Kyren’s POV

*****

When he charged at Garrick in the pocket-dinsional cage, he knew a battle here would be catastrophic. Closed. And indeed caged.

But he never expected a portal to open up behind his father before he could attack.

"While I’d love to gauge the power of a transcendent cored mage..." Garrick grinned slyly. "You’re obviously cracking. So consider this your ti out."

With that, Garrick fell into the portal, the damn thing sealing up instantly.

"NO!" Kyren roared, slicing through the air when he got to the spot his father was a millisecond ago.

The force of his slash sent a wave, hurtling through the dark void and crashing into a wall in the distance.

"Damn you, Garrick." He drew out a sickly green crystal with a swipe of his palm. The cursed crystal. "I said I’ll have your head. I don’t care if I’ll have to tear through space ti to make that happen."

His aura and magic flared with his words. The pocket space trembled, flashes of green and crimson above becoming erratic.

Kyren tapped into his core, casting his spell to track Garrick. The cursed crystal was still linked to him. He could still find him—he just had to hone in deeper.

And it didn’t take long for that.

Within seconds, a shimring black portal ripped through the space in front of Kyren. It hissed with chaotic energy from the void. But Kyren knew Garrick was definitely on the other side.

"Let’s go hunting." His grin beca wolfish, his instincts sharp with bloodlust.

With a leap, he went into the spatial tear.

.

.

At the other side of the spatial tear, Kyren’s eyes narrowed with surprise.

He was levitating hundreds of ters in the sky. Not the Dark Lands. Not Lunaria...

"Arcadia..." He recognised the sll of nature in the air, as well as the sky which seed tinted with pure mana. Other than that, several crystal towers floated around him, so connected by glass tubes that people used to navigate between each building.

Glittering transit rails were placed ticulously, carrying hover vehicles.

If he wasn’t wrong, this architecture and city planning is from the Arcadian capital city.

"Where are you, piece of shit?" Kyren closed his eyes, clutching the cursed shard tighter.

His consciousness stretched wide like a radar, scanning past the thousands of witches. And searching for ONE body hopping bastard—

"Found you." He spotted him.

Flying—surprisingly—toward a massive floating obsidian tower with equally massive golden rings rotating around it. Garrick had golden energy covering him like a coat.

"Trying to run, father?" Kyren’s body ignited with crimson flas. The flas roared, blazing hotter and hotter until the air around him began burning.

In a second, Kyren teleported, appearing just a few ters in front of Garrick. Floating between him and the obsidian tower.

His grin widened when he saw his old man’s features pale.

"Die!" The Rogue king didn’t waste a second, swiping both hands forward.

Two twin sharp waves of crimson energy appeared, shooting toward Garrick. The latter’s black armour glowed with a mix of crimson and green runes as he dodged, swerving to his left.

But Kyren reacted quickly, mana core pulsing like a second sun. He froze the blasts before they could hit any of the floating crystal buildings. Then, with a hand twist, they rged, twisting and sparking until the energy compressed into a head-sized ball.

The sky shifted from its sunny, peaceful look into an apocalyptic, burning shade of red.

"Halt!" A voice echoed through a speaker.

Kyren felt the presence of two Arcadian sky crafts heading toward them, weapons pulled out and pointing like he was a helpless bird.

At this point, his bloodlust clouded his mind, pushed forward by the restrictions he’s placed on his mana core over the centuries falling apart.

"Don’t do sothing you’ll regret, Kyren!" Garrick yelled, words brimming with hesitation. "You’re surrounded. This is—"

"WE are surrounded." Kyren corrected, raising his right hand slowly.

His father tensed, hands clenching beside himself in preparation. Alas, he was no longer Kyren’s only target.

The Rogue King’s head turned, gaze landing on the sky crafts. With a wave, the condensed ball of crimson energy behind Garrick moved, shooting straight at the sky crafts.

BOOM!

They exploded instantly, scraps and fire spreading for tens of ters. Screams of civilians sounded from every corner of the city.

A look down and Kyren realised buildings and people were still on the ground level.

The screams below should’ve registered as lives. Innocents.

But to Kyren? They were collateral damage. Noise between him and his little fla.

Elian.

He could sense him in the floating obsidian tower.

Kyren’s breath hitched for a second—barely—before fury drowned it.

The sudden spike in distress through the mate bond hit him like a jagged spear. His instincts sharpened instantly, shredding through the bloodlust fog for just a heartbeat.

It wasn’t full clarity, but enough to force his attention to the tower’s direction.

"Elian...?" he whispered, voice low and feral.

A wrongness was coiling from that place. Soone had Elian. Soone dared touch what was his.

