The guards who'd been screaming for revenge monts ago—after getting their asses handed to them—suddenly found clarity and obediently lowered their arms.
Dalton reverted to human form.
He raised both hands to show he ant no harm, then stepped forward: "I am Dalton, Captain of the Drum Kingdom's Royal Guard."
Jin pointed to Dalton. "Dalton!"

Jin pointed to himself: "Jin!"
Dalton's eyes widened. "Jin?"
In the common tongue, 'Jin' sounded remarkably like 'King'. Combined with the howling wind and snow, Dalton had misheard.
Could he be the old king's illegitimate son? No, that's impossible! The language barrier was real...
