A Vivre Card was a special item, found only in the New World. It was impervious to both water and fire, made by mixing one's own fingernails into the material. It was a piece of paper that represented its owner's life force.
Typically, people would give a torn piece of it to a loved one or a friend before parting ways. The torn pieces would always point toward each other, allowing them to reunite in the more complex and ever-changing environnt of the New World.
Over ti, it had also co to be used as a kind of "Eternal Pose" for the New World.
All the Empress (Ship) had to do was follow the direction of the Vivre Card.

A section of the island had been converted into a training ground.
A group of talented children, eight years and older, selected from the various islands and villages of the kingdom, were undergoing special training.
Jin had poached seven or eight instructors from the Marines to handle the basic physical training.
As for their academic education, he and Ai were writing the textbooks themselves, with Robin and Perona in charge of teaching.
Perona hadn't been present during the battle with the Whitebeard Pirates because she'd been looking after the children.
