Land of Fire, Konoha Village.
A massive Nine Tails fox was rampaging through the village, destroying everything in its path.
One after another, ninjas threw themselves forward, trying to stop the demon fox from tearing apart their hos.
Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, had just settled his newborn son and his weakened wife Kushina before rushing back into the village to deal with the disaster.
But after using Flying Thunder God to transfer the Nine Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb, he was attacked again by the mysterious masked man. Left with no choice, Minato had to temporarily set aside the Nine Tails and deal with the masked intruder first.
What followed was a thrilling clash of space ti ninjutsu.
While the Nine Tails continued its rampage, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, finally arrived with ANBU and jonin reinforcents to confront it. But even then, they clearly lacked the power to suppress the violent beast.
At that mont, almost every major figure who had once shaken the Five Great Nations seed absent.
Only countless ordinary village ninjas rushed in first, and they were quickly slaughtered beneath the Nine Tails' claws.
Root ninjas were nowhere to be seen.
Danzo was nowhere to be seen.
Homura and Utatane Koharu were nowhere to be seen.
Even the Uchiha clan, the village's strongest family and official police force, a clan that possessed the Sharingan, did not send a single ninja to the battlefield. It seed they had been forcibly assigned by the higher ups to evacuation duty instead.
Of the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade and Jiraiya were already outside the village and did not participate in the battle.
Even Orochimaru, who was still in the village and should have been one of its strongest fighters, never appeared.
He seed to be with Danzo.
As the battle raged, one ninja after another died under the Nine Tails' claws.

Kurenai Yuhi's father, Yuhi Shinku.
Akimichi Tofu, bodyguard of the Second Hokage.
And many more.
Elsewhere, Minato Namikaze only needed two or three exchanges to identify the weakness of the masked man's space ti ninjutsu. With Flying Thunder God Level Two and a Rasengan, he severely wounded the intruder.
He also branded the masked man with a permanent Flying Thunder God mark and used a contract seal to forcibly break the man's control over the Nine Tails.
But even then, Minato failed to stop him completely. The injured masked man managed to escape by phasing away.
Seeing the Nine Tails still destroying the village, Minato had no choice but to abandon the chase and deal with the beast first.
In an instant, he returned to the Nine Tails battlefield with Flying Thunder God, then used the technique again to transfer the now uncontrolled but still berserk Nine Tails outside Konoha.
Watching the raging demon fox, Minato recalled his brief conversation with the masked man.
His first thought was clear.
He absolutely could not allow that man's plan to succeed.
The next mont, Minato actually brought his dying wife Kushina and their newborn son to the battlefield.
At Naruto's birth, Minato had sensed the powerful vitality of Uzumaki blood in his son. That made Naruto the ideal candidate to beco the new jinchuriki.
By now, Minato had very little chakra left. He had used Flying Thunder God too many tis in succession.
When Kushina saw her husband, already drained, preparing to seal the Nine Tails into their son, she desperately tried to use her last bit of chakra to seal the fox back into herself and die with it.
She did not want Naruto to beco the Nine Tails jinchuriki.
She knew too well the sorrow and pain that ca with being one.
But Minato rejected her idea.
Konoha could not lose the Nine Tails.
Without it, Konoha would lose its deterrence against the other villages, and war would follow. More villagers would die.
If Kushina died with the Nine Tails, Konoha would beco the only one of the Five Great Ninja Villages without a tailed beast.
And once the Nine Tails resurrected, it might be captured by another village, or worse, by the masked man, letting him continue so unknown and terrifying plan.
So Minato chose to leave the Nine Tails in Konoha.
He would seal it into Naruto, so that one day his son could beco the hero who protected the village.
After only a brief argunt with Kushina, Minato had already made his decision.
He imdiately used the Eight Trigrams Seal to seal the Nine Tails' Yang chakra and Kushina's chakra into Naruto.
Then he used the forbidden technique, Shiki Fuujin, to seal his own soul and the Nine Tails' Yin chakra into the belly of the Death God.
The sealing ceremony was prepared quickly.
A huge Death God appeared behind him.
