Liang Hao received a phone call.

Tomorrow, he too would have to attend the executive committee eting.

At the sa ti, Wu Qiangwei had requested that he consider stepping down from his position as Secretary of the Huayuan District Committee.

He didn’t agree outright, and Wu Qiangwei didn’t press him to make a decision imdiately, but she implied that if Huayuan District wasn’t handed over, the other party would continue to undermine it.

After hanging up the phone, Liang Hao dialed Song Guanchao’s number.

Upon learning there would be an executive committee eting tomorrow, Song Guanchao asked directly, "What are the main topics for tomorrow’s executive committee eting?"

Liang Hao said, "The elevation of Dujiang County to a county-level city, as well as Secretary Tu’s new personnel appointnts."

Just as expected.

Song Guanchao laughed, "At tomorrow’s executive committee eting, just wait and watch the drama."

"Watch the drama?"

Listening to Song Guanchao’s upbeat tone, Liang Hao, whose heart had been heavy, felt much more at ease.

He knew that Song Guanchao must have had so counterasures in place.

Liang Hao asked, "Has the investigation against you been resolved?"

"Not yet," Song Guanchao knew what he was worried about and said, "Don’t worry about that, I can resolve it whenever I want."

Liang Hao felt even more reassured, but he couldn’t understand why Song Guanchao hadn’t co to the City Committee if it could be resolved at any ti.

"At tomorrow’s executive committee eting, your issue will certainly be brought up; if you don’t resolve it, what if the Disciplinary Committee decides against you?"

He feared that Song Guanchao might not handle the situation properly.

"Don’t rush it; I rarely get ti to rest, so I’m giving myself a break."

"You really are laid-back," Liang Hao was speechless. At such a critical juncture, you’re still in the mood for a vacation.

However, this phone call greatly relieved the tension in his heart.

He was now sowhat looking forward to tomorrow’s executive committee eting, curious about what kind of "drama" Song Guanchao was referring to.

Song Guanchao looked out at the calm water, sighing softly to himself.

Since the investigation started, Wu Qiangwei hadn’t called him once.

He was not worried about being disciplined now, nor was he worried about the investigation by the Disciplinary Committee.

He was very aware that, even if he presented the surveillance to clear his suspicions, he probably wouldn’t return to the City Committee.

He didn’t know what Wu Qiangwei was disappointed about.

But he knew that he and Wu Qiangwei would likely go their separate ways—each walking their path under the sky.

In his heart, there was so regret.

But he was never one to look back or dwell on internal struggles.

Since their paths did not align, they should just wish each other well.

Not being the Secretary of the Municipal Committee and moving to another position, he was confident he could quickly make his mark.

The path he had tentatively set for himself was Dujiang County.

It was a place well-suited for a fresh start.

...

Tuesday, at ten o’clock in the morning.

The large conference room of the City Committee.

Director Qin, Vice Mayor Liang Hao, and so other departnt leaders were in attendance at the eting.

This included Tu Zhaorui, the County Party Secretary from Dujiang.

When it was ti, Secretary Lu said, "Let’s begin."

"The first topic is about the construction of the new high-speed rail in Lingjiang City."

"The project team has completed the survey of all the routes in Lingjiang City, and the survey report has been submitted to the National Railway Bureau. The project is currently applying for approval and is expected to be granted approval in the next few days."

Secretary Lu glanced at Mayor Zheng and said, "The survey process went very smoothly, Secretary Sun and the engineers from the National Railway Bureau worked very well together. After deep discussions with colleagues from the National Railway Bureau, we decided to have the original survey team continue to be responsible for the project after it is approved."

"Okay, let’s move on to the second topic..."

"Secretary Lu, I have a differing opinion," Mayor Zheng interrupted him.

He looked unfavorably at Secretary Lu, having ntally cursed every female ancestor of his to the eighteenth generation.

Old manipulator, you’re actually trying to gloss over this and take the project out of my hands?

What pipe dream are you having?

If Mayor Zheng hadn’t been paying full attention, he would have nearly been led down the garden path just now.

"Mayor Zheng, what is your opinion?"

"Since I applied for the high-speed rail project, I should continue to be responsible for it after it is approved. There’s no need to trouble Secretary Sun."

He didn’t beat around the bush.

Because he understood Secretary Lu, any hint of evasiveness or obscurity in such a matter, and the other party would directly grasp on to his words.

