Political examination, commonly known as political review, is also called the "Four Must-Checks."

Generally speaking, political review only happens when applying for governnt positions, to investigate whether any family mbers have committed illegal or undisciplined behavior.

This is the most basic level of review.

And such reviews are often quite simple.

But when the organization conducts a political review on an established official, it implies that there might be a problem with the person’s political background.

Even if nothing is discovered in the end, once word of such matters gets out, that person’s prospects for advancent are basically dood.

That’s why Lu Zhizhong and Zheng Bihui were so furious.

If they really were subjected to a political review, it wouldn’t just be a laughing matter among colleagues—their future would also beco bleak.

Song Guanchao was cutting off their political careers!

To tell the truth, the two were sowhat baffled.

Why would Song Guanchao do this?

Just because of the issue of carrying a gun, is it worth it?

Yes, it is!

It’s absolutely worth it!

To Song Guanchao, it didn’t matter at all what Lu Zhizhong did.

But he should never have allowed Liang Jiajia to be put in danger.

He definitely didn’t know about the relationship between Liang Jiajia and himself.

Of course, Song Guanchao believed that even if he did know, he would act the sa way.

He didn’t take Song Guanchao seriously at all, in his eyes, Song Guanchao was just a slightly capable secretary.

However angry, what kind of storm could he stir up?

Yet, he could never have anticipated that Song Guanchao, this little secretary, would really stir up a storm.

On the other end of the telephone, Shen Conglin listened to Song Guanchao’s words, detecting a deeply hidden anger in his calm tone.

Shen Conglin was sowhat surprised; he had never seen this youngster so angry before.

"I understand."

After hanging up, Song Guanchao’s mouth twitched, pulling into a smile, not wasting another word on them, and turned to leave.

Secretary Lu’s mind was sowhat unsettled, but he still maintained a calm façade, said a few comforting words to Liang Jianfeng, dispersed the dia, and approached Hu Zhengrong.

"Captain Hu, could you give Secretary Shen’s phone number?"

Hu Zhengrong, expressionless, sent him the number.

Secretary Lu, holding his cell phone, left the hospital.

Zheng Bihui hurried after him: "Is Song Guanchao trying to revolt against the heavens? A re secretary overstepping his bounds, to actually say such things in front of the dia, it’s utterly outrageous!"

Secretary Lu didn’t respond to him and dialed Secretary Shen’s number.

"Hello, Secretary Shen, this is Lu Zhizhong."

"Is there sothing you need, Secretary Lu?"

"Secretary Shen, I need to report tonight’s operations to you."

"I’m a political commissar of the military; you’re the City Secretary. We are from two different systems, and there’s no need for you to report to ."

"Secretary Shen, it was you who recomnded Song Guanchao, who then resolved the issue. In both sentint and reason, I should report to you."

"Go ahead."

Secretary Lu quickly relayed the events, highlighting his own decision to have Liang Jiajia carry a gun and explaining why he had done so.

He wasn’t afraid of the military region but worried about the other side reporting to the province.

Shen Conglin said, "I’ve heard about the incident from Secretary Song. Secretary Lu, I have to criticize you; you are at fault in this matter."

"It’s my fault; I admit my mistake."

"Secretary Song is right," soone said, "since he was given the command authority, do not interfere carelessly. Today you’re lucky there were no fatalities, but a second’s delay from Secretary Song, and Officer Liang would have been dead."

"Yes, I know."

"You don’t have to apologize to . After Secretary Song sends the report, I’ll forward it to the province, and you can explain it to them yourself."

Secretary Lu’s body tensed as he wanted to speak, but the other party had already hung up the phone.

Secretary Lu clutched the phone, his thoughts in turmoil, sowhat losing his composure.

Zheng Bihui asked, "What did Secretary Shen say?"

Secretary Lu replied, "He’s going to report to the province."

"Has he lost his mind?" Zheng Bihui hissed angrily, "It’s an issue within our city, why is the military getting involved?"

Secretary Lu had a severe headache, and he forcefully pinched the bridge of his nose.

Suddenly, he caught an important detail.

What Shen Conglin had said was that he would send the report to the province after receiving it from Song Guanchao.

The implication was already very clear.

To resolve the issue, they had to find Song Guanchao.

He imdiately shared this detail with Zheng Bihui, saying, "Find a way to make Song Guanchao not take this matter to heart."

Zheng Bihui frowned in silence, and after two seconds, suddenly sneered and cursed, "Damn Song Guanchao, that bastard is seizing the opportunity to ddle in my Old City renovation project!"

Secretary Lu didn’t attend to him and went back into the hospital.

Song Guanchao, Liang Jianfeng, and Wu Qiangwei, were still standing outside the ergency room.

He walked briskly over and approached Wu Qiangwei, "Secretary Wu, might I have a word with you?"

Wu Qiangwei glanced at Song Guanchao and walked with him to a corner.

Secretary Lu said earnestly, "Secretary Wu, this matter is my fault, but Secretary Song is still very angry. Even if I sincerely apologize, he will feel that I am trying to deflect bla. Could you perhaps speak to him?"

At that mont, Zheng Bihui also ca over, his face dark with anger, "Wu Qiangwei, you’re good at playing gas! Using such an incident as a pretext for the Old City renovation project, I’ve underestimated you!"

Wu Qiangwei frowned and took two seconds to understand what he was accusing her of.

Secretary Lu said, "Secretary Wu, let’s sit down and have a proper chat about this. We can talk about everything, there’s nothing that can’t be discussed. Lingjiang City has had too many incidents lately, we really can’t afford any more complications."

He did not resort to threats.

Neither Song Guanchao nor Wu Qiangwei were the type to be threatened by such tactics as it would only backfire.

Wu Qiangwei remained silent the entire ti, allowing them to ramble for several minutes before saying, "You two should go back first."

Secretary Lu replied with a wry smile, "Officer Liang is still in there, how can I leave? It’d be good if you’d take my words into consideration, Secretary Wu."

"Okay," Wu Qiangwei said shortly and turned to leave when the door of the ergency room opened.

The doctor had just co out when Liang Jianfeng imdiately asked, "How is it?"

"The injury is not serious," the doctor replied, "With so rest, it will heal. The wound must not get wet during this period."

The nurse wheeled out the bed, and Liang Jiajia was covered with a blanket, only her little face showing. She had regained so color in her face but was still asleep.

Everyone followed the nurse into the ward.

Liang Jiajia soon woke up and, upon opening her eyes, saw a group of people surrounding her.

Her gaze imdiately found Song Guanchao, and seeing the concern and tenderness in his eyes, Jiajia felt a sudden surge of happiness.

Wu Qiangwei noticed her look and sighed quietly to herself.

"Officer Liang, you’ve suffered," Secretary Lu said apologetically, "I should not have let you carry a gun."

Zheng Bihui added, "Officer Liang, you were very brave today. On behalf of the city governnt, I thank you. The kindergarten children are safe because of your effort!"

Liang Jiajia managed a smile, "I am a police officer. It’s my duty."

Noticing Liang Jianfeng’s impatient expression, Secretary Lu did not stay long, exchanged a few words, and then excused himself to leave.

After they left, Wu Qiangwei ca up to Song Guanchao and said, "I’m heading back now. Finish up and co to my house later, I have sothing to tell you."
