So say there has never been fairness in this world, for in a world where power determines all, it has always been survival of the fittest. But others claim that such a principle is fair because everyone has a chance to be favored by power. The rewards correspond to the effort, and without equivalent exchange, there is no power.

Regardless of whether the world is fair or not, everyone on Guru Mountain faced the sa situation at that mont.

Everyone was sighing emotionally. They failed to notice that among these scattered souls, so were reluctant to depart.

Certain souls among those departing were mavericks, showing no revulsion to being confined. They felt that their devouring by the Dark Force was a testant to the destiny for which they had been chosen. They yearned to linger in this world for a long ti, believing their long-term confinent by the Dark Force was an indication of their immortality. The Dark Force was worshipped by them as their divine lord. They were servants of their lord and even believed that one day they would be freed by their deity to achieve a truly immortal body.

However, their dreams had been shattered. They too were hysterical and furious, but they hadn't had ti to understand what was happening before ti swept them away.

Angry people always feel that ti passes quickly, and that was how ti treated them—gone in an instant. They did not have ti to understand why others were so happy or what sorrows those others were expressing before they vanished into thin air...

So souls found peace, while others left with resentnt; the contrast was stark.

Of the tens of thousands of souls devoured by the Dark Force, only two managed to remain in this world.

One was Hustace, a young man whose face was filled with astonishnt as he experienced what was happening to him and around him. Confusion and incredulity covered his entire face.

He experienced pain and joy, fear and hope. The complex emotions froze him on the spot; he knew it would take a long ti to digest these experiences.

The other soul that didn't dissipate was Wizard Reed, a wizard who worshipped the Dark Force and now felt utterly dismayed, believing he had been abandoned.

Both Wizard Reed and Hustace had been devoured by the Dark Force, the lost Spirit, not long ago, and it was for this reason that their souls weren't devoured. Ti had not yet been able to take them away. Having been imprisoned for such a short period, they were able to linger for a mont within the confined space.

Hustace was filled with shock and confusion, and he needed ti to process his experiences.

But Wizard Reed was different. This man had previously worshipped the Power of Darkness and had never envisioned being devoured when he summoned it. Although he had been surprised at the ti, he had felt a supre glory during the process of being devoured.

I am the chosen one! he had felt.

Hoping to achieve an immortal body, he hadn't resisted one bit, willingly sacrificing himself. This was truly an incredible thing.

Now, Wizard Reed was back. He found that he hadn't received the immortal body but had instead returned to where he started, which upset him profoundly.

While others were filled with emotion, he carefully observed, looking for the culprit who had shattered his dream.

Dark Wizard Reed had never been afraid of these people, and now he was filled with even more fury. He had always been ready to go all out, so he didn't care about anything anymore. His destiny had already changed, only to be suddenly reversed, which was incredibly frustrating. It was like being pushed down when you were almost at the top of a mountain; the feeling was excruciating.

In Wizard Reed's eyes, all these people were despicable and didn't belong in this world. These people had not only ruined his advancent but had also caused the disappearance of his deity. His deity had vanished before he'd had the chance to genuinely interact with it, leaving him filled with regret. He was filled not just with regret, but also with anger.

The more relieved these people appeared, the angrier he beca. He vowed to slaughter them all.

Having just been freed from the confined space, he was already very weak and thus unlikely to mount an imdiate counterattack. However, he was not afraid of this. His advantage lay in his knack for concealnt, and he wouldn't fear these people before him. Besides, these people were absorbed in a peaceful farewell atmosphere and did not realize his presence at all.

These people will soon find out that everything is back to square one, he mused. Wizard Reed is back.

Moreover, he had not co out of the confined space empty-handed. Though his freedom had been restricted, he had observed many different Dark Arts within it, witnessing clearly the thods to control natural elents and the secrets of the Binding Arts. This Dark Force had devoured many, many people—people who were not ordinary and possessed exceptional skills. And Wizard Reed had learned all these skills there, without omission.

Wizard Reed had always pursued shortcuts. He knew that shortcuts weren't free; they rely demanded a steeper price. However, he had long since abandoned many things. In his view, any price could be paid, anything could be sacrificed, as long as it made him stronger.

Now, Wizard Reed was an entirely different person. His power was sowhat stronger than before, for he had mastered so new shortcuts.

My deity has disappeared, and I don't know when I'll encounter another, he fud. It's all their fault, those bastards! I must destroy them all! Sooner or later, these people will taste fear. They will soon feel the pain of loss... I will let them know what true power dictates this world!

At this mont, everything had settled, and the vanished souls had all departed.

The expressions of sentint hadn't ceased, as if all this had made everyone more emotional.

No one noticed that Wizard Reed had also returned. They now had a new, latent danger to face—an old foe they had never truly t before.

Wizard Reed's ability to recover was formidable. Anger engulfed him. He discarded all missions and ultimate ideals, yearning for revenge, yearning to make everyone experience the pain he felt from losing his deity!

Before long, the short-lived peace on Guru Mountain was about to be broken...
