BOOM!
Another explosion rang out. Loya whipped his head around; this blast ca from the direction of the beach. Even from this distance, he could sll the acrid scent of gunpowder smoke.
"Is soone finally here? Whoever it is, I have to get off this island!" Loya thought viciously, sick to death of his island life. He crouched and sprang upward with all his might.
Snap!
As he began to descend from the apex of his jump, Loya tapped his foot in mid-air against a platform of ice the size of his palm. His falling montum was instantly halted. He leapt again to another floating ice shard, repeating the process, effectively "walking" on ice to dash rapidly toward the beach.
Vic felt aggrieved and furious. He was just a common pirate with a 50-million-berry bounty who had just entered the Grand Line. He hadn't even encountered a rchant ship, so why in the world was he being hunted by a Vice Admiral of the Marine Headquarters? And for two days and two nights, no less! What did I ever do to you?
If it weren't for his custom-built ship, the Flying Fish, boasting power superior to a standard Marine vessel, he would have been shackled and sent to Impel Down two days ago.
But his luck had run out. The warship behind them seed bored with this cat-and-mouse ga; for a while now, the cannons at the bow had been firing continuously, not stopping even after destroying his masts.
Losing the sails was fatal for a wooden ship like the Flying Fish. Fuming with rage and desperation, Vic ordered his crew to land at the nearest shore for a final stand.
So what if it's a Headquarters Vice Admiral? I'm Vic "The Scissor-Hand"! I will not surrender!
The island was a bit strange—despite being a sumr island, there was a ten-ter-tall ice sculpture on the beach. But a cornered Vic had no ti to worry about that. Once ashore, he ordered his crew to use their cannons to return fire and prevent the Marines from closing in.
BOOM!
A cannonball struck, slamming directly into the side of the Flying Fish. The pirates below deck, frantically loading ammunition, were shredded—blood and severed limbs scattered across the deck.
They were just pirates, after all. Their marksmanship couldn't compare to the disciplined Marines. Moreover, to prioritize speed, the Flying Fish didn't carry many cannons, and their sporadic return fire posed no threat to the steadily advancing warship.
On the deck of the Marine ship, seeing the pirates' guns fall silent, the sailors raised their muskets and cutlasses, awaiting the charge command.
An officer hurried over to the man standing at the bow, saluted, and said, "Vice Admiral Momonga, the Scissors Pirates have lost their counter-battery capability. Shall we order the charge?"
Momonga, with his dark purple mohawk and violet-striped suit, looked at the pirates on the shore with a stern expression. He waved a large hand. "Artillery cover! Advance!"
"Sir!"
The warship cut its engine and began to slow. Simultaneously, several small boats were lowered, and the Marines rowed quickly toward the shore under the cover of the main ship's cannons.
"The Marines are here! Brothers, kill them!" Vic roared, raising his musket to fire.
Loya arrived at the beach outside the forest, only to be t with this chaotic scene. His first sight was the Flying Fish spewing thick, black smoke, and only then did he see the blue "MARINE" flag with the seagull emblem in the distance.
He couldn't help it; the spectacle of such a massive ship exploding was impossible to ignore.
Hiding behind a coconut tree, Loya's eyes narrowed. That's the Marine insignia from One Piece... Does that an I've arrived in the world of One Piece?
Loya stared at the scene on the beach, bewildered. He had brought a Fairy Tail system into the world of One Piece? That was a cruel joke! The power scaling systems were completely incompatible!
The situation on the beach was a standard Marine sweep of a pirate crew. Loya turned his gaze toward Vic, who was directing the battle. After a brief inspection, he concluded that Vic was likely a nobody.
The Marines in the One Piece world were not to be trifled with, but pirates were a different story. These disorganized thugs might be strong individually, but they were ultimately just a scattered bunch of sand.
Once he realized which world he was in, Loya had no desire to antagonize the Marines. Looking at the bombed-out pirate ship, he knew he would have to rely on the Marines if he wanted to leave this island.
