Zhi’er and the others followed the housekeeper to the East Garden.
As they passed a small courtyard, Zhi’er glanced inside.
Surprisingly, it was a bright Buddhist hall.
Inside, there were nurous Buddha statues, and the maids were carefully wiping them with handkerchiefs.
Zhi’er couldn’t help but smile.
"I didn’t expect your father to believe in Buddhism."
Guoguo coldly said, "When I left, he didn’t believe."
A person like Duke Huan, who has done so many heinous acts, believing in Buddhism is just because he’s done too many shaful deeds!
The housekeeper walking ahead turned his head and explained, "Actually, the master believes just to please the Emperor."
"When the young master left ho, that incident hadn’t happened yet. Our current Emperor had an Empress whom he grew up with as childhood sweethearts."
"The Emperor and Empress had a deep bond, but alas, the heavens are unkind. Three years ago, the Empress passed away due to illness."
"Since then, the Emperor has beco volatile, started believing in ghosts, and often summoned Jianghu witches to summon the soul of the Empress."
"Over ti, not only did the palace beco filled with statues, but many temples and Buddhist halls were built outside."
So, there was this reason behind it.
No wonder when they arrived, they encountered such a large statue and were told it was to bless the late Empress.
Zhi’er understood.
Guoguo angrily said, "If soone has committed so many bad deeds, how could gods and buddhas possibly protect them."
Zhi’er glanced at the statues in the Buddhist hall out of the corner of her eye.
One of them seed familiar to her.
But before she could take a closer look, the maids had already finished wiping and closed the door.
After entering the East Garden, the housekeeper introduced that there were a total of six small courtyards here.
The main house of the East Garden was undoubtedly given to Guoguo.
Zhi’er chose a two-story small courtyard facing the sun, and Feng Fuce naturally chose to live in the courtyard behind hers.
Bai Xingye considered for a mont and decided to live next to his sister.
The housekeeper, having sent them off, excused himself by saying he had other matters to attend to and left.
Leaving behind four maids to serve them.
Guoguo suspected these maids were spies for Duke Huan.
So he instructed them, "Unless necessary, just wait outside the East Garden, don’t co in to serve."
After all, having lived alone for many years, in the Xiuluo Guard, he had grown accustod to independence and wasn’t used to being served anymore.
Once the maids avoided them, Zhi’er and the others went to Guoguo’s room to discuss matters.
Guoguo said, "Duke Huan certainly has another motive. My demands have all been outrageous. Given his character, he wouldn’t swallow his anger and let have my way."
"The only reason he’s enduring it must be because there’s a bigger plot waiting for ."
Having said that, he looked at Feng Fuce, expecting the Marquis to praise him.
After all, in the Xiuluo Guard, Marquis Wan often encouraged them to freely analyze to train their thinking abilities.
However, Feng Fuce didn’t pay attention to his words. Instead, he stood beside Zhi’er, gently massaging her arm.
"Sleeping in the cabin was uncomfortable. Last night my arm was pressed, and it’s still sore." Zhi’er tapped her shoulder.
Bai Xingye’s eyes remained indifferent as he watched Feng Fuce’s hand.
He squeezed in, "Marquis, let do it instead."
Feng Fuce gently brushed away Bai Xingye’s obstructing hand.
He said calmly, "When traveling outside, there’s no need to address like that, to avoid alerting the enemy."
"Furthermore, if you truly want to help, go ask the maids to send so pastries."
Bai Xingye thought it was sensible; his sister would soon be hungry.
Watching them converse, Guoguo clenched his fist, "Are you listening to or not!"
