On Lucien’s awakening day, the whole mansion was in celebration.

The young master who was thought to be trash turned out to be a nine-star genius.

Due to this, Lucien’s father increased their payout as a form of celebration. asures were taken to avoid the spread of the news to the outside world and to prevent prying eyes from learning of it. They knew the truth couldn’t be withheld for too long, but they were trying to give their son ti to grow.

Even so, there were so leaks that couldn’t be blocked.

Under the shadow of the night, soone moved.

In an enclosed place covered with runes, blocking and sealing the location from prying eyes, a figure brought out an unknown rune. It floated and released strange waves of Originat.

"I heard the mission failed," a cold, domineering voice ca from the rune.

"Yes, master. It seems the head of the clan and his family kept their strength hidden, baiting us. I am not sure if they are aware of our existence," the figure replied in a solemn voice.

"There’s no way he can know of our existence. And if he does, what does he want to do?" The domineering voice was arrogant and nonchalant.

"Surprisingly, even their second son survived." Anger built in the voice.

"That’s what I wanted to inform you about, master. It seems the second young master has been playing us. He just finished his awakening – fire elent surpassing S-Rank, dual bloodline, throne seed, dual origin soul," the figure explained.

The domineering voice fell silent, clearly shocked by this news.

"Is the luck of the Veyrion Clan finally turning?" The master muttered.

"We have to kill that boy, no matter what it takes. If such a genius cannot be used by us, he must be killed. We must cleave one of David’s arms and prevent this boy from foiling our plans."

"What’s the next move, master?"

"I will send soone to assassinate him. Tail his location whenever he leaves the mansion," the domineering voice ordered.

"Yes, master. But how can you be sure he will leave? The certainty must be high, or we might fall into David’s trap," the figure said hurriedly.

"Don’t worry. I know David. The enrollnt for Aethel Academy is close. There’s no way he will miss it," the domineering voice chuckled.

"Yes, master. But I am still worried," the figure explained.

The domineering voice seed irritated by the figure’s hesitation. With a snort, the figure was sent flying.

"Are you telling I don’t know what to do? Or do you want to teach ?" The domineering voice snorted.

"No, master." The figure kept shaking.

"Don’t worry. I will send soone as strong as David to increase the mission’s success rate, along with an ancient talisman that can disrupt and destroy any hidden protection left on the boy."

"What did you say his na was again?" the domineering voice asked.

"Lucien Veyrion."

"Hmm. Just make sure to update when he leaves the mansion."

After this, the rune fell silent, like a dead object. The figure carefully erased all traces of what had happened and lted into the darkness.

It seed like nothing had happened.

The wind had died. Even the leaves stopped rustling.

Seraphina was watching Lucien battling the Thornback Boars. Her heart clenched with every wound he took, but she forced herself to stay still. There were nurous tis when she wanted to intervene when she saw that Lucien was injured.

She bit her lip until she tasted copper, but she kept her cool, not wanting to ruin Lucien’s training.

As the battle progressed, she was impressed by her husband’s tactics and watched as he unleashed the Ember Skyfall. A strange pride swelled in her chest – her husband, her beloved, wielding such power.

Her mouth opened wide in shock. She knew the skill; it was an Ancient Spell from the clan’s repository, and the minimum strength a cultivator must have before being able to use it was the Initiate Realm.

She saw the large circle of golden runes.

That was the last thing she saw before she found herself on another side of the forest.

One mont she was watching him, the next – empty air and trees.

She had been teleported to another place forcefully.

And from the looks of it, she had been teleported a thousand miles. Her blood ran cold.

She thought they had co to deal with her, but sensing no one, she realised the true target.

"Lucien."

Seraphina’s heart rose in panic. Her breath turned to fire in her lungs. She used her whole speed to return to Lucien.

The wind whipped her face. Ice-cold clouds cut past her. She didn’t feel any of it.

In her mind, she prayed that nothing had happened to him – that he would survive till she got there.

"Please. Please. Please." The word was a drumbeat in her skull.

Because she couldn’t sense anyone, that ant the person’s strength was not weaker than hers – it could even be stronger.

With all her might, she moved. Her figure looked like it was teleporting with every stride.

The forest blurred into a sar of green and brown.

At last, she got there.

But she was too late.

Her eyes saw sothing that made her sky shatter and fall.

The world stopped.

A sword had pierced through Lucien’s heart, blood dripping from the blade.

Crimson droplets fell one by one, each a small death.

And the culprit – an unknown person in a black cloak.

The figure turned, but Seraphina didn’t see them. She only saw the blade. She only saw him.

She looked at this scene. She couldn’t hear anything. Her heart was fixed on the scene before her.

Her ears rang with silence. Her lungs forgot how to breathe.

She couldn’t handle it. She didn’t want to believe it.

Not him. Not her husband. Not her reason for living.

But their gazes t.

His eyes, once so full of quiet strength, were already fading.

She watched the sword dissolve into nothing, Lucien’s body falling to the ground.

As if in a dream, she moved.

Her figure disappeared and reappeared, catching Lucien before he hit the earth.

She held him to her chest, feeling his blood soak through her clothes. Warm. Too warm.

Lucien felt his body falling onto sothing soft.

Through a haze of darkness, he recognized the scent of her – smoke and jasmine.

He saw the blurry image of Seraphina. He wanted to say sothing, but all strength had left him.

His lips parted, but no sound ca.

He felt she was shouting his na, but he couldn’t hear anything.

Her mouth moved, her face twisted in anguish – a silent scream.

He could feel his life slipping.

Each heartbeat was a grain of sand falling through an hourglass.

All he could do was mutter her na – "Seraphina..." – and then everything stopped.

The last grain fell.

Seraphina held Lucien in her arms as his blood soaked her clothes.

She pressed him tighter, as if she could push her own life into his cooling body.

She called his na, but there was no response from him.

Silence. Only silence.

Her heart panicked. Tears were flowing.

Hot streaks down her cheeks, falling onto his pale face.

Then everything turned dark as she watched Lucien’s life slip away.

The light in his eyes was gone. Extinguished like a snuffed candle.

She looked at his black pupils that had no life in them.

Empty. Hollow. Like two dead stars.

"Ah."

She scread to the sky.

The sound tore from her throat – raw, primal, inhuman.

At this mont, tears couldn’t fall anymore. Her pupils beca like those of a dead person, and a wave of Originat erupted from her body, causing a whirlwind.

Leaves and dust spiraled around her. The trees bent away.

She began to laugh.

The laugh was brittle, broken – the sound of a mind snapping.

"Why doesn’t the entire world die with you?"

Her voice was soft, almost tender. But her eyes held only void.

She looked down at Lucien’s face, stroked his cheek with bloodstained fingers.

"If you leave , then nothing deserves to remain."
