Inside the church atop the back of the Great Dragon.
Dorothy and Denisha carried the unconscious Adam into the church, where the hobody witch quickly examined the condition of this priest. She couldn't help but frown.
The good news was that Adam was not in any life-threatening danger; he just needed a good rest and would wake up soon.
The bad news was that this seemingly major player of a father seed to have gotten his account suspended.
Because most of his knowledge of Mysticism was sealed, Dorothy was not certain about Adam's exact situation. However, based on the little bit of basic knowledge that was retained, it appeared he had suffered a backlash from his own power.
Father Adam was not a Mage, but a Cleric who used Holy Light as his strength. Such clergy derived their power entirely from the grace of the deities, which naturally ant what was given could also be taken back. Even worse, as long as one maintained this faith connection, the deities could monitor you and, even more ruthlessly, remotely detonate the power within you, causing you to explode on the spot.
Adam seed to be well aware of this, so as soon as he escaped from danger, he took matters into his own hands, decisively abandoning his faith and cutting off his connection with the Lord of Glory, his original object of worship.
In layman's terms, he had forcibly disconnected from the network.
By doing this, he no longer had to worry about being remotely controlled by the Church that ca to its senses later. However, he now not only suffered from the spiritual backlash of having abandoned his faith but also lost the source of his power.
Unlike Mages, whose power cos from their own ditation and practice, clergy's power cos entirely from deities. They cannot conjure the Power of Holy Light on their own; they need to offer devout faith, which the deities then process into the Power of Holy Light, which is then fed back to the cleric.
In other words, once he had abandoned his faith, Adam also lost his replenishnt channel for the Power of Holy Light.
Although there was still so Power of Holy Light remaining inside Father Adam, this power was indeed diminishing with every use. If used sparingly, he could still take action a few more tis, but after it ran out, he would lose his strength completely.
"Ah, I thought I could ride on soone else's coattails to victory this ti, but turns out the coattails turned into a limited-ti trial."
Dorothy thought sowhat disappointedly.
Then she turned her head to glance at Miss Denisha beside her, who still hadn't fully recovered from the shocks of the recent events.
If God King had been awakened, then Adam's problem would be relatively easy to solve, after all, the Angel Witch, like the angels, had the power to purify the Power of Faith into the Power of Holy Light.
But...
Never mind, even if Denisha truly awakened, she would just start as a witch of plain Talent and couldn't possibly start off as an Angel Witch.
To evolve into an Angel Witch later, they would first need to find an angel, then capture and examine it closely, acquire the angel's Talent template, and then use the power of evolution unique to witches to replicate it. It was not sothing that could be done in a day or two.
Distant waters can't quench the imdiate thirst.
"In the end, I still have to rely on myself, others really can't be counted on."
Dorothy sighed and then resigned to her fate.
She went straight to her room, then to the cellar...
Well, given that the entire church was being carried on the back of a Great Dragon, she wasn't sure if it could still be called a cellar. In any case, she went into that happy place for witches and brought back a bunch of Magic Tos.
Ti was now of the essence, there was no chance for her to slowly and sneakily grow stronger; she had to crunch her way through the hard work, getting a grip on one or two spells for self-protection at the least.
She did still have about 100 Mana of Mage Magic Power inside her, and although weak, it shouldn't go to waste.
Only...
"Dorothy, what should we do next? Is there anything I can help with?"
When the hobody witch, clutching the tos and preparing to start cramming for a quick fix, Miss Denisha, finally coming to her senses from the successive upheavals, asked a bit hesitantly.
She was just an ordinary village girl, a shepherdess, who first ca close to being burned as a witch. In desperation, she was then abruptly rescued by the priest and her childhood sweetheart, and even now, the very church she was familiar with was being carried across the sky on the back of a Great Dragon that existed only in myths.
Such incessant twists were indeed too overwhelming for a sheltered village girl. The fact that she managed to stay sowhat calm and logically inquire showed her to be of comndable character.
"Uh..."
Being observed by the would-be Divine King, frankly, even soone as nonchalant as Dorothy felt rather pressured.
She wasn't quite sure how to face this "Childhood Sweetheart".
After all, the hobody witch was well aware that everything happening was nothing more than a dream constructed by Witch's Night; who was to say that the true consciousness of the Divine King wasn't secretly observing everything? If she behaved improperly towards Miss Denisha now, she might get blacklisted by the Divine King.
But it also didn't feel right to treat this Miss Childhood Sweetheart with all the ceremonies due to eting the Witch King; that seed a bit too out of line, and sohow awkward.
