"Of course, at first I thought Xu Qingquan was with for money, and I was very cautious about that, but after getting to know him better, I found that, although he didn’t have as many assets as I do, he definitely wasn’t soone short of money, and he was even quite generous to ," she said.

"The eting records you ntioned are all in WeChat, he bought many gifts, and they are all separately stored at my house. The most expensive one is a car, which I seldom drive, just to the store, and I et a lot of people, but mostly they are parents and their children."

"I understand what you’re implying. Let think if I’ve t anyone who is the sa age as and looks like Shi Yun. One could say I’ve combed through my mories. Among the people I know, apart from Li Li and Liu iling, there’s no one unmarried who is about my age, and none of my employees either. Here is the staff information from Qindao and Hesheng, you can take a look," she added.

Liu Yufei took Zhang Fangfang’s phone, which displayed a lot of personal information, just like a registration form, with various detailed information ranging from na, sex, and alma mater, to ID card number, photocopy, and ho address. Clearly, Zhang Fangfang was a cautious person.

After scanning through the content, it was evident that the people listed were either about twenty years old, students majoring in music who had not yet graduated, or they were over thirty-five years old with various certificates, qualified to tune instrunts and teach classes, and of course, predominantly male.

After reviewing, Liu Yufei frowned slightly. Judging from Zhang Fangfang’s deanor, she didn’t seem to be lying. Could it be that Shi Yun hadn’t approached her?

But then, considering the manner of death of Li Li and Liu iling, it appeared that Shi Yun had no reason to spare Zhang Fangfang.

Just then, Zhou Ning’s phone rang. He received two ssages from Mr. Qu, one text and one video.

The text ssage read:

"Chief, I found a piece of surveillance footage from the evening of September 7th at 20:44, the audio is very quiet, but I’ve enhanced it. It’s a conversation between Xu Qingquan and Kong Wanshan, you should listen to the content."

Xu Dayuan looked over and nudged Zhou Ning’s arm.

"Quickly play it, turn up the volu," he suggested.

Zhou Ning nodded, turned the volu up to maximum, and pressed play.

In the footage, one of Xu Qingquan’s legs was hung up high, as if he was tired of lying there and wanted to move. He grunted twice, then a middle-aged woman in a caregiver’s uniform ca over, helping him raise the bed a bit, positioning it so the surveillance cara could see the upper half of Xu Qingquan’s face.

The caregiver asked Xu Qingquan if he wanted to eat anything.

Xu Qingquan just shook his head without speaking. After all, he had been in a coma for several days and had been on a ventilator for a good amount of ti, so his throat must have been uncomfortable, which was normal.

Just then, the door opened and soone entered. The person did not walk into the range of the cara. The caregiver, seeing the visitor, quickly greeted him.

She called out as if to say ’Sir!’

The person who entered seed to make a gesture, and the caregiver nodded and hurried out. As the door closed, a chubby figure walked to the left side of Xu Qingquan’s bed, and Zhou Ning also saw clearly that the person was indeed Kong Wanshan.

He stared at Xu Qingquan without greeting him, his face void of any expression. He crossed the IV and oxygen tubes in his hands, pinching them, visibly panicking the bedridden Xu Qingquan. He waved his right hand, but his fingers were restrained by clips for monitoring purposes, impeding his movents. After failing to free himself twice, he finally croaked:

"What are you doing? Mr. Kong, you don’t want to be Mr. Nice Guy anymore? In front of my sister, weren’t you quite the pretender?"

Kong Wanshan laughed, moving a bit closer to Xu Qingquan.

"Don’t waste words with . The money you’ve spent is all my earnings. Even though the capital I used to get started was given by your dad and your sister, I only rember their kindness, not yours, you good-for-nothing. How did you get involved with Li Li?"

Xu Qingquan grinned with a sneer.

"Can’t you handle it anymore? Li Li was enough of a flirt, and she had plenty of experience too, I bet you couldn’t satisfy her taste. After all, even when I was with her, it took electric toys to get the party started, haha!"

Kong Wanshan glanced at the oxygen tube and the IV in his hand, then looked back at Xu Qingquan with a scrutinizing gaze.

"You haven’t lost your mory?"

Xu Qingquan didn’t respond, just grinned cheekily at Kong Wanshan, who then let go of the tubes and took another look at Xu Qingquan, seemingly coming to an understanding.

"Are you afraid of what the police might ask, or do you actually know sothing?"

Xu Qingquan shook his head.

"If I knew anything, I wouldn’t be lying here. Brother-in-law, I know why you’re angry, but a woman is just for fun, don’t take it too seriously. Now that Li Li is dead, you think you can’t get the house you gave her back, right?

You don’t need to worry about that. My sister has already consulted a lawyer. In cases like Li Li’s, the property you gave cannot be reclaid. When she dies, it goes to her relatives, and you just have to accept your bad luck."

Kong Wanshan shook his head, leaning towards Xu Qingquan’s ear.

"Your sister went to the criminal police departnt. What exactly did the police ask? Why does she refuse to tell no matter how much I ask? I want to know who the culprit is. Do you have any recollection from the ti of the car accident?"

Xu Qingquan pursed his lips, falling silent for a mont, then looked back at Kong Wanshan with that sa indifferent smile.

"If I say I saw soone, would you believe ?"

"You’re my brother-in-law, who would I trust if not you?"

