Zhou Ning didn’t rush to leave. Xu Dayuan had communicated the situation to the city bureau, and they had given priority to the DNA comparison. As for the interrogation, Mr. Zhao was continuously relaying updates. Shen Guanlin had admitted to everything.
He killed Zhang Jiahui in the early morning of the 21st, drove his son’s car, took the body to the reservoir, and then dumped the body and discarded the murder weapon. His son had no idea that he had driven that Prado.

After hanging up the phone, Xu Dayuan ca over.
"How is it, are the results out?"
Zhou Ning went through the pages one by one. When he got to the last page, he paused, pushed up his glasses, looked at Xu Dayuan, and seed a bit dazed.
"Cut that look. Just tell what’s up, you’re making anxious!"
"The comparison results are correct. The male DNA sample found in the wound is Shen Guanlin’s. The residual DNA on the tape used to wrap the murder weapon and car license plate belongs to the sa person as Shen Weijie. As for the blood on the murder weapon, it matches Zhang Jiahui without a doubt.
Regarding the fingerprints on the screws of the Prado’s tires, they match the fingerprints on the wrench of an unknown individual, but I suspect that this person is a woman because there’s a trace on the fingertip, a mark left by a long fingernail.
I’m just surprised because there’s an additional DNA comparison result. I reckon since both nas provided shared the sa surna, an extra comparison was done. Shen Guanlin and Shen Weijie are not father and son; in fact, they are completely unrelated."
Xu Dayuan nodded continuously, listening intently to Zhou Ning’s recap until the last sentence, at which point he looked up in surprise.
"Damn, that’s a massive cuckolding. Does Shen Guanlin know?"
Zhou Ning shook his head. He couldn’t make that judgnt, but from the interrogation information Mr. Zhao sent back, a strong sense of protectiveness could be felt.
"Enough guessing here, let’s go straight down to the interrogation rooms. The ’father and son’ each have a room, and we’ll go to the observation room next door to watch. You haven’t been there before, right?"
Zhou Ning was intrigued—the system hadn’t yet popped up a task submission interface, and the countdown was still ticking. Maybe sothing was missing.
"Never seen it, can I watch?"
Xu Dayuan waved his hand.
"Co down, I’ll show you sothing new!"
The two went downstairs and opened a door next to the interrogation room. Two people were sitting inside, wearing headphones next to constantly turning recording equipnt. Zhou Ning had seen them but couldn’t recall their nas. Both got up and Xu Dayuan waved them off.
Zhou Ning moved closer to see through a large one-way glass that clearly showed the inside of the interrogation room, where Shen Guanlin was handcuffed to an interrogation chair, his hands bound with long-chain cuffs, his head tilted as he looked at the interrogator He Chunyang and another note-taker.
Shen Guanlin’s expression was indifferent, his eyes sowhat vacant.
Xu Dayuan handed Zhou Ning a pair of headphones, so he could hear what was being said in the interrogation room. He Chunyang was repeating himself, asking Shen Guanlin to describe the cri process, but Shen Guanlin remained silent.
Xu Dayuan grabbed the microphone, flipped a switch, and a red light ca on before he said in a low voice:
"Chunyang, tell Shen Guanlin that we just received the results from the tests. His DNA, after comparison, is a perfect match with the DNA left at the victim’s wound. There is an undeniable conflict between him and the victim. However, there’s an unexpected find; he, and his ’son,’ have no blood relation at all. The comparison report is in my hands. Ask him if he wants to see it?"
Zhou Ning glanced at Xu Dayuan, who at that mont was focusing on the inside of the room beyond the one-way glass, waving backwards with his hand. Zhou Ning quickly found the DNA comparison result for the ’father and son’ and handed it to a detective.
The detective hurried out, knocked on the door, and entered the interrogation room.
He Chunyang, hearing the knock, smiled slightly, and the note-taker got up to hand the report to He Chunyang.
"The test results are out," the DNA sample remaining in the victim’s wound is an exact match with yours. Of course, there is also so good news. I think this will definitely surprise you. Co take a look yourself; you’re a professional after all."
He Chunyang stood up, snubbed out his cigarette, then walked over to Shen Guanlin and handed him the report, which Shen Guanlin took with his right hand.
Zhou Ning squinted his eyes; Shen Guanlin was right-handed.
Shen Guanlin, who had appeared indifferent until then, paused for a mont, seemingly puzzled by the police officer’s action. Seeing that He Chunyang had no other moves, he finally lowered his gaze. He Chunyang walked over to the interrogation chair, grabbed Shen Guanlin’s shoulder, and forced him to look up at the surveillance caras in the corners of the room.
"Look closely. Our interrogations are fully recorded by surveillance. As for this DNA comparison report, the only reason it was done is that the testing center found your DNA to be a match, and at the very least thought your son’s DNA would resemble yours. Having said that, He Chunyang stood up straight. Zhou Ning had to give credit to his approach; even the strongest ntal defenses would crumble against such a bombardnt.
According to what Mr. Zhao had said, before Shen Guanlin had shouldered all the bla, but now, after the revelation of being deceived for almost thirty years, how could he react?
Just then, Zhou Ning suddenly rembered that on the 21st, Shen Guanlin had been out for 38 minutes at 6:30 pm, returning with a box of food. As for coming ho at 23:32 after the surgery ended, that was verified by surveillance footage of him entering the complex.
That raised two questions:
1. Was the boxed food takeout, or was it food sent from ho?
2. After 23:32, there was no surveillance check on the vehicles entering and exiting the complex.
Zhou Ning nudged Xu Dayuan, unsure about whether he could speak up. He quickly typed these two points into his phone and showed it to Xu Dayuan.
Xu Dayuan nodded continuously and dialed a number.
"Check two surveillance feeds for and tell the results imdiately..."
Xu Dayuan stroked his chin and turned off the microphone’s red light.
"You think that Shen Weijie and Zhang Jiahui also had an improper relationship, and Shen Guanlin found out, which is why he had the urge to kill?"
Zhou Ning shook his head.
"Perhaps it’s the other way around. Shen Weijie was seduced by Zhang Jiahui; things progressed between them, but then he discovered that his father and Zhang Jiahui had been in an unclear relationship long before. When confronted, Zhang Jiahui, infuriated, scratched Shen Guanlin, and in a fit of rage, Shen Weijie wounded Zhang Jiahui.
"Zhang Jiahui was hit on the back of the head, causing such a serious fracture and intracranial hemorrhage. They couldn’t explain it, so they hid the body in the car and waited until Shen Guanlin got off work that night; then they went to the reservoir to dispose of the body."
"Both of them disposed of the body together?"
Zhou Ning nodded.
"The victim wasn’t heavy, but with the weight of the tire, trying to get the body into the reservoir and as far away from the shore as possible—it’s not sothing one person could accomplish."
At this point, Zhou Ning paused.
"Xu Da, I still haven’t received Shen Weijie’s shoes."
Xu Dayuan was taken aback.
"Shoes?"
