Land actually said." Eva Miller pretended to snatch the phone from Sophie.
Sophie tilted her hand, avoiding Eva.
With so nervousness, she pressed the play button.
For the first few seconds, the phone was silent.
Just as Sophie was about to put the phone away and stop the recording, Asher Land’s voice suddenly ca through.
Less cold and arrogant than usual, this ti, he spoke with a sense of lancholy and loss, his voice low and deep.
"Sophie, I’m going to the United States. I’m sorry that I can’t be by your side when you’re hurt."
Inexplicably, her eyes began to sting.
He was going to the United States for surgery too, but why in front of her did he show a sense of guilt and remorse?
He wasn’t wronging her by going to the United States.
"I don’t know when you’ll forgive . I’ve been longing in my heart that this day won’t be too far away, but every ti I see you, you always seem to reject and distance yourself from ..."
His tone was very hurt.
Sophie recalled when she was hospitalized, he stayed by her side all night long, but as soon as she woke up and had so consciousness, she’d make him leave, saying she didn’t want to see him. Perhaps not directly with heart-wrenching words, but her actions told him everything—her ’dislike,’ her ’hatred’...
Even if it was all an act, to him, it was incredibly real, making him feel like sothing unwanted in her eyes.
"I don’t know the chances of success for this surgery, but I hope I can live to see you again."
He said, I hope I can live to see you again.
Live?
Upon hearing this, Sophie couldn’t hold back any longer, and tears began to fall from her eyes.
Her action startled everyone around.
She pretended to be nonchalant, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, and continued to listen.
"Sophie, if I get better,..."
There was a montary pause on the other end of the phone, as if he was hesitating about sothing.
"If I get better, let’s get married, okay? Let’s go to Bali Island, the place you always wanted to visit."
