I've been juggling quite a few ideas for the story, and I think this is one of those monts that’s better decided by all of you rather than just behind the scenes.
As my loyal readers have noticed, even though the story is primarily set in an urban fantasy world, it carries so very heavy sci-fi elents. We’ve now reached a point in the plot where I’m genuinely torn between two strong directions for Nier's character.
Yes, this is an erotic story, but it also has a serious tone and a deep lore foundation. I can’t fit every idea I have into the main book without creating plot holes, so I’ve decided to let you, the readers, choose.
Most of you already know that Nier is essentially an Outer God — or more accurately, the avatar of his Outer God self in the Black Woods. When we eventually return to the Black Woods in the Immaterial Sphere, what happens in the lower world will heavily shape his status and the unique abilities he'll wield there.
That said, I don't want to spoil anything important. So instead, I'm going to present two carefully crafted portfolios for you to vote on.
To give so quick context:
All Apostles possess a Divine Context — similar to a divine portfolio in D&D. This Context cos in the shape of various title which serves as both a record of their feats, story, and origin, and as the Negative Concept they will embody, in Nier case this will be when he breaks Kaly's Seal.
For example, Ishtar is the Apostle of Dark Lust. While she is fundantally tied to that concept, she maintains her own independent will and personality. Because of this independence, she also holds a separate Divine Context — Black Guilt — which grants her power beyond just using Dark Lust Concept ie Divine Language and Authority.
Just a quick note on the hierarchy of the Outer Gods.
They represent the absolute corrupted form of existing concepts. Their structure is split into three levels:
- Dark Ones (Highest): The pinnacle of corruption. Kaly is for example Dark Fertility, and her other sisters have Dark to their identity like Dark Lust, and Dark Death. Their titles always carry the Dark prefix.
- Blacks Ones (Middle): The Apostles of the Sisters of Chaos. Both Ishtar and Nier belong to this group. There are only 10 Sisters and 10 Apostles.
- Corrupt Ones (Lowest): The baseline corrupted entities. For example, a random Outer God nad Tom who rules over Genesis would simply be titled Corrupt Genesis.
With that out of the way — I've prepared two really cool Divine Context which will serve as Nier concepts on that side. Rather than spoil the details, I'll let you choose based on the two portfolios I’ve written.
Here are the choices.
Black mory - [Mnemosyne Route]
Black Nature [Gaia Route] -
