Mayor Zheng’s furious roar echoed in every corner of the eting room.
It was the first ti they had seen Mayor Zheng lose his composure like this.
At the Standing Committee, he directly swore.
This was a rare occurrence.
However, after hearing what Mayor Zheng said next, they suddenly understood.
The entrance to the Bid and Tender Center had been blocked by people.
And they were ard with knives and clubs.
Such behavior was extrely abhorrent.
What puzzled them was, even if such an incident occurred, why should Mayor Zheng be the one to handle it?
Secretary Tu wasn’t angry; he calmly picked up a docunt.
The docunt contained text and photos.
He roughly finished reading the content and understood what had happened.
He stood up, faced Mayor Zheng, and earnestly said, "I indeed entrusted County Magistrate Hou with the public security issues in the county, but with this incident occurring, I, as the Secretary, bear an undeniable responsibility."
"I won’t avoid responsibility; I fully take responsibility for this issue."
"But I hope Mayor Zheng will give a chance to explain."
Mayor Zheng, still furious, didn’t respond but just watched him coldly.
Secretary Tu continued, "Since I took office as County Party Secretary, I have focused mainly on the county’s economy, traveling all over the country each month for investnt attraction and project negotiations."
"Therefore, I delegated the handling of big and small issues in the county to County Magistrate Hou, because I simply don’t have the energy to manage everything."
"County Magistrate Hou and I have always worked well together, and I have great trust in him. Because I spend less ti in the county each month, I always thought that he managed the county in an orderly manner, but unexpectedly..."
"Sigh."
Secretary Tu suddenly sighed and said, "Mayor Zheng, please believe , I care about the public security in the county even more than you do. Dujiang County is currently at a critical juncture of transitioning from a county to a city; how could I possibly allow such issues to arise at this ti?"
"I am eager for external developers to invest in Dujiang County to boost its economy; how could I possibly keep them out?"
Mayor Zheng’s gaze shifted slightly.
Secretary Tu continued, "Mayor Zheng, I say this not to shirk responsibility. I just want you to know that I wish for Dujiang County to beco better more than anyone else!"
He clenched his fists, and a hint of anger appeared on his calm face.
The Standing Committee mbers listened to his words in silence; no one spoke up in his defense.
So of the older leaders knew the situation in Dujiang County.
Like Minister Zhou, Secretary Wang, Director Qin...
They were well aware.
Only Wu Qiangwei had a limited understanding.
Mayor Zheng picked up a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag, saying, "The surveillance footage from the Bid and Tender Center was leaked to the internet."
"The Gu Family from Hong Kong Island, whom I have been hosting these last few days, intended to invest in Lingjiang, but because of this incident, they have already left."
"The direct economic loss is at least ten billion."
Hearing this, everyone suddenly realized.
No wonder he was so angry.
It turned out to be this.
Mayor Zheng extinguished the cigarette he had only taken two drags from and said, "If this happens again, you’d better write your own resignation."
Secretary Tu breathed a sigh of relief.
This crisis was over.
Mayor Zheng’s gaze then turned to Director Qin, whose heart tightened, knowing it was his turn now.
"Director Qin, such a significant incident happened in Dujiang County, and you didn’t know?"
"I truly didn’t know," Director Qin said. "Director Yao from Dujiang didn’t report it to . Plus, Mayor Zheng, you’re aware that the city bureau generally does not intervene in local matters."
"Ha!" Mayor Zheng said. "Dujiang County’s administrative level hasn’t reached city level yet; it’s still under Lingjiang’s jurisdiction, not just so locality!"
"A lapse in work is a lapse, don’t make excuses!"
Mayor Zheng had long held an opinion against him.
Before, he had not cooperated with his work, and now he still was not cooperating.
Just last week, he had personally called him, asking him to strengthen patrols, but then this had landed him big news.
Though he understood Director Qin couldn’t always keep an eye on the county,
at the very least, there should have been so attitude of admitting his mistake, right?
Looking at Secretary Tu’s attitude and then his, Mayor Zheng felt like pointing at his nose and cursing.
But he restrained himself.
Director Qin was not Secretary Tu; this guy deep down didn’t respect him.
He had just regained a bit of power and couldn’t push him too hard at this mont.
"If there’s a next ti, you can go to the CPPCC, and we’ll get soone competent in your place."
Dropping that remark, Mayor Zheng directly left the eting.
Director Qin’s face twitched, rage fuming within him.
Damn idiot, acting all high and mighty!
Giving you face, and you forget your own surna?
Song Guanchao was waiting outside the eting room, watching as the leaders ca out one after the other, his gaze lingering a few seconds longer on Secretary Tu.
This was his first encounter with the man who ran Dujiang County.
Rumors had it that this leader was domineering, yet he bore a gentle and refined deanor, giving off a very scholarly impression.
It was hard for him to imagine this man being overbearing.
Then, he saw Director Qin, face darkened and fists clenched, walking out.
Song Guanchao was curious; had Director Qin been criticized again?
Back in the office, Song Guanchao asked, "Secretary, it seed like Director Qin’s expression wasn’t too good."
Wu Qiangwei responded with a hum, "Mayor Zheng was a bit harsh."
She briefly ntioned Mayor Zheng’s criticism toward Director Qin.
Song Guanchao took a deep breath, "Mayor Zheng said that?"
"Hmm."
"This... what was Mayor Zheng thinking?"
He knew Mayor Zheng must have wanted to use this incident to take a dig at Director Qin.
But this obviously went beyond just taking a dig.
"Has Mayor Zheng beco arrogant?"
Although he was now vigorously pushing the economy with an attitude of not letting anyone bother him,
criticizing Director Qin like that was clearly too much.
Director Qin was no pushover.
Regarding this, Wu Qiangwei simply said, "It’s a long-accumulating resentnt that had inevitably erupted; I could see that this was the result of Mayor Zheng holding back."
Song Guanchao followed her line of thought for a mont and understood her aning.
Mayor Zheng had let out the resentnt suppressed over the years through this incident.
Of course, the main trigger was the Gu Family.
Wu Qiangwei then told him about the conversation between Mayor Zheng and Secretary Tu.
After listening, Song Guanchao clicked his tongue in admiration, "This Secretary Tu is not simple."
Wu Qiangwei nodded in agreent, "Indeed not simple. He must have researched Mayor Zheng, knowing how much he values the economy, so he emphasized his own contributions to the economic developnt of Dujiang County, resonating with Mayor Zheng and smoothly escaping a predicant."
"However, there’s sothing strange."
Wu Qiangwei furrowed her brows, "Since he knew Mayor Zheng cared about the city’s economy and that the city was actively cracking down on corruption and improving the business environnt, how could he still let such a situation occur?"
"Does he really trust County Magistrate Hou that much?"
Song Guanchao looked at her in surprise, our Secretary is finally sensing sothing’s off.
He smiled and said, "Secretary, what if there’s a possibility that he was deliberately letting it happen?"
