"Wait a minute, why are we suddenly talking about you dying? Weren't you and Artie supposed to be the sa person?"
Dorothy was sowhat overwheld by the imnse amount of information in the Lord Demon King's words, and she asked in a rather bewildered manner.
In response, Astimos simply spread his hands and shrugged.
"Growth, as they say, is essentially a process of constantly killing your past self, right? Of course, for witches, we generally call this wear and tear."
"But at my level, ordinary wear and tear can't shake unless I voluntarily change. There's only one throne in all realms, and if the New King wants to ascend, naturally the Forr King must abdicate, right?"
"This lucky little one will be able to do better than in the future; she can reach a realm beyond mine, so I am certainly happy to step down and make way for the worthy."
She explained.
Hmm, her path of world destruction was already destined to be a dead end. Even if the Divine King and Dragon King didn't stop her, she foresaw other obstacles at the end of that path waiting for her.
Previously, she had no other path to choose and could only pinch her nose and follow that line of thought to the bitter end. But since the Divine King's interference during the witch's night, a brand new path appeared before her.
So what's there to hesitate about? There's an ancient saying in the Eastern universe: A wise man adapts to circumstances.
Astimos considered herself quite smart and made this choice easily.
"I heard that the demons' path is like an emperor's rotating reign? If it's just abdication, couldn't you beco an incarnation or sothing? It doesn't have to an death, right?"
Dorothy asked, still trying to grasp the concept.
The consideration of "the only one in all realms" is sothing only those beyond the Sage Realm need to worry about. The hobody witch's current power was still far from that. She could understand Lord Demon King's words, all thanks to the knowledge she gained from Lady Witch of the Forest, but her past scattered knowledge clearly left her with only a partial understanding.
"Haha, my silly teacher, you are so naive. Do you think this is child's play? That Ascension to Godhood seat isn't sothing you can just sit on and get up from whenever you want. Even on the most insane path of the demons, when has the battle between demons ever been so sentintal?"
Hearing her naive teacher's words, the Lord Demon King was amused and laughed heartily, so much that tears of laughter ca out.
After laughing for a long ti, she continued to look at Dorothy, that angelically pure face now showing a cheerful smile.
"Hehe, what, teacher, are you reluctant for to die? You're really gentle. I'm not the Artie you knew; I should just be a stranger to you. Yet you still have pity for , a Great Demon King constantly thinking of destroying the world?"
"Tsk tsk tsk, truly a born Saint; such compassion truly makes admire."
Her tone carried a bit of sarcasm, though it was unclear if she was mocking this "pretentious" teacher in front of her, or her own thorough failure.
Dorothy: "....."
Damn, the real Lord Demon King really has a nasty personality, huh? Here I am worrying about you, and you have to poke like a hedgehog?
Heh, I think you're just scared of others caring about you.
The hobody witch secretly muttered to herself.
However, she did indeed get hit by Lord Demon King's words. Thinking that the forr Lord Demon King was about to die made Dorothy feel inexplicably sad.
Although the Artie she knew ascending to beco the New Demon King was a choice that benefited everyone, the hobody witch still felt uncomfortable, very, very upset.
"So, is there really no other way?"
Dorothy asked in a calm voice. She really didn't want a situation that required sacrificing one person to fulfill another. She greedily wanted everyone to be happy.
And hearing the hobody witch's unwilling inquiry, Astimos also sighed.
"If it were a weaker version of in other tilines, perhaps I could survive as an incarnation, but for already seated on the throne, abdicating ans death."
"Actually, it can't really be considered death; it's just gradual wear and tear. I will be gradually replaced by this little one, and this process will take thirty thousand years. When you return to the future, the Demon King you see will be this little one."
"Besides, don't feel sad, because truthfully, for the future, Astimos has long since died. The one talking to you now is rely a remnant soul of the deceased."
"What's more, this was originally just my plan to seek transcendence; you were just a pawn used by . You should be angry and resentful towards , the chess player, not empathize. Don't transfer your feelings for that little one onto ; it only makes nauseous."
"My life of failure was aningless anyway, and attaining transcendence this way is just as well. I have no attachnt to this damn world."
The Lord Demon King's tone was very rational, without a hint of a dying person's madness, but rather extrely open-minded.
Dorothy looked up and t her gaze, their two pairs of dark eyes crossing. The hobody witch found that this Witch King's eyes were truly pure and rational, living up to her title as the King of Wisdom.