The air rippled around Kyren.

Before he could pinpoint the exact spot, Garrick lunged forward, fist crackling with alpha aura, slamming into Kyren’s jaw and sending a shockwave across the sky.

Kyren barely budged.

In fact... he smiled.

"You still haven’t learned," Kyren growled, grabbing Garrick by the throat mid-air. "I don’t break. I don’t bow. And you—" flas burst from Kyren’s wrist, wrapping around Garrick’s armour. "You’re not taking him from ."

He smashed Garrick downward with enough force that the clouds caved around them like ruptured fabric. The bastard plumted hundreds of ters before stabilising, snarling back up at him.

Kyren’s vision tinted red again, pupils thinning.

The cracks holding back his transcendent core... They were splintering. Fast.

Every breath he took pulsed with ancient, wild mana that had once toppled cities. If he lost control completely, the Arcadian capital would simply cease to exist.

And still—

Elian’s faint presence flickered in the back of Kyren’s mind like a lighthouse in a storm.

’Hold on, little fla... just hold on—’

Kyren teleported again, appearing behind Garrick and driving an elbow coated in crimson fire into his spine. The resulting blast sent Garrick hurling into a floating crystal rail system. The track bent like molten tal.

"KYREN OF THE DARK LANDS!" A booming voice cracked through the sky.

Four pillars of shimring light shot up around him, forming a loose periter. The mana density spiked—enough to choke even him for a second.

The Arcadian Councillors had arrived.

Quaint.

Hover platforms materialised beneath their feet as they descended from the sky—a coordinated show of force Arcadia only used when facing threats.

...and right now, Kyren apparently was one.

Councillor Morwen floated at the forefront, hands clasped behind her back, cloak fluttering in the burnt-red wind. Her hair hovered as if underwater. Her eyes glowed with a deep, void-like blue.

Ah... a transcendent core witch.

Of course, she was the first to step forward. She always loved playing the hero.

The three behind her—Councillors Aldus, Fourin, and Jexar—were all Celestial core mages, just one level beneath her. Their energy swirled like storm systems trapped inside their skin.

"Withdraw your magic imdiately," Morwen commanded, voice amplified through the entire sky. "You are destabilising the capital and endangering

civilians. Stand down, Rogue King."

Kyren bared his teeth, flas roaring taller around him.

"Move," he snarled.

Absolute silence.

Councillor Aldus stepped forward, voice stern. "Your target is Beta Axel. We can apprehend him. But this destruction can’t—"

"You think I care?" Kyren spat, aura exploding in a violent pulse that sent their hover platforms swaying.

Jexar raised a massive crystalline shield, bracing. "He’s lost control—"

"WRONG." Kyren’s shout cracked the nearest floating tower. "I’m DONE controlling myself."

Morwen flicked her fingers.

A chain of pure blue mana shot toward him.

Kyren didn’t dodge.

He caught it with one hand.

The chain hissed, trying to bind his wrist—but Kyren squeezed, shattering it like glass.

The councillors collectively inhaled.

"You are violating Arcadian airspace." Fourin started. "Not to ntion the treaty we had before you left for Lunaria."

Kyren’s eyes snapped to the obsidian tower instead.

Elian’s presence flared—panicked, weakened... then suddenly spiked with sudden impossible power.

The ruby necklace.

Kyren’s pupils dilated sharply.

That ruby necklace was the final piece of the seal holding back his core. But its sudden activation ant one thing:

Elian’s in danger.

The whole world tilted into focus. Every drop of rage, madness, bloodlust—all of it funnelled into one pinpoint clarity:

Get. To. Him.

And nothing—NO ONE—was standing in his way.

He teleported upward, bursting past the councillors before they could react. Morwen tried to bind him again; Aldus tried to freeze the air; Jexar launched a suppression field—

All of it slid off him like mist.

Garrick reached for him from below—too slow.

Kyren reappeared atop the tallest floating crystal tower, flas sinking into his skin, raw power coiling around him like a divine cloak.

And that’s when he felt it.

Elian’s signature escaping the obsidian tower in a flare of crimson light.

Kyren’s breath left him in a violent exhale.

"Little fla..." he whispered—half prayer, half promise.

His eyes burned.

He locked onto the exact direction Elian teleported.

His little fla was a safe distance away and had the ruby necklace. Which ans—

"No more holding back." Space ti twisted around him, distorting and changing until a tear ripped through the fabric behind him.

A mini black hole. Hovering behind him like a halo.

"Rogue King!" Morwen yelled, but her voice bood with panic.

Kyren didn’t care, snapping his fingers—
