Leon just stared silently for a few seconds. He genuinely had no idea what had happened.

But during the tiny instant before the items shattered... Leon had felt sothing.

A presence. Cold. Ancient. Watching him.

It only lasted for less than a second, but Leon knew he had not imagined it. The feeling had been far too real. Almost as though the items themselves had possessed so sort of will.

"...Whatever."

Leon eventually shook his head and moved on. There was no point obsessing over destroyed equipnt now.

Instead, he imdiately consud the essences.

Nom! Nom!

The mont he did, warmth surged throughout his body as massive amounts of energy spread through every muscle, bone, and vein inside him.

Ding!

[ 8,500 Strength, 6,700 Agility, 5,000 Constitution, 3,000 Spirit]

Leon exhaled slowly. The increase was indeed enormous, the biggest one he had ever had yet.

It was normal though, since the [Forsaken King] was so strong even one of his essence was enough to boost a player significantly.

At this point, his raw stats alone had probably reached terrifying levels compared to normal players.

And he was still growing stronger at an absurd speed.

Leon stored the [Forsaken Ghoul Claws] and the [King of Darkness] sub-talent scroll inside his [Storage Space], then focused on the remaining two items.

The skill book. And the SS-Level [Monarch of Darkness].

Naturally, Leon decided to learn the skill first. He grabbed the dark skill book and poured mana into it.

Imdiately, the book dissolved into particles of darkness that surged directly into his body.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have learned the Ascendant-Rank skill: "Shadow Bullets (Lv.1)"]

Leon instantly wanted to check the description of the skill.

But before he could even do that...

Ding!

[Your skill "Shadow Bullets (Ascendant Lv.1)" has evolved into "Shadow Bullets (Ascendant Lv.3)"]

"Oh."

Leon blinked in surprise. The reward increasing all his skills by two levels was apparently still active while he was here. Which honestly saved him a ridiculous amount of [Skill Stones].

And not only that... It imdiately made the skill much stronger.

Leon quickly opened the description.

[Shadow Bullets (Ascendant Lv.3): Focus on the power of darkness inside of you and summon shadow bullets around yourself before directing them toward an opponent. The bullets’ power depends on your darkness sub-talent.]

Leon imdiately understood why the skill had been so terrifying in the hands of the [Forsaken King].

The stronger the darkness-related sub-talent... The stronger the bullets beca.

And Leon possessed the exact sa SS-Level sub-talent as the king.

aning the potential of the skill inside Leon’s hands would be equally monstrous.

Without wasting ti, Leon focused on activating the ability.

Darkness slowly gathered before him. Then after around a second... A small shadow bullet appeared.

It floated calmly in the air. Around the size of a finger. Yet the amount of destructive aura coming from such a tiny projectile was ridiculous.

Leon could imdiately tell sothing. Any player or monster below one million combat power struck directly by this thing would almost certainly die instantly.

Still... Leon frowned slightly.

Because after summoning one bullet, he could feel how difficult it was to create more simultaneously.

He tried. Another one slowly appeared. Then a third. But the process beca increasingly difficult.

’Control issue,’ Leon thought calmly. ’The king summoned thousands at once because he mastered the skill.’

Leon was not too bothered though. The skill had only been learned monts ago. Naturally he would struggle controlling it initially.

Eventually, once he mastered it properly, this skill would probably beco one of his deadliest attacks.

Satisfied, Leon dispersed the bullets and shifted his attention toward the final item.

The SS-Level [Monarch of Darkness] sub-talent scroll. Leon stared at it quietly for nearly an entire minute.

His thoughts beca complicated.

He already possessed [Monarch of Darkness]. And while sub-talents could fuse together and evolve... The success rate for identical high-rank sub-talents was absurdly low.

Especially SS-Level ones. Leon estimated the success chance was probably around 0.01%. Essentially impossible.

Which made using it imdiately feel wasteful.

Leon continued thinking deeply about it, a small idea appearing in his mind until Violet’s voice suddenly interrupted him.

"Are you done, Leon?" she asked while standing near the gate. "We’re about to head inside."

"Oh." Leon snapped out of his thoughts and stored the scroll away, "I’ll think about it later."

The others were already gathered near the massive gate leading toward the [River of Souls].

The ancient structure still radiated imnse pressure while the river beyond continued flowing endlessly between darkness and light.

Even now, the place felt unreal. This was their final reward after all. There was no way sothing this mysterious would be ordinary.

And eventually, the group stepped forward one after another.

Godrick entered first. Then Alicar. Then Oasis. Then Violet.

And finally, Leon stepped through the gate as well.

Fwoosh!

The mont he crossed through the entrance, the world around him distorted instantly.

Space twisted violently. And when Leon opened his eyes again, he realized he was alone. The others were gone.

Apparently each participant had been sent into their own separate instance of this place.

Leon slowly looked around his surroundings. The entire world around him was covered in darkness and flowing blue light.

A massive river stretched endlessly before him, radiating an ancient aura that made even Leon feel small.

Several panels appeared before him.

Ding!

[You have entered the "River of Souls"]

[This place is reserved only for those worthy enough to access it, so co on, Celestial, show them what you can do.]

Leon narrowed his eyes slightly, "Hm."

Then another panel appeared, this one glowing with much more intensity than the others.

Ding!

[It is finally ti to break so of the shackles placed upon your soul, allowing you to grow strong enough to challenge even the gods.]

...

A/N

I know I haven’t revealed Leon’s [Combat Power] yet but it’s in purpose, don’t worry, it’s completely worth it, many of you will be surprised :)