Secretary Lu chuckled and said, "Let’s just set it aside for now, we’ll discuss this matter further after the eting."

Mayor Zheng gave a grunt of acknowledgnt, and he hadn’t made things too unpleasant with him at the committee eting.

"The second agenda item is regarding the new personnel appointnt of Comrade Tu Zhaorui, the County Party Secretary of Dujiang County."

"This personnel appointnt was nominated and passed by the Provincial Committee during the committee eting, and now, I will read it to everyone."

"By the Nanjiang Province Committee..."

Secretary Lu recited a slew of words before concluding, "Comrade Tu Zhaorui will serve as the Deputy Mayor of Guangyue City and concurrently as a mber of the City Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Governnt Party Group."

Listening to Tu Zhaorui’s new appointnt, many cast surprised and envious glances.

Tu Zhaorui stood up and said, "I am thankful for the trust of the Provincial Committee leaders, as well as the care the City Committee leaders have shown over the years..."

He went through the usual pleasantries.

After sitting down, Secretary Lu said, "The third agenda item is concerning the discipline of Comrade Song Guanchao and so issues regarding his conduct."

Wu Qiangwei felt a sinking feeling in her heart, it had finally co.

Secretary Lu said, "Secretary Wang, you take it from here."

Secretary Wang felt a bitterness in his mouth, as by procedure, this issue shouldn’t have been brought up for discussion at the committee eting.

After all, it hadn’t been defined yet.

But it was forcefully placed on the agenda of the committee eting.

It was obvious that so committee mbers were deliberately targeting Song Guanchao.

And this targeting wasn’t even being disguised.

The eting room turned very quiet, everyone maintaining their postures without moving.

Several people’s gazes frequently darted towards Wu Qiangwei.

Secretary Wang coughed and said, "Regarding the disciplinary issue of Secretary Song, it is still under investigation, and the investigation is being led by Director Qin of the municipality."

Director Qin’s body tensed, cursing inwardly, why drag into this!

Seeing everyone looking at him, Director Qin struggled inwardly.

Whether to bring up the matter of that video.

ntioning it would offend Wu Qiangwei.

Not ntioning it would offend the committee mbers orchestrating against Song Guanchao.

After pondering, he decided to speak out.

After all, Wu Qiangwei was just one person.

Those orchestrating against Song Guanchao might not be just one committee mber.

Director Qin said, "The County Police Departnt has already clarified the situation, Secretary Song indeed took part in a brawl."

Wu Qiangwei remained silent.

Director Qin continued, "Regarding the cash in Secretary Song’s trunk, it has been forwarded to the forensics departnt, and as of now, we haven’t retrieved Secretary Song’s fingerprints."

"Okay, continue the investigation," Wu Qiangwei said indifferently, and she didn’t comnt on Song Guanchao’s involvent in the brawl.

She didn’t ntion it, and neither did anyone else.

After all, whoever voluntarily proposed disciplining Song Guanchao could easily be suspected of being the whistleblower.

Anyway, they were aware that Wu Qiangwei, even if she wanted to delay, couldn’t delay it for too long.

The discipline was a foregone conclusion.

However, while the discipline matter could be left unntioned, the cash in the trunk needed to be addressed.

"Director Qin, you might want to expedite this, don’t delay it too much," suggested Secretary Lu.

Mayor Zheng followed suit, speaking up, "Yes, let’s clarify the truth sooner. If it wasn’t Secretary Song, we need to quickly investigate who frad him."

While saying this, Mayor Zheng implied aningfully, "If Secretary Song was really frad unjustly, then the perpetrator is quite likely to take action again."

Secretary Lu also said, "Yes, we do need to clarify this quickly."

Once they spoke up, others also echoed them one after another.

Wu Qiangwei’s gaze fluctuated subtly; she knew that these people were reminding her to hand over Huayuan District soon.

Otherwise, the other party could continue to play dirty tricks on Song Guanchao.

She kept silent.

After communicating with Liang Hao yesterday, and seeing the reluctance between the lines, she couldn’t be too forceful.

But, she could only delay this until the next committee eting at most.

Before the next eting, if there was still no progress, regardless of whether Liang Hao agreed or not, she would have to hand over Huayuan District.

A thought suddenly struck Wu Qiangwei, if Song Guanchao were in her position, what would he do?