Xu Qingquan waved his hand dismissively.

"Let’s not talk like that, I don’t trust you. You only believe in yourself. If I really told you sothing, you’d be the first to jump out and accuse of lying."

Kong Wanshan stared at Xu Qingquan, silent for a long ti.

"So, you saw, and you truly rember. Do you know who it was?"

"What? Want to tell her and then let her make a move on ?"

Zhou Ning paused.

The killer, Kong Wanshan, knew and trusted soone imnsely, a judgnt that made him hastily turn up the volu even more. Although Mr. Qu had already noise-reduced the audio, the sound of machinery inside still had an impact.

"Go ahead, I trust you."

Xu Qingquan grabbed Kong Wanshan’s hand and poked at his phone, not typing but seemingly looking for a contact. When Kong Wanshan saw where Xu Qingquan’s finger stopped, he suddenly turned pale.

"How is that possible? Are you just humoring ?"

Xu Qingquan wore an ’I knew it would be like this’ expression, staring unwaveringly at Kong Wanshan, who then realized that he had been too agitated just now.

"Don’t tell you have no other thoughts about her. Did you et with Li Li the day she got into trouble?"

Kong Wanshan pursed his lips tightly.

"What exactly is your sister hiding?"

Xu Qingquan snorted twice.

"After graduation, my sister interned at the daily newspaper for two years. She wanted to stay there, you know about this, right?"

"Of course, it’s the friend our dad contacted but they were unreliable, and she couldn’t get a permanent post. What does this have to do with your sister being called by the police?"

"During the ’98 National Day holidays, my sister took a few photos. It was about a teacher saving soone by the seaside. The three people he saved included Li Li and her group. However, due to a misunderstanding, the teacher was pressured by several parents, his wife died accidently, and he committed suicide by jumping off a building to prove his innocence. This teacher left behind a daughter about the sa age as Li Li."

In just a few sentences Kong Wanshan’s face was filled with shock after hearing them.

"How could that be? So, the police think she might seek revenge on your sister too?"

Kong Wanshan was not stupid; he grasped the crucial point just by hearing a few words. Xu Qingquan laughed and pointed to his leg, saying,

"This is karma for , isn’t it? If she could recognize you, be favored by my sister, even get close to , and be as intimate with the children as she was, what do you think is impossible?"

"So, you pretended to have amnesia, had soone reveal to her about your affairs, and encouraged her to break off the engagent with you?"

Zhou Ning was startled and then clicked pause before looking up at Xu Dayuan.

"Is Zhong Xiaoyan the real Shi Yun?"

Xu Dayuan nodded and quickly took out his phone, dialing a number and then gestured to Mr. Zhao.

"You go call Fang Mu over, then get everyone from the first and second squads together. We’re going to initiate a capture operation soon."

The call connected; it was Liu Yufei in the next interrogation room.

"I sent you a photo of Zhong Xiaoyan. Have Zhang Fangfang take a look and see if she recognizes this person or if she has had any contact with her."

Liu Yufei instinctively looked at the one-way glass. Xu Dayuan’s tone said it all. Without wasting any words, she hung up the call, picked up the photo of Zhong Xiaoyan, and handed it over to Zhang Fangfang.

"Do you recognize this person?"

Zhang Fangfang glanced at it, seeming hardly able to believe it, and then leaned in closer to look.

"She looks like Qiqi’s mom, oh, more accurately, Qiqi’s stepmother. She would sotis bring Qiqi to my shop for classes, bought two pianos from my shop, both top brands. We have a pretty good relationship. What’s wrong with her?"

Liu Yufei stood up and waved to Mr. Bai at her side.

"You take over the questioning. Get Zhang Fangfang to clarify everything related to Qiqi’s mom, including contact information. Get the Hesheng City police to help verify this family, and have the forensic departnt draw blood from Zhang Fangfang for all toxin screening, as well as the previous Vitamin A tests."

Zhang Fangfang was confused. Liu Yufei spoke very rapidly, and without asking her anything further, she turned and walked out.

"Don’t leave, what in the world is going on?"

Liu Yufei rushed out the door and headed to the observation room where Xu Dayuan and the others were already at the door.

"Boss, do we know who the killer is now?"

Xu Dayuan nodded.

"We’ll discuss it on the move. We found so surveillance footage, but we can’t be sure yet. We strongly suspect Zhong Xiaoyan is Shi Yun. We’re going to divide our tasks. Yufei, take the first team directly to Zhong Xiaoyan’s shop. Fang Mu will lead a team to Zhong Xiaoyan’s house. I’ll go with Zhou Ning and the others to the hospital.

We need to ask Xu Qingquan more thoroughly. Zhang Ping, get so people to bring Kong Wanshan to . Mr. Peng, inform the train stations, airports, bus stations, and all major toll exits out of the city to distribute Zhong Xiaoyan’s photo and search ticulously. I suspect that her agreeing to cancel the engagent is not because she plans to let the Xu Family go.

This is just a temporary asure. Besides, Zhang Fangfang is still in the station; it’s impossible for her to act right now. Therefore, she must be hiding sowhere, waiting for the opportunity to strike. We need to act fast and deploy urgently."

Liu Yufei, Fang Mu, and Peng Da, all nodded quickly, and everyone rushed downstairs together. Zhou Ning looked back towards the direction of the interrogation room, thinking to himself, if I were Shi Yun, what would I do next?