Thus, he set his sights on the Scissors Pirates, who were screaming and firing their guns to block the Marine landing. He sneered.
"We have no grudge, but I need to borrow a Marine ship to get off this rock. That requires a token of allegiance... so, sorry about this."
After muttering to himself, Loya leapt. The soil beneath his feet cracked like a spiderweb from his sheer strength. The massive power boost from Dragon Body allowed him to appear high in the air in an instant.
Since he was behind the pirates, Vic—who lacked Observation Haki—didn't notice Loya. But just because he didn't notice him didn't an Momonga wouldn't.
Momonga narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing the figure in the air: "Who... is that?"
Loya stood on a platform of ice he had generated in mid-air. He puffed out his lungs, clenched his fists, and held them in front of his mouth. The magic power within him gathered.
Hum!
A blue magic circle, taller than a man, manifested in front of Loya, its center facing his open maw.
"Ice Dragon's... ROAR!"
In the next mont, a blizzard of ice erupted, instantly expanding from the thickness of a fist into a massive, multi-ter-wide torrent. Like a roaring dragon, it slamd viciously into the ranks of the Scissors Pirates.
BOOM!
Under Loya's control, the ice storm detonated at the optimal mont for maximum damage. A roar like spring thunder erupted. Before Vic could even react, he was swallowed by the explosion.
Countless tiny ice shards, propelled by the high-pressure gale of the blast, acted like surgical scalpels, rcilessly harvesting lives. The intense cold froze the pirates' wounds before they could even bleed, turning them into statues. In the center of the explosion, where the magic was most violent, there wasn't even a complete corpse left.
Dragon Slayer magic, even the Ice elent, was incredibly brutal. Otherwise, how would it be any different from Gray's Ice Make magic?
The explosion was followed by a terrifying cold front. The frost spread instantly, freezing everything in its path. Even the incoming ocean waves were frozen in place, solidifying into hard ice.
Even the Marines on the distant warship felt a bone-chilling cold. It was even worse for those already in the small boats.
"Ice-based ability..."
This scene exceeded Momonga's expectations. He had guessed Loya would attack the pirates, but he hadn't expected such an overwhelming massacre—and that he would be using an ice ability!
But this wasn't the ti to dwell on it. Seeing the range of the freezing ice about to engulf his vanguard troops, Momonga snorted coldly, drew his katana, and slashed horizontally.
Swish!
A massive, pale-blue sword beam capable of slicing through waves flew over the vanguard, tearing the spreading ice asunder. The intense blade pressure left a deep gouge in the sea; from afar, it looked as if a chunk of the ocean had been scooped out like gelatin.
The vanguard Marines, caught off guard, couldn't change the direction of their boats and tumbled into the sea. Being Marines, they were all excellent swimrs. Once the boats capsized, they quickly surfaced, though each of them was left floating, clutching their arms, lips blue, teeth chattering uncontrollably.
It was just... too cold!
Seeing this, Momonga slowly sheathed his katana and commanded his adjutant: "Send soone to retrieve the vanguard imdiately!"
"Yes, sir!"
The adjutant looked at Momonga with gratitude and hurried away to relay the orders. Vice Admiral Momonga was the type of officer who truly cherished his n.
Loya saw the pale-blue sword beam and suddenly looked annoyed. "Damn it, I didn't control my power on my first big hit. I nearly froze the Marines to death... But to swing a sword beam of that intensity... according to the manga, he must be at least a master swordsman, right? Probably..."
Recalling the heart-stopping slash, Loya felt a wave of resentnt toward Eiichiro Oda. The power scaling in One Piece had always been criticized. Characters beca exponentially stronger the later they appeared, a bit like the "stat explosion" in World of Warcraft, where a turtle respawning every three minutes at level 100 was more terrifying than a major raid boss from years prior.
This chaos made it impossible for Loya to determine the strength level of the Marines on the ship a few hundred ters away based on the manga alone.
Then again, that was a common flaw in Japanese manga. Think about Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach—which one didn't reach absurd levels of power creep by the end?
