"Cough! Cough! Madam Olvia, please continue speaking."
Toki turned her head a little guilty. Before, she had followed along with Kozuki Oden's way of thinking, completely imrsed in romance, and hadn't really used her brain at all.
At that ti, she didn't even feel that Kozuki Oden had any problems.
Now that she'd stepped back and looked at it from the perspective of an outsider, the problems were way too big.
Kozuki Oden in Wano Country, he had bloodline, he had influence, he had prestige.
And yet, under those circumstances, Kozuki Oden still managed to throw Wano away.
On top of that, because Kozuki Oden had his heart set on opening up the country, when he was out at sea, he didn't stop boasting about how great Wano was.
Things like: Wano has huge amounts of treasure, huge amounts of famous swords and weapons, huge amounts of seastone ore, huge numbers of beauties.
He even bragged about cows. No doubt the pirates who wanted to co were beyond counting.
The natural barriers of Wano could block out most, but there were still plenty of powerful pirates who ca to visit.
And that part wasn't handled by Wano itself either. Kozuki Oden never even ca back, so how would he care about these things?
Instead, those people were dealt with by Kurozumi Orochi and Kaido joining forces.
It was precisely because of these matters that Kurozumi Orochi's na spread far and wide in Wano. Adding to that, Kozuki Oden ran off to sea with his life or death unknown, so when Kozuki Sukiyaki yielded the position to Kurozumi Orochi, it caused hardly any waves.
What's more, that yielding at the ti wasn't even Kozuki Sukiyaki's voluntary decision, but rather a staged performance using the Clone-Clone Fruit.
The Kozuki family, just because of Kozuki Oden's series of carelessness, directly handed Wano Country over to another.
Sotis Toki wondered, if there had been no Kozuki Oden, would Wano Country have been better off?
"In Wano's history, there was another ti of frequent interaction with the outside world, and that was during the Golden Country era."
Olvia didn't continue discussing further. She was only a recorder of history, with no intention to participate or make judgnts.
No matter who made what choice, it had nothing to do with her.
Her notions of good and evil had long since scattered into nothing back when Ohara was destroyed.
"During the Golden Country era, the radical faction led by Shimotsuki Ryuma wanted to interact with the outside world. At that ti, the Kozuki family was weak and powerless to stop Shimotsuki Ryuma, which led to a large number of people leaving Wano."
"That I roughly know. It was also from that period that the Shimotsuki family gained control of a passage leading to the outside. Every year many people traveled out, and my family also left Wano through that way," Gion added with a smile.
Toki couldn't help but glance at Gion. Only now did she realize that Gion actually had this kind of origin with Wano.
But clearly, Wano wasn't in Gion's heart. No matter how much they pressed, she would never stand on their side.
"That's right. That ti was similar to now, but Shimotsuki Ryuma was much purer than Kozuki Oden. His going out to sea wasn't to open Wano, but simply because he wanted to hone his swordsmanship," Olvia nodded lightly.
"It's said that the rumors of Wano being the Golden Country actually ca from Shimotsuki Ryuma's actions outside. In every country he went to, Shimotsuki Ryuma would set up an arena, loudly declaring that anyone who could defeat him could take away 500 kilograms of gold."
"All the way, he was practically invincible, but this still gave others the impression that Wano was a Golden Country."
"As a result, Wano drew the covetousness of certain world nobles. That battle which happened in Wano also beca the Shimotsuki family's battle of ascension."
"How many experts did the World Governnt send, really?"
Toki's eyes shone with anticipation. This was Wano's most glorious past.
But she still wanted to know,m. Compared with the World Governnt of that era, just how much weaker was Wano, or how much had they managed to withstand?
"The World Governnt?", Olvia only shook her head slightly, "The World Governnt didn't directly send anyone. Those who took part in that incident were legendary pirates of the New World at the ti, hired by the world nobles to co."
"Huh? Pirates?", Toki was stunned.
She just couldn't connect the World Governnt with pirates.
"There's nothing strange about that," Olvia explained, "In fact, before the Rocks Pirates, most of the legendary great pirates of the New World had ties with the World Governnt."
"Put simply, the reason they could beco the biggest pirates was actually because of the World Governnt's support."
"So you're saying, back then, people like 'Whitebeard' and 'Roger' were all subordinates of the World Governnt?", Toki clicked her tongue in disbelief.
She had already thought very highly of the World Governnt.
But she hadn't expected that this was still when the World Governnt was at its weakest.
"Indeed. In every era of the New World, there were three to five pirates at the top. At most, only one of them had no ties to the World Governnt."
Olvia nodded lightly, then, seeing Toki's shock, added, "But after the Rocks Pirates rose up, the structure of the New World also changed. The Rocks Pirates unified all the great pirates of the New World and declared war on the world, participating in one of the Celestial Hunts."
"That part I actually know. Whitebeard and Kaido were mbers of the Rocks Pirates," Toki nodded gently.
She had been on Whitebeard's ship before. Though she hadn't been especially close with those people, she had still learned a bit about past events.
"Yes. After Rocks collapsed, the World Governnt strengthened its crusade against New World pirates, though the effect wasn't very good. Roger still ascended as Pirate King, and through his public execution upon surrender, he opened the Great Pirate Era."
At this point, Olvia subconsciously glanced at Rosse.
The Great Pirate Era had only been open for three years, and yet it was already approaching its end.
Now, many people no longer cared about Roger's treasure. Everyone was going crazy snatching up Devil Fruits.
Those were gods, after all.
Anyone who ate a Devil Fruit qualified to be called a god.
And those pirates who had left the Holy Land all started naming themselves gods.
To be able to research history, Olvia's intellect was naturally not low.
Even though Rosse hadn't told her about leaving behind the Poneglyphs, just from the actions of these people, she could also deduce that Rosse was the one manipulating things behind the scenes.
She didn't know what Rosse wanted to achieve, but whatever it was, she had no intention of stopping him.
To tell history to the entire world, that had always been her dream.
For that, she was willing to do anything.
Now that Rosse was already doing this, what reason would she have to refuse?
As for information about Devil Fruits and gods, she had also seen the docunts given by the World Governnt. And earlier, in so of the other Poneglyphs, there had been faint hints of this as well.
It was just that those records were more obscure, not as complete as the World Governnt's.
That was only natural. After all, the World Governnt had lasted 800 years, and those Celestial Dragon families had inherited for over a thousand. Of course they knew more than the outside world.
No matter what Rosse wanted to do, as long as he was spreading the true history, she was willing to help with all her strength.
Even if it ant doing things that would wipe out clans now, Olvia was still willing to help and accept it.
