Veronica had once told Lin Xiaolu and Xia Liang during their lessons that a Magical Girl’s Magical Armor could be strengthened through effort and perseverance.
This wasn’t an empty claim—she was living proof of it. When she first beca a Magical Girl, her Magic Construct was nothing like what it was now.
Back then, she didn’t have the seemingly endless threads she now wielded, nor the Tailoring Scissors she currently held in her grasp. What she had was rely a sphere of magic threads, a simple, tangled ball of string.
When unraveled, it produced only a limited number of magic threads—weak, barely sufficient to restrain a Ravager’s movents now and then, but utterly lacking in lethality.
This fragile Magical Armor left Lin Yun deeply frustrated. Not only Aya, but even soone as aloof as Su Shengzi had offered him a few words of consolation out of sheer sympathy.
For a long ti afterward, Lin Yun treated his Magical Armor as a tool for controlling enemies, relying on basic magic techniques for combat.
This continued until he ascended to Leaf-tier. When his insight deepened, he noticed a drastic change—his magic threads had grown significantly stronger. They could restrain more powerful enemies, even sharpen to the point of slicing through weaker Ravagers outright.
He began specializing in thread-based combat, honing his craft with each battle. The more he used it, the more adept he beca. The more adept he beca, the more his power evolved. The more it evolved, the stronger it grew.
The number of threads multiplied. The strength of each strand beca as tough as steel.
But there was a limit.
Once his threads’ durability reached its peak, increasing his Magical Armor’s lethality beca a grueling challenge. Once again, Lin Yun felt his own limitations.
Was there a way to push himself even further?
He had agonized over this question in the past, desperately seeking a path to greater power.
And as if responding to his desire—his Magical Armor underwent another transformation.
The threads wove together, folding and reshaping under Veronica’s command. As though pulled by an invisible hand, they shed their semi-illusory form, coalescing into sothing entirely new.
Glowing blue magic threads intertwined, forming an exquisite sculpted cube.
Its center was hollow, encasing Veronica within like a protective chamber. Its outer surface bore intricate, lace-like patterns, so delicate it resembled a fragile piece of artwork.
The fish-shaped Ravager’s most powerful sonic attack crashed against this seemingly fragile construct—only to be completely neutralized.
"Unbelievable. If it had been given more ti, I doubt what I’d be facing would still be an Egg-tier Ravager," Veronica murmured, loosening her grip as the threads in her vision relaxed.
The threaded cube around her dissipated.
Her expression remained cold as she whispered, "Good thing I arrived before it was too late."
At those words, a low, resonant hum rippled through the vast expanse of magic threads.
As if answering the Ravager’s grand symphony from earlier, the hum rose in pitch—and suddenly, the magic threads woven throughout the cavern began to spin.
They rotated. Descended. Converged.
The transformation unfolded with ticulous precision. Blade-like magic patterns—seemingly harmless, yet impossibly sharp—began to manifest along the cavern walls.
More and more of these floating lace-like blades appeared, until the entire cavern was bathed in a vast, glowing ocean of blue light.
"If threads alone aren’t enough—then weave them into fabric."
"If fabric is too soft—then make the threads unyielding."
And when the woven fabric beca so durable and razor-sharp that nothing could stand against it—
It ceased to be fabric.
It beca an invincible weapon.
"Masterpiece."
That was the na Veronica had given to this form of her Magic Construct.
She had once used this ability when she saved Lin Xiaolu that night—but that ti, she had only fought a re Caterpillar-tier Ravager. It hadn’t warranted her unleashing her full strength.
Now, however—
There was no need to hold back.
At the cavern’s center, the fish-shaped Ravager had been completely ensnared.
Its maw opened and closed, but its body, compressed under the weight of the threads, could only produce stifled gasps of air.
Veronica raised her hand, lightly touching a few strands of magic thread.
Instantly—
The sharp humming resonance ceased.
The concert was over.
The entire ocean of blue light surged forward.
Like a storm, it descended upon the Ravager and its flesh appendages.
A mont later—only the sound of countless blades slicing through flesh filled the cavern.
The enormous fish-shaped Ravager, the Egg-tier Ravagers littering the floor, the writhing tendrils that had once filled the space—
All of them were reduced to shredded remains, scattered into the wind.
Collapse
The cavern trembled. The entire space began to crumble.
Amid the filthy water and mangled flesh, Veronica watched as countless glowing particles erged, drifting toward her outstretched palm.
By the ti Ravagers reached Egg-tier, their Echoes beca considerably more valuable. In The Kingdom, Echoes of this quality could be exchanged for greater contributions, granting access to better resources.
Though useless to Veronica herself, they would be invaluable in helping Lin Xiaolu and Xia Liang grow stronger—allowing them to stand on their own much sooner.
Long ago, soone had calculated that with optimal resource allocation, three Egg-tier Echoes were enough to ensure even the most untalented Magical Girl could reach Leaf-tier. And considering that Magical Girls also strengthened their magic through training and insight, three was more than enough.
Unfortunately, Moko had no ans of contacting The Kingdom at the mont. If she wanted to exchange these Echoes, she would have to return in person.
As this thought crossed her mind, Veronica surged forward, channeling magic beneath her feet to launch herself out of the collapsing cavern.
Yet—
Just before she departed, sothing in the water caught her eye.
She looked down—
Beside the Ravager’s mangled remains, in the center of the water, stood a structure.
A shrine.
Veronica’s pupils narrowed.
But the unstable space no longer allowed her to linger.
She burned the image into her mind before taking one last deep glance at the site—
Then, without hesitation, she accelerated, tearing through the air like a gust of wind, escaping the cavern at full speed.
As the Egg-tier Ravager perished, its lair collapsed into nothingness.
Veronica broke free, erging from the labyrinthine space into the sewers.
She flew swiftly, soon spotting an exit.
With a swift motion, she pushed open a manhole cover and ascended into the fresh air.
Yet, even as she breathed in the open sky—
Her expression remained grim.
She landed gracefully.
Without missing a beat, she retrieved her phone, waiting for it to reconnect to a signal.
The mont it did, she dialed a number.
"...Hello?"
A groggy female voice answered. "It’s the middle of the night. What is it?"
Veronica kicked the manhole cover, sealing it back into place.
Her voice was cold:
"I need an explanation."
"What exactly has your Counterasure Bureau been keeping from ?"
