In the Marine Headquarters’ Scientific Research Laboratory, the mont Vegapunk placed a drop of blood onto the testing platform, the previously quiescent cells on the screen suddenly beca incredibly active.
The substance Vegapunk had dropped onto the platform was, naturally, sothing extracted from the blood clot the World Governnt had provided him for experintation.
Vegapunk discovered that the cells within were highly corrosive, destructive, and aggressive. The corrosive nature allowed them to devour and replace the host’s original bodily components, while their aggressive and destructive properties could break through the limits of the human body, even greatly reducing pain receptors, thereby transforming the host into a fear-pain-immune, blood-crazed monster.
It had to be said that Vegapunk truly lived up to his title as a man whose intellect was said to be five hundred years ahead of the world. Even without much information from the World Governnt, he had already researched these materials more thoroughly than the World Governnt itself understood.
Vegapunk then injected the concentrated extract from the blood clot into a white mouse. Within seconds, the mouse’s fur instantly turned from pure white to blood red, and its body swelled to more than double its original size.
The little mouse, previously docile in its glass enclosure, beca extraordinarily violent after the injection, repeatedly slamming itself against the glass.
When Vegapunk placed it with other white mice, it unequivocally went on a killing spree. The infected, mutated white mouse killed all the other mice in the sa box, but within seconds, it too died.
The reason required no further study; Vegapunk could see it at a glance: it couldn’t withstand the power of those cells and died from organ failure.
Over the next continuous month, Vegapunk discovered that the more this substance was used, the less power it contained.
For example, if the first injection of cells into a white mouse could evolve its combat power to LV5, then the second and third injections would only result in LV4, LV3, or even LV2 and LV1. The more it was used, the less potency the contained power held.
Vegapunk had initially been passively undertaking this experint, but now he had developed a keen interest. He wanted to try—no, he really wanted to try researching this substance. The personality of a mad scientist was clearly erging.
Vegapunk imdiately reported his findings to his superiors.
The World Governnt had not yet granted full trust to this genius scientist, who had only recently joined them, but they still reviewed the experintal report Vegapunk submitted.
It can grant overwhelming destructive power, at the cost of losing one’s sanity and turning into a blood-craving monster?
The higher-ups in the World Governnt began to understand why the King of the Harald Kingdom wanted to use this substance to mass-produce an invincible army.
However, according to Vegapunk’s current report, white mice couldn’t withstand such power. Vegapunk intended to change the experintal subjects: wild beasts, Sea Kings, and even... humans!
Using humans for laboratory experints was absolutely against human civilization, yet historically, many scientists had done just that. In fact, it was precisely because they did so that technology progressed.
Vegapunk received the entire corpse of Cahill. Upon seeing this complete monster’s corpse, even Vegapunk couldn’t help but show surprise.
This is a monster mutated from a human, right? So injecting it into a human turns them into a monster like this.
Soon, with Cahill’s body in hand, Vegapunk once again imrsed himself in relentless research. An invincible army... he had once entertained such an idea himself.
Fleet Admiral Kong, after receiving Vice Admiral Borsalino’s mission report from Miares, truly took the na "Alucard" to heart this ti.
He had continuously defeated powerful pirates; even the Corrupt King, with a bounty over 200 million, had fallen to him? Although he wasn’t a pirate, he wasn’t easy to deal with either.
According to Borsalino’s submitted report, the pirate hunter Alucard ultimately stole one of the Evil Gang Pirates’ ships and sailed off. This ant that the ship now drifting on the sea, bearing the Evil Gang Pirates’ flag, was actually carrying Alucard?
This was another troubleso matter.
If the Marines spotted a pirate ship, they would instinctively attack. However, that Alucard would certainly fight back. At that point, even if he was a pirate hunter, he would still have to issue a bounty for him, wouldn’t he?
’What a reckless guy, didn’t he consider this situation?’ Kong muttered to himself.
However, he didn’t know that Alucard had never acknowledged his identity as a pirate hunter to begin with. It didn’t matter if he was seen as a pirate hunter or if he had a bounty on his head. If they wanted to fight, then they would fight.
Finally, Kong adopted a firm stance on the matter. He didn’t care. The honor of the Marines was non-negotiable, regardless of whether the opponent was a pirate or a pirate hunter. He had no intention of issuing an order like "Do not attack ships bearing the Evil Gang Pirates’ flag."
Issuing such an order would undoubtedly severely diminish the Marines’ prestige.
Roger, Whitebeard, Golden Lion Shiki, these enemies were already powerful enough. Would it really matter to them to add one more Alucard to the mix?
However, Kong didn’t know that he had made a terribly wrong decision. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it was the most grievous decision of his life.
