Daniel's expression shifted.

There was no surprise in his voice.

"My uncle's the type who enjoys ssing with people like you," Daniel added casually. "Honestly, he's been doing it his whole life—he's practically the reason my parents have high blood pressure."

"So who are you?" he asked.

His hand moved.

The scythe ford instantly, black tal shaping itself into existence with a faint, heavy hum that seed to pull the air inward. The temperature in the room dropped, the weapon carrying a presence that didn't belong in this world.

"Just die," Daniel said, his tone no longer casual.

The Shadow King didn't flinch.

Instead, he laughed.

A low, distorted sound that didn't quite match the human body he was wearing.

"Hehehe…"

The shadow beneath his feet shifted.

At first it looked like a trick of the light, then it began to move—stretching outward, thickening, rising slightly from the floor like sothing alive. The air around it felt wrong, heavy, as if the space itself resisted its presence.

"I learned one thing from your uncle," he said, his voice steadier now, almost amused. "You don't fight when you don't have your power."

The shadows surged.

"And you… are not him."

Before Daniel could close the distance, the floor beneath the Shadow King split into darkness. His body sank into it, the shadow swallowing him whole in a single fluid motion.

That sounded exactly like sothing Luke would do.

Daniel glanced down at his hand.

Daniel flexed his fingers slightly.

"So you can run,"

"But you can't escape."
