Daniel, Neil, and Sam stood in a tight huddle, their voices low and urgent, full with fear for the most part.
And given the situation these boys found themselves in, who could even bla them.
Daniel's hands shook as he glanced at his friends, his voice was at this mont.
No louder than a soft whisper.
"Guys, we gotta get outta here. We don't even know if Mr. Augustus is still breathing after… whatever the hell that was."
Neil's face was ashen, his eyes flicking nervously toward the wreckage.
"Yeah, no kidding bro... I have been saying that basically the entire ti and y'all just ignore ."
"Yeah, yeah, we get it, ok."
He sass back, running a hand through his tangled hair, letting out a shaky sigh.
"You're right... So let's move before...
"Going sowhere?"
A sharp, irritated voice cut through the stillness, freezing the boys in place.
They whirled around to see Nier striding out of the devastation, his figure erging from the haze like a specter.
His clothes were in tatters, soaked with blood, his own and the creature's, clinging to his lean fra like a ruined cloak. Yet his skin was flawless, not a scratch or bruise despite the chaos his clothes seem to endured.
His red eyes burned with a cold, unrelenting fire, and at his side slithered the skinwalker, its grotesque form now a docile shadow, tentacles dragging limply through the dirt.
Sam stumbled back, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Augustus… did you… did you kill that thing?"
He asked unaware that the skin walker was even beside him, however his and the other boys attention fall on it.
Nier's stare however was flat, devoid of interest, as he let out a tired sigh.
"For one, does it look like it dead, secondly does it look like it's causing any problems anymore?"
He muttered, barely sparing the creature a glance.
"Wait that thing is Ms. Rita why didn't you killed it?!"
Neil shouted.
Sam however step in, not wanting know how Nier even ta the thing.
"Ok, ok Neil let's not get into other people bussnuiess."
Daniel nodded in agreent with Sam as he asked, his throat bobbed as he swallowed hard too, and his hands twitching nervously.
"So… um can we go now?"
Nier's eyes narrowed, and he raised a hand. Black and purple flas erging from the palms of raise hands, as he cast Black Scorch, and flas erupted from his palm, licking the air with a nacing hiss that sent a wave of heat rolling over the boys.
They flinched, their faces paling, as panic took hold of them in that mont.
"Look I don't have the ti for constantly babysitting you, so here is what going to happen. You've got two options."
Nier said, his voice low and filled with malice.
"Walk away as ashes, or walk away with no mory of what you saw. I am wiping your minds clean."
Neil's voice cracked, his eyes wide with terror.
"No way, man! We won't tell anyone, we swear! Right, guys?"
He shot desperate glances at Daniel and Sam, who nodded frantically, their hands raised in surrender.
"Yeah, Mr. Augustus, we won’t say a thing!"
Sam stamred, his voice high-pitched.
"We don't even get what we saw!"
Daniel stepped forward too, his tone extrely pleading now.
"Co on Mr. Augustus...we're just kids! We"re not gonna snitch. We Promise!"
Nier's jaw tightened, his patience wearing thin.
"Exactly... You think I am dumb enough to trust you brats?"
He thrust his hand forward, the flas coalescing into a blazing fireball. With a sharp flick of his wrist, he compressed it into a razor-thin beam of fire that beca a laser that shot through the forest, punching clean through nine trees in an instant.
The air crackled, and the sll of charred wood filled the clearing as the boys stumbled back, their faces drained of color.
Neil let out a choked cry, clutching Sam's arm as a dark yellow stain spread across his jeans.
"Oh, crap, oh, crap!"
Daniel, though shaken, held his ground, his hands raised in surrender.
"Alright, alright! We'll do it. Better to forget than… to die I guess."
He nodded toward the smoking trees, his voice unsteady. He hesitated, then added, but sothing swam over his mind in that mont.
He was curious, and since he was going to forget anyways.
He jumped at the question for montary pleasure.
"Hey since I am gonna forget anyway… can I ask you sothing?"
Nier arched a brow, his annoyance clear but softened by a flicker of curiosity.
"Make it quick."
"Are you a Hesta?"
Daniel asked, his voice cautious.
"You know, one of those governnt-approved gifted people? Well I heard they are evil people out there too, since our world after all has been split into two factions. Superheroes, chasers of the unknowns called the Occultist, and Supervillains who abuse there awaken powers known as Warlock's and Witches.... Are by chance an Occultist is what I am asking?!"
Nier expression remain mostly the sa, in reality he was neither, but he replied with a simple.
"Sure."
He said, the lie slipping out as easily as breathing. Why the hell would he tell so kid the truth, that he was a flux, a cursed being by this world standards.
Hearing this Daniel nodded, seemingly convinced. He lowered his gaze, his voice softening.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Augustus. For everything. , Sam, Neil, even my sister and her friend, we've been sneaking into your estate for years, thinking it was just so spooky old mansion to ss around in. But you saved our lives today. You're… kind of aweso, you know? If things were different, I would have liked to hang out, maybe learn more about you."
Daniel admitted, for years he has misunderstood the man infront of him, still soft words did not work on him.
He already made up his mind as he was going to erase these guys mories.
Nier's expression didn't shift, but he let out a heavy sigh, dripping with exasperation.
"You done with the sappy crap, kid?"
Sam and Neil exchanged defeated looks, their shoulders sagging.
"Yeah."
Daniel then said quietly.
"Yeah, yeah I get it. Beside there is nothing we can do in this situation even if we wanted to. Just… get it over with."
"With pleasure... Just looked into my eyes."
Nier said as he looked the boys in the eye, his eyes starting to glow, as he prepare to cast mory Erasure on them. But before he could, a voice slipped into his mind, soft and warm.
'Wait, darling.'
He froze, his red eyes narrowing, as he ntally responded back.
'K-Kaly.'
He muttered ntally, his tone wary but familiar.
Her voice was faint, like a whisper carried across a vast distance, strained with effort.
'Hehehe that's-ah-ee... but I'm burning through so much power to reach you like this, so I will make my ssage quick. Those boys… they can be valuable.'
Said, causing Nier to question.
'How so?!'
Nier ask as his jaw clenched, his gaze flicking to the boys, who stood clueless, their faces etched with nervous anticipation. ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ novᴇlfire
'I don't have ti to explain, just let them be, tonight I will talk to you in your dreams. Still though if you feel unsafe, I can show an even better way to shut them up.'

Nier said to which Kaly replied.
