Now reading: Chapter 983 - 981: Igor’s Observation (Part 1) from One-Eyed Monster, a Fantasy novel by Weyyao.

Sol ignored the Soul Devourer Master’s question and didn’t imdiately attack after transmitting the ssage. The release and collection of energy had been frequent lately, and the energy flowing within his body seed to be lagging behind. This was a sign of a loosened energy reserve, and Sol needed to adjust and not blindly launch an attack.

The Soul Devourer Master curiously watched this scene unfold, showing no intention of attacking, as if it was a truce reached after a fight between two experts, with both sides instinctively stopping their attacks.

"So that’s what you call trust? Look at them, they’ve all retreated!" The Soul Devourer Master seed to speak with a sense of triumph in his voice. To him, this was amusing, as if it was a complete slap in the face for Sol.

All that talk about united hatred, mutual trust, and always thinking of each other — it was all so fragile. Look, aren’t the resistors retreating now? How many are really standing with Sol in battle?

The few who stayed were quite comndable, sticking to their word, holding onto faith, and constantly protecting Sol, unlike those reinforcents on the periter, who were starting to retreat now...

They were a rabble after all, just as I said before.

Look at Sol’s current expression; it’s truly satisfying!

The Soul Devourer Master was completely lost in his fantasies at this mont, seemingly unable to extricate himself.

"Look, strength determines everything. In front of soone as powerful as , everyone shows nothing but fear and retreat!" The Soul Devourer Master was practically soaring with confidence.

Sol hadn’t expected that his ssage transmission would lead the Soul Devourer Master to such a feeling. This guy was spiraling deeper into his mistakes, seemingly beyond saving.

But Sol didn’t imdiately refute the Soul Devourer Master this ti. After all, past experiences taught him that excessive engagent with the Soul Devourer Master would cause him to overlook certain situations, leading to anomalies in his analysis. He was already regretful for not paying attention earlier, and it was a mistake he wouldn’t repeat.

Taking this mont, Sol adjusted his aura, striving to suppress the fluctuations in his energy reserve, because he knew the real battle was yet to co. While the Soul Devourer Master was lost in his fantasies, he would eventually return to reality, still with the intent of taking everyone away. This so-called taking away ant devouring their consciousness to make it his own.

The Soul Devourer Master’s initial target was Igor; he ca to seize the power within Igor.

Suddenly, Sol noticed that Igor was unusually quiet, too quiet for Igor.

Despite the short ti spent with Igor, mostly amidst battles, Sol had co to understand Igor’s temperant. As a leader of a group of resistors, Igor was adept at reading situations.

The other resistors were on high alert, eager to contribute their strength against the Soul Devourer Master, but Igor remained deep in thought, with a furrowed brow.

Such behavior from Igor was unusual, but at this mont, Sol didn’t have the luxury of helping the young man.

Hopefully, the young man hadn’t fallen into an illusion like the Soul Devourer Master.

"Heh, hahaha! Your subordinates have all felt my power! Why do you remain so stubborn?" The Soul Devourer Master bellowed at Sol.

"Your dream’s a bit too long!" Sol didn’t engage much with the Soul Devourer Master, instead, he unleashed a bolt of lightning, resuming his attack.

"Still stubborn!" The Soul Devourer Master quickly retaliated with an Energy Light Ball.

Sol continued to release his energy, having already sent out the ssage. Once he started attacking, all the resistors were to form the Cage Array, trapping the Zombie Soul Devourers within. Even if the Soul Devourer Master managed to awaken these husks, they wouldn’t be able to surround the resistors. The Cage Array wasn’t sothing that could be easily breached by sheer numbers, and even if these soul devourers did break through, the resistors would find a new hiding spot, allowing Sol to confront the Soul Devourer Master more effectively.

Originally, Sol thought he had the capital to battle the Soul Devourer Master. However, he now realized he was rely struggling to face the Soul Devourer Master head-on. Sol could sense that the Soul Devourer Master’s energy was abundant, capable of multitasking while attacking.

For instance, right now, the Soul Devourer Master was astonished at the formation of the resistors’ array: "How did they form an array? Weren’t they retreating just now..." At the sa ti, he unleashed three Yellow Energy Balls at Sol.

Sol ignored the Soul Devourer Master’s words, skillfully dodging the energy balls while releasing lightning.

"You truly are a bunch of strange creatures!" The Soul Devourer Master was growing impatient as Sol remained silent.

The resistors’ array gradually expanded, erecting one Incarceration Cage after another on the ground.

"Cage Array, what for, to imprison those fallen wastes?"

The Soul Devourer Master had devoured many kinds of power and naturally recognized such formations.

Sol wasn’t too surprised by this, but he couldn’t grasp why the soul devourers remained unsummoned, and why the Soul Devourer Master referred to his subordinates as waste. That seed off!

Shouldn’t he be astonished that his plan was seen through? Why did he feel sothing inexplicable and unrelated?

Sol stared at the Soul Devourer Master, suddenly realizing that things weren’t as he had imagined!

"What you said before seems reasonable. It looks like I was wrong this ti. So, you retreating resistors were setting up an array all along!" the Soul Devourer Master continued.

Sol stared blankly at the Soul Devourer Master, distinctly sensing the rapid expansion of energy reserves within this bastard...

This bastard was absorbing the power of all the soul devourers, his devouring thod!

"As I said before, no one is reliable, not one. Only oneself is reliable. These wastes can only serve this purpose after all!" The Soul Devourer Master shrugged, mimicking Sol’s gesture.
