"Without you, I guarantee that the Whitebeard Pirates and your affiliated crews will be completely wiped out by the Marines and other pirate groups within three years. This overprotective nature towards your subordinates will eventually kill your own people, Whitebeard." Facing the deflected bullets, Alucard neither dodged nor flinched, letting them rebound. He comnted on Whitebeard’s act of protecting his subordinates.
"If I just stood by and watched my sons die, what kind of father would I be?!" Whitebeard glared, and everyone, both on the Moby Dick and the other pirate ships, looked at him with intense fervor and mad adoration.
This was Whitebeard’s unique charisma, allowing him to quickly beco the strongest man in the world after Shiki and Roger had exited the stage.
However, Whitebeard’s unique charisma had almost beco a form of cult-like worship, excessively deified.
This issue was evident in the Summit War.
Initially, the Whitebeard Pirates and Marine Headquarters were evenly matched, but once Whitebeard was hit, their morale plumted, and they were suppressed by Marine Headquarters.
After Whitebeard’s death, there’s even less to say; if Shanks hadn’t intervened, the Whitebeard Pirates would have been annihilated at Marineford.
Simply put, Whitebeard had overprotected his so-called "sons," causing them to beco overly dependent on him.
"Stop wasting words with him, Pops!" A mber of the Whitebeard Pirates’ Second Division walked up to Whitebeard, glaring hatefully at Alucard. The furious Whitebeard crewman indicated, "Let this guy sink to the bottom of the sea right now! We’ll avenge Captain Drew!"
"I agree!" Third Division Commander Jozu raised his hand and gave the order. The opponent was just a pirate, and an enemy of the Whitebeard Pirates at that. This was reason enough to start a war. "All ship cannons, prepare! Sink this guy to the bottom of the sea in one go!"
Instantly, on the Moby Dick and along the sides of ten other pirate ships under the Whitebeard Pirates, the dark muzzles of the cannons on their outer hulls began to turn, aiming at Alucard in the center, making him the target of all eyes.
This was how battles at sea typically unfolded, especially ship-to-ship combat; destroying the enemy’s vessel was always the first step. Moreover, in this era rife with Devil Fruits, sinking the ship first could largely prevent fighting against abnormal Devil Fruit users.
A rough estimate counted five cannons per ship, totaling over fifty gun turrets, but there were definitely many more that Alucard hadn’t yet seen due to their angles.
"What a grand display... I told you, I’m just one person. Do you really need to make such a big scene?"
Facing dozens of cannon turrets, Alucard remained seated on his "small boat’s" bow chair, his hands clasped over his crossed knees. Due to his sunglasses, his expression remained unreadable.
"Don’t call us despicable. That’s just how pirate battles are. At least we’ll give you a quick end!" Flower Blade Vista stroked his long, curly mustache and said.
"Captain Vista is right!"
"You should have expected this outco when you killed Captain Drew!"
"Even if you beg for rcy now, we won’t spare you!"
"You can only bla yourself for not having a single comrade!"
Thousands of people shouted in unison. Alucard’s lips curled up on both sides, revealing his unique vampire fangs. He chuckled to himself, ’I have many comrades, probably over twenty thousand, you just can’t see them...’
"Fire!"
At that command, people on each ship gave their orders. Countless dark cannonballs rained down like a storm.
Most people watched this scene excitedly, eagerly awaiting the mont a few seconds later when Alucard and his ship would be blasted into the sea. A few powerful individuals, including Whitebeard himself and his division commanders, all wore serious expressions.
Regardless of whether Alucard was a Devil Fruit user, he certainly wouldn’t be killed so easily. Would he use bullets to shoot down each cannonball? Or would he deliberately ram them with his body? Or perhaps use so unseen, strange ability?
As Jozu and the others speculated on how Alucard would deal with the cannonballs, Alucard’s iron ship suddenly turned red beneath him, covered in countless crimson eyes.
In an instant, Alucard’s nacing ship began to move at an incredibly fast pace.
Its speed on the sea surface was comparable to a human’s!
Fast!
Even more exaggerated, it was incredibly agile. Agile like a Fish-Man! Or even... a rmaid!
Even Whitebeard’s eyes widened slightly at the ship’s speed. In a flash, Alucard steered his ship around the Moby Dick, using its sharp bow to swiftly pierce through a ship more than four tis its size, located next to the Moby Dick.
In a blink of an eye, a massive hole appeared in the ship’s hull, and its most crucial "dragon spine" position was damaged to its limit.
"W-what kind of speed is that?"
"Is that even a ship?"
"It’s even faster than a Fish-Man."
The people on the Moby Dick were completely stunned, their faces filled with horror. At this mont, Vista was the first to react, roaring, "Do you have ti to be surprised?! Quick, save them!"
Only then did the others snap out of it.
One ship had already sunk.
Non-Devil Fruit users quickly dove into the water to rescue people, while so threw life preservers.
Alucard, however, wasn’t idle.
He controlled his iron ship, using its sharp bow to pierce through three more Whitebeard Pirates’ affiliated ships in rapid succession.
No matter how sturdy they were, they were made of wood. Could they really be harder than steel?