But neither Minato nor Kushina noticed that the eyes of this Death God had changed.
They no longer looked chanical.
They looked… alive.
Seeing the Namikaze couple calmly discussing how to deal with him in front of his face, Kurama flew into a rage. Taking advantage of Kushina's weakness and montary lapse, he lashed out with a claw toward Naruto.
Minato and Kushina, who had just completed the sealing preparations, forced themselves in front of their son and were both pierced by the Nine Tails' claws.
The sealing began.
The Nine Tails' chakra was divided into two parts.
One half, carrying the Yang chakra and Kushina's chakra, entered the seal in Naruto's stomach.
Minato, anwhile, rapidly explained his final arrangents and his hopes for Naruto, while his own soul was dragged by the Death God and swallowed together with the Nine Tails' Yin chakra.
He died in front of Kushina.
Outside the barrier, the Third Hokage could not break through the powerful seal Minato had erected to trap the Nine Tails.
He could only stand there and watch Minato and Kushina die.
Then sothing strange happened.
The Death God, which should have vanished the mont Shiki Fuujin was completed, remained.
After receiving the sacrifices of Minato's soul and the Nine Tails' Yin chakra, the Death God, Jin, began to move.
He raised both hands to the sky.
And his face twisted in pain.
"Underworld Transformation!!"
Far away in Northern Underworld, Brook slowly vanished from the spot.
At the sa mont, a smaller Death God Fengjin appeared within the Underworld ruins where Brook had just been.
anwhile, in Konoha, the five or six ter tall Death God began to change shape.
Its appearance slowly transford into Brook.
Because both powers originated from Jin and Underworld Hell, they could now be rged into one.
Once the transformation ended, Brook could also feel the Nine Tails' Yin chakra inside his body. It had clearly been drained during the process and was much weaker now.
This horrifying scene made the Third Hokage outside the barrier freeze in shock, cold sweat running down his back.
Kushina, who still had one last thread of life left, looked at the transford Death God in terror and felt an overwhelming pressure of death pouring from him.
She desperately tried to protect Naruto and send him toward the Third Hokage, but she no longer had the strength.
"Yohoho! I'm finally out!!"
Brook laughed loudly.
His soul form was already so solid that it almost looked like a real body.
He had waited for months in Northern Underworld, and at last he had gotten the chance to return to the world of the living.
He felt the power of his own soul.
But if he wanted to use the chakra system of this world properly, he needed either a real body, or a way to exist as chakra itself.
And luckily, the Nine Tails' Yin chakra was sitting right inside his stomach.

It was a very good vessel.
The body had only just died, so it was still warm.
Now that the cycle of reincarnation in this northern galaxy had been broken, the souls of the Naruto world were all flowing into the [Pure Land] created by Otsutsuki Hagoromo.
Brook could already feel that he possessed part of the authority of Jin, the god of the Western Underworld. If so, then taking charge of the reincarnation of this Naruto world should be perfectly reasonable.

That only proved how absurd the Otsutsuki clan's gene fusion ability really was. They had likely absorbed a large portion of Hirasaka's authority.
"Minato Namikaze's soul should have plenty of useful things in it. His body also has spatial affinity. Most importantly, he's the Fourth Hokage, which makes him the perfect host."
Brook smiled.
If he could replace Minato Namikaze, then this would be an absurdly strong start in the Naruto world.
But Kushina and the Third Hokage had both witnessed Minato's death.
That made things inconvenient.
Still.
Wasn't the answer simple enough?
Just kill them and silence everyone.
Kushina would not survive much longer anyway, so all he really needed to do was kill the Third Hokage and the two ANBU guards.
Brook's killing intent instantly surged.
His overwhelming soul pressure pierced through the barrier Minato and Kushina had established.

This remnant chakra body had arrived with terrifying speed.
Was it because Naruto, the reincarnation of Ashura's chakra, was here?
Or was it because Brook, an alien death god, had appeared?
"Who are you?" Hagoromo asked solemnly. "Are you also a god of death?"
The residual chakra body of Otsutsuki Hagoromo stared at this transford Death God with extre caution.
And with good reason.
