With Aether's departure, only a handful of notable pirates remained in Whitebeard's holand.
Emporio Ivankov had already left, and Crocodile departed the previous night. The forr Shichibukai had never intended to align himself with Aether, living up to the calculating nature Aether rembered.
As for Boa Hancock, she had left that morning, needing to return to Amazon Lily to handle pressing matters.
Their reunion had been brief, yet intense. The two nights they spent together were indulgent, and Hancock's passion had only grown stronger by the last night. Even soone like Aether, with his physique, felt the strain when he woke up the next morning. She had already gone, leaving behind only a lingering soreness that he found mildly surprising.
He dismissed the thought without dwelling on it.
At this point, the only prominent pirates left on the island were the brothers Portgas D. Ace and Monkey D. Luffy.
Luffy appeared to be preparing a ssage through the newspapers, intending to inform his scattered crew to train for two years before reuniting. The events of the Marineford War had made one thing clear to him, his current strength was not enough to survive in the New World.
anwhile, Ace was struggling with a far more personal matter. He was considering how to face his mother if she were brought back to life, unsure of what emotions he should hold toward soone who was both close to him and yet a stranger.
Far away, in the Mary Geoise, inside the Commander-in-Chief's office, the atmosphere was heavy.
Seated behind the desk was Kong, the Commander-in-Chief of the World Governnt. His presence alone weighed on the room, his expression stern as he faced the two veterans before him.
"Sengoku, since both you and Garp have chosen to step down, I will approve it. However, the retirent of two pillars of the Marines at a ti like this will shake the seas."
His tone remained firm.
"You will retain your ranks and move to the second line. Like Zephyr, you will guide the next generation. The future of Justice now rests on them."
Of the two, Monkey D. Garp remained as carefree as ever, casually eating donuts.
"Relax, Kong. The current Admirals can handle things. And with Momousagi and Kake around, the Marines aren't short on talent. I'll also keep an eye on Roger, and if needed, I'll step in myself."
Kong frowned slightly, then sighed. Changing Garp's mind had always been impossible.
He turned his attention to Sengoku.
"Among the prisoners who escaped from Level Six of Impel Down, several are legendary figures. During this transition period, you must be cautious. One mistake could lead to disaster."
Sengoku's expression darkened.
Among the escapees were monsters like Avalo Pizarro and San Juan Wolf, pirates whose strength rivaled or exceeded that of the Shichibukai.
But even they were not the greatest concern.
The true threats were individuals like Patrick Redfield and Douglas Bullet, beings who stood on the sa level as the Admirals.
"I will increase surveillance and locate them as soon as possible," Sengoku replied. "As for the next Fleet Admiral, I recomnd Kuzan."
"Kuzan is a reasonable choice," Kong said. "But the decision is not ours alone. The Gorosei must approve. What about Sakazuki?"
Sengoku felt a headache coming on.
"Sakazuki has been relentlessly hunting pirates these past few days without rest."
Kong exhaled slowly. "Let him be. He was once a strong candidate, but the situation has changed. After the Marineford War, Marine losses are severe. Your proposal for increased funding and a World Military Draft has been approved, but it will be carried out by the next Fleet Admiral."
"I understand," Sengoku said. "I just hope the decision is made quickly. The situation cannot be left unresolved."
He understood the reasoning. The World Governnt would not allow a forr Fleet Admiral to oversee such a massive restructuring. It was an opportunity to establish authority for the next leader while preventing any lingering influence.
Still, one concern lingered in his mind.
Would Sakazuki truly give up the position?
From what he had observed, Sakazuki had only grown more extre in recent days.
At that mont, a Marine officer rushed into the room.
"Report. Commander-in-Chief Kong, Fleet Admiral Sengoku, Vice Admiral Garp. Our undercover agent within the Whitebeard Pirates has sent urgent information. The New World is about to undergo a major shift."
The na Whitebeard imdiately drew their attention.
Sengoku opened the report, his expression growing grim as he read. Without a word, he handed it to Kong. Garp leaned in as well, curiosity replacing his earlier indifference.
Silence filled the room.
Finally, Kong spoke.
"He has absorbed the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates and ford a Grand Fleet. Even Byrnndi World has joined him. Silvers Rayleigh has regained his youth, and there are rumors of an ability that can revive the dead… Aether Pirates."
Sengoku let out a quiet breath.
"A new Emperor has erged, and possibly the strongest among them. In the end, the greatest beneficiaries of the Marineford War are Roger and Marshall D. Teach."
He felt the weight of it all.
Garp, however, focused on sothing else entirely.
"Restoring youth… bringing people back to life…"
He muttered under his breath, his tone unusually serious.
"Roger… is this what you've been hiding?"
Far away in the New World, on the outskirts of what was now Aether's territory, lay Kron Island, a land engulfed in flas year-round.
Near its shores, a massive figure lounged in the sea, half-subrged, as though relaxing in a bath.
"Ow… sothing bit ."
The giant was none other than San Juan Wolf.
On the shore, the rest of the Blackbeard Pirates complained among themselves. Their ship had been destroyed by a natural disaster, leaving them stranded.
Laughing loudly, Marshall D. Teach drank from a bottle, then turned toward the woman locked in an iron cage.
"Every one of them is useless, wouldn't you agree…"
His grin widened.
"…Jewelry Bonney?"
