Have I said it?
Bai Zhi’er recalled seriously.
It seems there was such a thing.
But at the ti, she was enjoying her favorite shrimp pancakes, so she didn’t pay much attention.
Bai Zhi’er watched as the palace Servants’ deft hands flew, and a few green bamboo strips soon transford into a delicate bamboo cage.
The little one exclaid repeatedly.
"I didn’t expect fireflies, like Zhi Bao, to enjoy sweet things."
The crowd laughed lightly.
Qingi said: "Fireflies and the Princess are both delightful little creatures."
"Legend has it that Chang’e and Hou Yi, one in Yue Palace and one in the Mortal World, gazed from afar, separated by a great distance, unable to see each other."
"So the clever Hou Yi thought of a way. He captured the last batch of autumn fireflies into a bamboo cage and hung them on a tree, allowing Chang’e in Yue Palace to see them."
"Hou Yi used this thod to tell Chang’e that it’s autumn in the mortal world as a ans to express his longing."
"So gradually, capturing fireflies beca a tradition of the Chasing Moon Festival. It is said that hanging a bamboo cage full of fireflies on a tree will guide you to et your destined one in this life!"
Bai Zhi’er blinked her big eyes: "Is it really so magical!"
Qingi nodded with a smile: "That’s why the servants are making bamboo cages, hoping to encounter soone destined."
A little palace Servant nearby muttered: "But we can’t go out, making bamboo cages to catch fireflies is useless, unless it can take us to the Emperor?"
Qingi raised her brows to reprimand: "Don’t talk nonsense! The Emperor is devoted to the Empress, he won’t look at you."
The little palace Servant waved her hands repeatedly: "I wouldn’t dare embarrass myself in front of the Emperor."
Everyone knew that the Emperor was cold-hearted, and no woman in the world could compare to his beloved first wife.
The other little palace Servants winked and giggled: "Besides the Emperor, aren’t there others? The Imperial Guard and the Xiuluo Guard."
"That Vice Envoy Chu often flatters our Sister Qingi. He was the one who brought you back just now!"
Qingi’s face flushed, she scolded: "The Princess is here, and you dare gossip recklessly. Be careful, or Her Highness will punish you!"
The palace Servants pretended to beg for rcy. Bai Zhi’er didn’t understand why, but she joined in their innocent and sweet laughter.
Bai Zhi’er reached out her small hand: "Sister Qingi, could you give a bamboo cage? I want to play with fireflies too."
She had seen all kinds of beautiful palace lanterns but couldn’t imagine what fireflies in a bamboo cage would look like.
Qingi handed the freshly made bamboo cage to Bai Zhi’er.
And she advised: "Your Highness, the candy inside is to attract fireflies, you mustn’t eat it!"
Just as she received the bamboo cage, Bai Zhi’er, who was about to pick the candy inside, suddenly froze her small hand.
She silently withdrew her chubby little fingers.
The little one smiled sweetly and cutely: "Good thing you said it quickly, Zhi’er didn’t eat it!"
As night fell, the Galaxy was brilliant, and the moon was bright.
Ruizhu Palace was bustling with excitent.
Bai Zhi’er joined Qingi and the little palace Servants in hanging the bamboo cages on the tree.
The little one gazed with big watery eyes, expectantly: "Sister Qingi, will the fireflies really go inside?"
Qingi led Bai Zhi’er into the hall: "Of course, the Princess shall see."
"Little Dizi, turn off the lights!" Qingi called out.
In no ti, all the palace lanterns under the corridor of Ruizhu Palace were extinguished.
The entire splendid palace was imrsed in the white-blue glow of moonlight.