This was no longer the mindless, chanical Death God of the past.
This one had intelligence.
Long ago, Hagoromo had encountered the Death God Jin and even studied that mysterious unknown being. Using the principle of souls being devoured into the Death God's belly, he had created this world's [Pure Land].
The purpose was simple.
He did not want souls to be completely erased.
Faced with the sudden arrival of the Sage of Six Paths, Sarutobi Hiruzen, who had just escaped death, and the dying Kushina both changed expressions violently.
Brook, anwhile, was estimating Hagoromo's strength.
This man had also awakened the Rinnegan and inherited part of the Underworld God's power.
More importantly, he had mastered powerful sealing techniques.
That made Brook hesitate.
If the Sage of Six Paths really had so hidden move capable of sealing his soul, then things could go badly for him very fast.
At that mont, Kushina finally reached her limit.
With regret and unwillingness in her eyes, she died in front of them all.
Her soul floated toward the [Pure Land].
This world had its own unique chakra reincarnation system. Chakra could preserve mory, could even be sealed into others.
But the real soul still drifted toward the [Pure Land].
With a casual wave of his hand, Brook seized Kushina's soul and pulled it to himself.
The Sage of Six Paths, who could directly perceive the condition of souls, frowned instantly.
"That's right," Brook said coldly. "I am indeed the new Death God who can control souls. And I will gradually take over the reincarnation of this world."
"Do you know why this world no longer has true reincarnation?"
Brook did not wait for an answer.
"It is because the ancestors of your Otsutsuki clan destroyed reincarnation, killed the god who governed it, seized its power, absorbed part of that reincarnation authority into their bloodline, and then passed it down to you descendants."
His tone grew even harsher.
"I hope you will hand over the [Pure Land] you built through the Rinnegan, and the Rinnegan itself, and help rebuild reincarnation. Don't be as greedy and tyrannical as your ancestors."
"If you refuse, then I'll rebuild it in my own way. But I hope you won't interfere."
Brook lied so smoothly that even he almost believed himself.
The truth was much simpler. If he were not still wary of Hagoromo's Six Paths sealing thods, he would have acted long ago.
"What?"
Hagoromo was clearly shaken.
He already knew his mother, Otsutsuki Kaguya, was an alien.
But he had never imagined that the ancestors of the Otsutsuki had actually killed true gods.
"How else do you think you got your Rinnegan?" Brook sneered, openly hostile toward the Otsutsuki bloodline.
"Then why did you kill them?" Hagoromo asked quickly.
He cald himself down just as fast, refusing to believe Brook's words completely.
The ancient sins of the Otsutsuki did not matter much to him.
What mattered was protecting the ninja world.
Still, he was clearly interested in the clan's deeper secrets.
"I need to unify the human world as fast as possible," Brook said coldly, "and gather all humans carrying divine bloodlines so I can complete the reconstruction of reincarnation."
"Most of those bloodlines descend from your Otsutsuki clan. They carry fragnts of the divine authority your people stole."
"So you plan to kill those ninjas who inherited divine power?" Hagoromo's tone darkened. He had already seen Brook's real purpose, seize their power.
"For the sake of this world's reincarnation, those humans with divine bloodlines will rely change form and continue existing as souls," Brook said without blinking. "Then I can allow them to live in the new Hell."
He paused, then added another blow.
"And more than ten years from now, the brutal clan mbers behind the Otsutsuki will arrive with the second and third Ten Tails to eliminate your mother, Otsutsuki Kaguya, the traitor."
"When that happens, this planet will be drained dry by the Divine Tree and destroyed."
Brook spoke to the Sage of Six Paths in an icy voice while secretly using [Dead Demon Consuming Seal] authority to read the soul mories of Minato and Kushina.
At the sa ti, he fed both souls a bit of ghost energy and Underworld energy, hoping to stabilize them in soul form.
They would beco his first ghost generals.
While Hagoromo was still reeling from Brook's words, Brook discovered sothing else.
Sothing useful.
He reached underground with one hand and suddenly dragged out a White Zetsu.
Brook's eyes lit up.
Now he knew how to remain in this world.
