Now reading: Chapter 112: Ms. Etina is in a very good mood today from Of Steel and Roses: Silver-Haired Loli on a Rampage, a Action novel by 不知好歹的燃芯.

Ms. Edna was originally in a very good mood today.

She had just finished her last task before clocking off—confirming that all necessary equipnt in the facility was operating normally.

Steam circulation system: normal.

Coolant pipeline pressure: normal.

Arc lamp power supply network: normal.

Ventilation system: normal.

Experintal gravity compensation device on Basent Level 3: normal.

The massive glass vat on Basent Level 4, whose purpose she still didn't know: normal.

The fluorescent yellow particles inside were still floating lazily, just like yesterday, the day before, and last year.

All equipnt: completely normal.

She pressed her paw print onto the inspection log board.

Perfect.

To her master, the vast majority of humans in this world were insignificant diocrities.

Edna thoroughly agreed with this point.

She had stayed in this facility long enough and seen enough human researchers co and go.

They were clumsy, slow on the uptake, and took three days just to digest a single formula her master ntioned in passing.

At most, they could only serve as low-level assistants.

And most of the ti, they couldn't even do that right.

Since that was the case, why didn't the master find so assistants who were more pleasing to the eye?

Like Cats, for instance.

This logic was perfectly sound.

Edna felt this was one of the most correct decisions her master had ever made in his life.

Of course, ordinary Cats weren't much smarter than ordinary humans.

Therefore, as the first and only Cat in this facility to be elevated by the master to step onto the Path of the Pope, Edna bore an important responsibility—ensuring that all other Cats in the facility could share in her wisdom.

The Path of the Pope.

Guiding, teaching, enlightening.

Transferring knowledge and understanding from one consciousness to another.

This was actually quite difficult for a Cat.

A Cat's brain structure and thinking patterns differ from a human's; converting complex concepts from the human world into sothing a Cat can understand requires extrely fine adjustnts.

Fortunately, her master had specifically invented auxiliary equipnt for this purpose.

A Resonance Network embedded in the facility's walls could amplify Edna's Path of the Pope abilities, allowing her consciousness to reach every Cat in the facility.

Through this network, she could transmit basic working knowledge, safety protocols, and operational procedures to all assistants without direct contact.

Though the depth of transmission was limited—for example, she couldn't make a Cat suddenly understand calculus—

It was enough to make them competent for daily laboratory work.

The rest was up to them to learn slowly on their own.

Edna walked leisurely down the corridor.

Her paw pads stepped on the deep red carpet, making almost no sound.

Her pace was composed and elegant, her tail held high with the tip slightly curled, like an inverted question mark.

Cats along the way constantly greeted her.

A tabby Cat wiping down an instrunt looked up and gave a respectful ow.

Edna nodded slightly.

An orange Cat resting on a pipe saw her and imdiately sat up straight, ears pricked up.

Edna lightly tapped its head with the tip of her tail as a response.

The orange Cat's tail began to wag happily.

Ever since she brought that human girl who looked very much like their kind into the facility yesterday, her master had directly suspended all other ongoing research.

He had dived headfirst into his laboratory.

He even refused the accompanint of all other assistants.

Even Edna was kept outside the door.

The master only said, "I need quiet," and then that white door closed.

It hadn't opened once from yesterday until now.

This was, of course, a good thing for Edna.

Because she had been granted a long vacation.

A long vacation.

The frequency of this term appearing in Edna's dictionary was about the sa as "facility explosion."

Which is to say, extrely rare.

Her master was a workaholic.

A complete, unbridled workaholic who could work seventy-two hours straight without blinking.

And as the master's chief assistant, Edna's schedule basically followed the master's.

If the master didn't rest, she didn't rest.

If the master worked until three in the morning, she worked until three in the morning.

If the master suddenly sat up in the middle of the night and said, "I have an idea," she had to get up with him to record that idea.

So a long vacation was, for Edna, the ultimate luxury among luxuries.

Though she didn't know what kind of nonsense her foolish master was planning to pull this ti,

It didn't stop her from properly enjoying this rare holiday.

Edna arrived in front of her room.

It was a small wooden door, just the right height for a Cat to pass through, with a copper plate hanging on it engraved with the words "Ms. Edna." The handwriting was her master's own, the strokes a bit crooked.

She looked left and right.

The corridor was empty of Cats.

Good.

After confirming no other Cats were present, she elegantly raised a front paw and pressed down the door handle.

The door opened silently.

She walked into the pitch-black room.

Then she turned around, used her hind legs to push against the door, and closed it tight.

The latch clicked into the lock hole.

She relaxed instantly.

Her entire body went limp, as if her bones had been removed.

She pounced forward.

A soft blanket caught her.

She rolled around on the blanket.

And then rolled again.

Four paws in the air, belly exposed, tail thumping rhythmically against the blanket.

Comfortable.

So comfortable.

This feeling of not having to put on airs or maintain the image of "Ms. Edna" was quite simply the best thing in the world.

She lay there for a while.

Then she reached for a small lever switch on the wall with her tail.

The tip of her tail hooked the lever and gave it a tug.

Click.

The lights in the room ca on.

The light was soft and warm, not the cold pale blue of the laboratory, but a warm orange-yellow.

Her master had specially adjusted it for her.

The light illuminated the entire room.

The room wasn't large, only about a quarter the size of a regular laboratory.

But for a Cat, it was more than enough.

A thick, dark carpet covered the floor, and in the corner was a circular Cat bed lined with several layers of cotton pads, looking as fluffy as a cloud.

Beside it were a small water dispenser and a food bowl, both made of brass and polished to a shine.

But none of these were the main point.

The main point was the walls.

On three walls, from floor to ceiling, /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ rows of display shelves were neatly arranged.

The display shelves were made of transparent glass, and each compartnt held a tiny object.

Models.

All kinds of models.

There were models of chs—from the earliest heavy iron boxes to the latest humanoid chs, every generation was there, with precise proportions and rich details; even the rivets on the armor plates were clearly visible.

There were models of buildings—the clock tower of Eisenburg, the main teaching building of the Royal Knights Academy, the cathedral of Victoria, and even a miniature version of the Seventh Division's entrance.

There were models of animals—birds, fish, deer, wolves. Each was lifelike, in various poses.

There were also even smaller, more exquisite things.

A miniature chair.

A miniature gas lamp.

A miniature book, where blurry text could even be seen on the cover.

All these models had been crafted by Edna using her Cat paws!
