Zhi’er frowned, scrutinizing carefully.
The building behind the villagers really looked like an ancestral hall.
She could vaguely see inside, altars and incense were set up.
Mo Yanchi stepped forward and helped Ge Qian, who had fallen to the ground, get up.
His expression was serious: "What are you doing here?"
Ge Qian was frightened out of her wits, tears streaming down as she said, "I just saw a figure run inside and thought it was one of our classmates."
Who could have known, after entering, she actually saw——
A severed pig’s head, bloodily placed on the offering table.
The villagers angrily said, "We are about to perform our ancestral rites, and she, an outsider, just barges in like that, truly unruly!"
The other villagers followed in their anger.
"Exactly, we kindly allowed you to stay here to play, not to destroy the feng shui of our ancestral hall!"
Mo Yanchi had no choice but to apologize alongside Ge Qian.
In the end, he also gave the villagers a silver note of one hundred taels, and they finally let it go.
Mo Yanchi admonished Ge Qian: "You cannot run around recklessly anymore, every village has its own rules, you need to pay more attention!"
Ge Qian hung her head in regret: "I’m sorry, Master, I will never run around like that again."
The students grouped together to head back to their accommodations.
Fang Youzhen pondered aloud: "Sister Zhi’er, don’t you find it strange, why aren’t there any won in this village?"
Zhi’er was puzzled: "You noticed too?"
From the ti they entered the village until now, the villagers they saw were all young and adult n.
There were not even any elderly people.
A village with no elderly or won.
What is going on here?
For lunch, Mo Yanchi led everyone in lighting a fire to cook.
A group of pampered young ladies and gentlen, naturally causing the kitchen to fill with billowing black smoke.
Mo Yanchi was afraid that the villagers might once again co complaining, accusing them of burning down houses.
Finally, it was Guoguo and Lei Hu who stepped up and helped make a few large pots of food.
Zhi’er carried a skewer of grilled mushrooms, searching around for Feng Fuce.
She had grilled them herself!
Yet there was no sign of Feng Fuce anywhere.
She held Guoguo back: "Did you see Brother Fu Ce?"
Guoguo thought for a mont: "I think I just saw the Marquis heading down the slope, maybe he went into the village?"
Zhi’er nodded: "I’ll go find him."
Guoguo watched Zhi’er leave alone.
He hesitated for a mont, then couldn’t help but ask: "Do you want to go with you?"
Zhi’er didn’t even turn her head: "No need! You go eat!"
Afterwards, she ran down the hill.
Village Chief Huang Buren had arranged for them to stay in the low houses behind the slope.
Probably to keep their accommodations separate from those of the villagers.
At this lunchti, she didn’t see many villagers around.
Carrying the mushroom skewer, she wandered around.
Finally, at the doorway of Village Chief Huang Buren’s house, she saw Feng Fuce.
Feng Fuce seed ready to enter the house.
Zhi’er ran over from behind, and Feng Fuce seed to sense it, imdiately turning around.
"What are you doing here? Guoguo and the others have prepared a lot of food, it’s ti to eat." She blinked her big eyes.
Feng Fuce gestured for silence, then pulled Zhi’er into the house.
The village chief’s house was empty.
"The evil energy is the strongest here, I ca to take a look."
Zhi’er obediently nodded.
She held up the mushroom skewer: "I grilled it myself, do you want to try? You can eat while you search."
Feng Fuce turned back, a faint, light smile appearing between his thin brows.
He was just about to speak, when his expression changed.
Not far from the door, the voice of Village Chief Huang Buren sounded.
He quickly embraced Zhi’er, and the two of them squeezed into a closet at the side.
The closet was cramped, and Zhi’er was pressed tightly against Feng Fuce’s chest.
It was the first ti the two had been forced to be so close, fitting together so perfectly!
Zhi’er’s eyes widened, her cheeks burning red!
