Hu Baiyu’s eyes softened the mont Lin Huahua understood what he ant.
To be honest, when the white lion signed that he would prepare hot water for her bath, he was not only thinking about helping her. Deep inside his heart, he was also quietly thinking that this was finally his chance to do sothing useful.
Mu Qingyi had already taken the at to wash and cut it.
Feng Yiren was washing those strange leaves Lin Huahua treasured so much, although the fox still looked like he wanted to argue with the leaves themselves.
Only Hu Baiyu had been standing there without doing anything.
How could he not feel anxious?
He wanted to help her too.
He wanted to show her that even though he was injured, he could still do things for her. He could still be useful. He could still take care of her. Most importantly, he wanted her to see that his feelings for her had never changed.
Even if he could not speak, even if he was clumsy with words because there were no words, he still wanted to use his actions to tell her that he loved her very much.
This was his chance.
His lion heart imdiately decided that he had to seize it properly.
Lin Huahua, on the other hand, nearly wanted to cry with gratitude.
Finally.
Finally, there was soone in this Stone Age beast world willing to help her solve this terrifying bath problem.
For a mont, Lin Huahua even felt that Hu Baiyu’s tall and broad figure had beco wrapped in holy light.
Her eyes curved happily, and even the corners of her little mouth turned up.
Because she was a white rat beastwoman, the mont she got happy, her expression naturally beca extra lively. Her eyes brightened. Her nose wrinkled a little. Her small fingers even curled together unconsciously, making her look like a soft little creature who had just discovered a hidden pile of snacks.
"Really?" Lin Huahua asked, her voice light and sweet now. "Thank you."
Hu Baiyu looked at her.
Then he looked away for one second.
Then looked back again.
Because when she smiled at him like that, his chest imdiately tightened.
The lion who had only wanted to do a simple useful thing suddenly felt as if he had been rewarded far too much. His ears twitched faintly, and if his tail had not been trying so hard to stay dignified, it would probably have swept the ground already.
Lin Huahua was curious now.
Very curious.
In her eyes, Hu Baiyu was injured, silent, huge, and handso, but she still had no idea how this beast world bathing system worked. So she took two quick steps toward him and asked, "Can I follow you?"
The mont those words ca out, Hu Baiyu’s expression changed.
He imdiately shook his head.
Very quickly.
Too quickly.
It was so quick that Lin Huahua blinked in surprise.
Hu Baiyu then lifted both hands and signed to her in a steady but slightly urgent way. Outside was cold. Outside was dangerous. He would bring a tub for her. He would heat water for her. She should stay inside where it was safe.
Lin Huahua stared at his hands, then at his face.
This lion really took this matter seriously.
She puffed her cheeks a little, because a small part of her still wanted to follow and see how things were done here. But then she thought about the cold outside, thought about the rough Stone Age ground, thought about the possibility of so strange beast jumping out sowhere, and imdiately lost most of that adventurous spirit.
Hu Baiyu was right.
Even she herself did not want to put herself in trouble.
So Lin Huahua only gave a small pout and said, "Fine."
Although the word sounded unwilling, she actually accepted it very quickly.
Hu Baiyu saw that she was listening obediently and visibly relaxed.
Then he turned and headed off to make arrangents for her bath, his large figure moving with a quiet steadiness that made people feel safe for so reason. Even injured, he still looked reliable. That kind of reliability was very different from Feng Yiren’s sly confidence and Mu Qingyi’s careful gentleness. Hu Baiyu’s way was silent and firm. It was like a mountain deciding it would do sothing and then simply doing it.
Lin Huahua watched him go, and in her heart she gave him ten whole points.
This lion was really too good.
Once Hu Baiyu left, Lin Huahua was finally alone.
The cave house suddenly felt quiet. Outside, she could still hear so faint sounds now and then, the movent of people, the soft crackle of fire, the rustle of leaves, but inside her own little cave ho, things settled.
Lin Huahua stood there and looked around properly.
This cave house was not just one empty space. Thankfully, it was more like a tiny apartnt in the Stone Age era. There were several parts separated by hide curtains, and the space had been arranged as well as possible. There were three bedrooms in total, each hidden behind thick animal hide curtains. So were smaller. So were a little more spacious. The one that belonged to her was clearly the biggest, because even in this life Lin Huahua had still been treated like a treasure.
Still, as Lin Huahua looked around, she was not exactly impressed.
The floor was stone.
The walls were stone.
The decorations were, in her opinion, barely trying.
There were hides, wooden racks, bundles of herbs, and stone shelves rubbed smooth with use, but compared to the kind of clean shining advanced rooms she was used to in the sci-fi world, this place still looked terribly primitive.
Lin Huahua folded her arms and muttered in her heart that this place truly deserved the title of Stone Age.
Then she comforted herself very quickly.
Whatever.
It was fine.
She would not stay here forever anyway.
When the ti ca, she would return to her original world.
Once she returned, there would be proper bathing rooms, proper beds, proper lights, and absolutely no need to wonder whether her water would be heated in a pot by a giant silent lion.
Thinking that way, Lin Huahua imdiately felt better.
So she stopped complaining and began to walk around more boldly, peeking here and there like a curious little rat inspecting a new nest.
As she walked, so mories from this body’s old life naturally rose in her mind.
