"Is there any other captain who wants to go to the living world?", Head Captain Yamamoto asked again, letting his gaze fall on Kyoraku Shunsui.
Going by the actual functions of the squads, Sui Feng and Kuchiki Byakuya were more suitable.
But those two were too inexperienced. If Rosse ran into trouble, Yamamoto did not want to lose a captain in there.
The captain who went needed at least decent strength and couldn't be an idiot.
Kyoraku Shunsui turned his head away on the spot, pretending he didn't see the old man's gaze.
He already put up with the old man giving him work all the ti, but he definitely didn't want to go to the living world.
Life in the Soul Society was perfectly comfortable. Why would he want to go suffer in the living world?
It wasn't like he could go there and stroll around freely. A job like this where he grabbed a person and ca straight back was sothing he didn't want at all.
"Let go, I really want to go!", Zaraki Kenpachi suddenly said, his eyes on Rosse filled with excitent.
Once he reached the living world, he wouldn't have to follow the rules of the Gotei 13. He could fight however he wanted.
"Anyone else?", Head Captain Yamamoto did not look at Zaraki at all. From the very beginning he never considered him an option.
If he dared send Zaraki to the living world, that man would probably tear the place apart.
And pairing him together with Rosse would only cause countless incidents.
"If no other captain is willing, then I will accompany Captain Rosse," Aizen smiled slightly and stepped forward on his own.
But judging by the reluctant look on his face, it was as if he only stepped forward because the other captains refused, trying to help the Head Captain so Yamamoto and the others wouldn't be put in a difficult spot.
'Captain Aizen, truly the nice guy of the Soul Society.'
At that mont, four captains silently thought the sa thing.
"Then Captain Aizen and Captain Rosse will go together. Bring your lieutenants with you," Head Captain Yamamoto didn't hesitate and agreed imdiately.
Aizen had still been a captain for over a hundred years. In Yamamoto's mind Aizen definitely wasn't on Kyoraku's level, but he was stronger than soone like Byakuya.
And though he was a nice guy, soone who had been a captain for so long definitely wouldn't lack caution, which also put Yamamoto at ease.
Overall, Aizen really was the second-best choice after Kyoraku.
'That traitor…'
After issuing the official order, the captains' eting was basically over.
The remaining captains stayed behind to handle the aftermath of the Tsuneyashiro clan's slaughter.
———
Rosse and Aizen, anwhile, took their two lieutenants and departed for the living world.
"Captain! Captain Rosse!"
When Rosse and Aizen arrived at the Senkaimon gate in Seireitei, a young woman with hair in a bun ca running over.
Even though it was their first ti eting, Rosse could imdiately tell that the way she looked at Aizen was practically lting into strings.
With how brainwashed she seed, making her an rbq would probably only take a word. [T/N: rbq an 'at t*ilet'.]
In that area, Rosse did respect Aizen a bit.
He usually tied people to him through mutual interests, strengthening bonds through cooperation and mutual gain. But Aizen relied on a decade of unchanging acting.
"Momo, thank you for preparing everything."
Aizen nodded with a smile, then introduced her to Rosse:
"Captain Rosse, this is my lieutenant Hinamori Momo. She is a very reliable shinigami."
"Captain, I'm not as reliable as you say."
Hinamori blushed just from being slightly praised.
But she didn't notice that the mont Rosse heard Aizen's words, he imdiately understood what Aizen really ant.
'Reliable shinigami? More like a piece on the board to be used.'
What Aizen actually ant was that if necessary, Hinamori could be sacrificed.
'Tsk! Captain Aizen really is ruthless, raising such a well-trained girl only to toss her aside so easily.'
Rosse thought this with amusent, but on the surface he only gave a light nod.
"Lieutenant Hinamori? Understood. I'll be relying on you and Captain Aizen for this operation. Rangiku, when can we depart?", He shifted his gaze to Matsumoto Rangiku.
Back when he and Aizen stepped forward, Rangiku and Hinamori had already co to the gate to prepare so they could head to the living world as soon as possible.
As for Hinamori, he had zero interest.
A woman completely ruined from head to toe by Aizen was not soone he wanted to take over.
"Captain, we can leave now. As soon as we pass through the Dangai we will reach the living world," After Rangiku spoke, the gate lit up.
"Then let's go," Rosse nodded and stepped through first.
Seeing this, Rangiku gave an apologetic look to Hinamori and Aizen before quickly following.
She had nothing to do with Aizen, but she and Momo usually got along well.
Rosse wasn't normally like this. The reason he treated Hinamori so coldly today was probably because of Aizen.
He had told her before that Aizen wasn't simple.
Judging from this, Momo was likely caught up in the fallout.
If she got the chance, she would try to speak up for Momo.
With how naïve Momo was, she was clearly being fooled by Aizen without even noticing. She definitely had no idea Aizen was hiding things.
The Dangai was the space between the Soul Society and the living world. This space was extrely unstable, like an animal's esophagus, capable of twisting and shifting at any mont.
But because this passage always existed, with shinigami maintaining it and cleaners called Kototsu passing every seven days to clear it, it stayed relatively stable.
Inside the Dangai, they did not encounter the Kototsu. Everything went unusually smoothly.
The Soul Society had already calculated the Kototsu's timing, otherwise they wouldn't have sent them now.
After only a short while, the group appeared on a quiet street.
Unlike the ancient style of the Soul Society, the living world was filled with modern buildings, making Rosse feel montarily dazed.
His own world also had so modernity, but its productivity was still pre-industrial. There were basically no reinforced concrete buildings.
But Karakura Town before his eyes was completely modern, no different from the world of his previous life, making him feel unexpectedly nostalgic.
"Captain, this is your first ti in the living world, right? The alcohol here tastes much better than in the Soul Society. Since it's nightti, I can take you to try so," Rangiku laughed beside him, not thinking his mont of daze was anything strange.
Last ti Captain Shiba went missing, she had co to the living world and seeing all those tall buildings, she hadn't been any better than Rosse.
It was only after staying for a while that she got used to this place.
Compared to the old-fashioned traditional style of the Soul Society, the modern world was amazing.
It was a pity she was a lieutenant and couldn't co often. Otherwise she would have applied to be stationed here long ago.
Speaking of which, being able to co this ti was thanks to Rosse, so she would have to thank him properly later.
