Ti slipped by in the blink of an eye. Three days later, on the island's shore.

The horns signaling the end of the assessnt echoed for a long ti before the recruits finally assembled. They were bruised and battered, many leaning on others just to stay upright; they looked less like a crack unit and more like a disorganized army retreating from a defeat.

As the horn continued to blare, recruits straggled out of the forest.

"Hey, how many points did you get?"

"Not sure. I didn't even recognize half the animals I saw."

The gathered recruits chatted while casting furtive, nervous glances at Loya, who stood at the very front of the formation.

News of the site where Loya had fought the Silverback Great Ape had spread like wildfire the day after. So recruits had even abandoned their own goals just to go and observe the battlefield. The hundred-ter-long gouges in the earth left ugly scars on the forest floor. Everything nearby had been frozen solid—despite being on a sumr island, it felt as bone-chillingly cold as a winter zone. Countless insects and animals, unable to escape, remained in their final poses as ice sculptures. It was a scene of terrifying beauty: an "Ice Hell."

Ironically, that site beca the preferred campsite for the majority of the recruits. They returned there to rest and eat. Between the lingering pressure of Loya's "Shikai" dragon aura and the residual scent of the fallen Silverback Great Ape, no living thing dared to approach that clearing. Not even the chirping of a bug could be heard.

With no fear of beast attacks at night, was there any better place to sleep in that forest?

This was supposed to be a grueling survival test, yet the recruits had turned it into a group camping trip. Zephyr had been in a foul mood ever since he found out.

"It's too terrifying... are we really going to fight that guy?" Rembering Zephyr's "fairness" challenge, the recruits felt they'd been scamd. At the ti, everyone had been gleefully looking forward to teaching Loya a lesson, but given the strength he'd shown, wouldn't they just be handing him a victory?

"I guess... it should be fine? I heard it's a one-on-one gauntlet. Even if he's strong, he can be worn down," soone suggested, though he didn't sound convinced.

"No, I heard it's a group battle. If it's one-on-one, we'd probably collapse from exhaustion before he even gets tired. He's a Zoan-type fruit user, after all."

The previous speaker fell silent. That was a terrifyingly realistic possibility. While Zoan-types were often mocked at sea as the "weakest" category, their stamina was peerless. Combined with Loya's performance—he held the record for the highest physical fitness in the camp—it was no idle boast.

Loya stood at the front, bored, thinking about his barbecue. Since the assembly horn had blown, he didn't dare skip the order to finish his al; he just hoped that kick he'd given the fire before leaving had successfully put it out so his dinner wouldn't burn.

Momonga and the other high-ranking officers stood before him, casting looks of surprise and begrudging respect. They had visited the battlefield too. The claw marks, the craters large enough to fit a man, the toppled trees, and the bloodstains on the ice—it all proved the intensity of the fight.

Even though Loya had caused such a stir that the assessnt had been interrupted for a day, they had to admit: Loya now possessed strength that could rival them. In terms of sheer destructive power, only the true heavyweights among the Headquarters Vice Admirals could match him.

If he can maintain that state at will, he is too terrifying, the Vice Admirals thought. They hadn't seen the final clash, but they had heard enough to know that Loya's explosive ultimate move significantly boosted his speed and power. Since Loya hadn't been hiding his training, those who frequented the training grounds—including elite camp mbers—had even watched him develop the technique step by step.

With a Mythical Zoan Dragon fruit and that rate of growth, provided he didn't die young, he was guaranteed to surpass them in the future. At the very least, if he could just stabilize the strength he showed against the Silverback Great Ape, a Vice Admiral rank was already in the bag.

In the One Piece world, strength commanded respect. They would never look at him as a "newbie" again.

Half a day passed. The patrol squads brought out the last group of wounded recruits and sent them to the infirmary. A field officer ran up to Zephyr and saluted. "Reporting to the Head Instructor! Everyone has been accounted for!"

"Hmm." Zephyr nodded and took the report.

The first page was the casualty report. 75 recruits were severely injured, not counting the minor ones. Almost everyone had been hurt, but fortunately, no one had died. Zephyr glanced over it briefly before focusing on the second page: the point tallies. This was the true asure of the recruits' strength.

The results, however, made Zephyr sigh deeply. He waved his hand. "Once the final tallies are confird, announce them."

"Yes, sir!" The officer ran off.

Zephyr stood on the deck, his eyes locked on the slouching, lazy-looking Loya. His expression was unreadable. Has the new generation of Marines really beco this weak?

Half an hour later, the audit was complete.

Footsteps echoed, and the recruits imdiately stood tall and alert, ready for the important mont. The lead Major saluted the Vice Admirals and then turned to the recruits with a solemn face.

"At ease! Attention!"

"Next! We will announce your assessnt scores. Everyone, listen up! First four rows, kneel!"

Clatter.

The front four rows imdiately knelt in perfect unison. Satisfied, the Major had the officers behind him turn on the projector, casting the results onto a long banner.

Hummm!

The Den Den Mushi buzzed and began to project the images. The recruits held their breath, frantically scanning for their nas. Those who saw their scores bead, while others bit their lips in frustration.

Loya did the sa, though he was looking for the top spot. He found it at the very top of the list almost imdiately.

"Tony Miller, Score: 1795, Rank: First."

1795 points. For most recruits, that score was terrifyingly inhuman. To put it in perspective, the "Stone-Drum Ox" that Loya had encountered—the one whose hide was too tough for firearms to pierce—was only worth 50 points. A normal recruit wouldn't even have ti to run away if they ran into one of those, let alone turn it into points.

This Tony Miller had to have killed over thirty of them in three days to get that score.

Loya rembered him. He was the top recruit of the Third Team. Before joining the Navy, he had been the master of a small dojo on a remote island. He had joined the Navy for revenge after pirates destroyed his town. He was combative, refused to be second to anyone, and had seized the top spot on his first day. Since then, he had held it firmly, and no one had managed to shake him.

But even so, Loya felt exactly as Zephyr did: He really is too weak.

The top recruits of previous years had been genuine monsters. Tony was strong for a recruit, but compared to the legends of the past, there was a massive gap. Loya had once secretly asked Zephyr how many points Kuzan had scored during his assessnt. The answer had shocked him, leaving him to lant that Logia fruits were indeed, as they say, gifted with overwhelming advantages.
