"Actually, my father called and wanted to et you, but I didn't agree back then.
However, he called again today and told he's arrived in Rainland and is just waiting for you to find ti to et him."
When Peter heard that, he didn't respond imdiately. Instead, he turned to Robin, who was still in charge of the main intelligence work.
As their eyes t, it seed like Robin suddenly rembered. She tilted her head gently, tapped her cheek with her finger, and said in a distracted tone:
"Ah, right... I think my n inford that the king left the capital and headed toward the Rainland...
But I had so many things to handle that I just forgot... You won't bla , will you?"
Then she fluttered her large, tearful eyes and began to act cute.
[Is Robin on her period?]
But Peter didn't let it slide so easily. His expression darkened, and his tone was cold:
"What's the real reason?"
Robin answered honestly, without hesitation:
"I just wanted to see how you'd get along with your future father-in-law... whether you'd argue or not."
"...That's it?" Peter couldn't help but laugh at the absurd excuse. Then he gritted his teeth and declared her punishnt:
"Starting tonight, you'll co to my room—alone—for three nights in a row."
Robin's smile froze on her face the mont she heard that.
"Rember, don't do it again. Otherwise, the next punishnt will be a hundred tis worse."
"I'm sorry... I won't do it again."
Robin sincerely apologized, admitting her mistake and hoping Peter would let her off.
But Peter didn't change his mind, and Robin had no choice but to accept the punishnt, all while enduring the smug looks of the other girls.
Fortunately, Robin still knew her duties well. King Cobra had been under Baroque Works' surveillance ever since he left the royal capital.
After a mont, Robin reported King Cobra's route and the number of guards accompanying him to Peter.
Vivi, who was listening from nearby, visibly paled.
Those who were monitoring the king hadn't been deployed by Peter, but had been placed long ago during Crocodile's era.
Vivi couldn't imagine what would have happened to her country—or her father—if Peter hadn't appeared when he did.
"What would've beco of my father and my holand?"
By comparison, all she had to do was offer her body in exchange for the country's stability.
At that mont, Vivi felt a strange sense of relief... and gratitude toward Peter.
"That's enough... he's been so kind to ..."
With that thought growing in her heart, Vivi's attitude toward Peter quietly began to change.
Peter wasn't surprised that Cobra wanted to et him.
After all, his only daughter was currently being held in Rainland—it would've been strange if he hadn't co in person to see her.
Given that the man was at least "half a father-in-law," and that Vivi had recently beco obedient and compliant...
Peter decided to show so respect and welcod the King Cobra into the reception room.
To show sincerity, Cobra arrived alone, without a single guard.
As soon as he learned that Peter had agreed to et him, he imdiately followed the attendants to the reception room.
And the mont he entered, his eyes landed on Vivi, who rushed toward him.
The father and daughter hadn't seen each other in two years, ever since Vivi had gone undercover at Baroque works.
All the worries from those years vanished the mont he laid eyes on her.
He had thought she would be suffering, but when he saw her rosy cheeks and clean, elegant attire, he finally felt so peace.
"Father..."
Vivi looked at Cobra anxiously. His face was pale, clearly exhausted from days without proper sleep.
She choked up and whispered softly:
"I'm glad you're okay."
Cobra cupped her cheeks with his hands, forcing a smile despite the heavy worry in his heart.
Seeing the emotional reunion between father and daughter, Peter couldn't help but feel like the villain preventing a heartfelt family mont. He frowned, stood up, and cleared his throat softly to remind them he was still present.
The subtle cough brought Cobra back to his purpose. He quickly turned toward Peter, the only other man in the room, with black hair and a calm deanor.
Peter spoke just in ti:
"It's a pleasure to et you, King Cobra.
I apologize for not greeting you earlier—there were so unexpected circumstances."
Though he said it was impolite, there was not a hint of awkwardness on Peter's face. He didn't even show any royal courtesy, rely nodding at Cobra.
For a powerful man like Peter, who wielded "truth," Cobra hadn't expected any form of deference.
Cobra took a deep breath, gently released Vivi, and took the initiative to step forward.
Then, to Peter's astonishnt, he dropped to his knees.
He struck his forehead against the floor and said, in a voice filled with humility:
"Mr. Peter... I know words are aningless in a world ruled by power.
I have only one request...
No matter what happens, please take good care of Vivi.
I'll give anything in return—except this country itself."
"Father!" Vivi cried out and rushed forward to help him up.
But Cobra stubbornly refused to rise.
Peter hadn't expected this.
He thought Cobra might negotiate—or even send troops in anger.
He had even been prepared to teach the kingdom a lesson.
But he never expected that Cobra would kneel like this... that he'd humble himself as a king and plead for his daughter's well-being.
How could Peter refuse such a simple request from a wise and understanding father-in-law?
A faint smile appeared on Peter's face, and he reached out to help Cobra up.
"Don't be like that. Vivi is my wife, of course, I'll take good care of her.
No need for formalities—we're family now. Let's treat each other as such.
As for the dowry? I don't need it. Except for the historical texts, there's nothing in this country that truly interests ."
Cobra should have felt relieved by Peter's personal guarantee.
But when he heard ntion of "historical texts," his heart tensed again.
Before he could ask anything, Peter called toward the corner:
"Robin, co in."
As soon as he spoke, the ear that had suddenly grown out of the wall turned into flower petals and disappeared.
A second later, the living room door opened, and Robin walked in slowly and stood directly beside Peter.
Peter lifted his chin and gestured toward her:
"As promised, ask whatever you wish."
