Unfortunately, such a good mood lasted only a few seconds because the stepdaughter turned her head and looked at Adam. Though she didn't speak, Lilith could still read the question "Can this woman really be trusted?" in the girl's eyes.
Before Lilith had a chance to get angry, the answer from the man who had pined for her for years once again made her heart blossom with joy.
"Dorothy, rest assured, Lilith is trustworthy; you can truly think of her as your mother," he said.
Father Adam spoke thus.
Upon hearing this, any slight discontent that the Vampire Queen might have had instantly disappeared, and the brilliant smile on her face shone even brighter.

"How did I do?"
Lilith once again discerned this solicitation for praise from the silent yet smiling stepdaughter's eyes.
What a crafty little thing; her scheming was evident, but Lilith thought, 'Never mind, that was indeed a beautiful assist.'
Even if the Vampire Queen felt slightly irked at being manipulated, more overwhelming was the joy of her beloved's affirmation. She gladly accepted this flattering assist.
This girl was born to be a jester.
That was Lilith's first impression of her stepdaughter.

"Tut, tut, tut, you and your husband are still the sa, not a bit has changed,"
Dorothy thought to herself.
After all, it was her who had played matchmaker between Adam and Annie back in their courting days, taking on a worry normally unbecoming of her young age to solve her father's solitude.
The Queen of Assists, she was quite skilled at it.
And this stepmother was really easy to manipulate; just work out a way to get Adam to complint her a few tis, and she'd beco so happy she'd lose her bearings.

Dorothy slightly despised the stepmother for losing IQ points in love, but the hobody witch's face lit up with an even brighter smile. Although her face was veiled, her crescent-shaped peachy eyes were truly enchanting – even the Vampire Queen, Lilith, was montarily distracted by them.
Fortunately, she was quickly shielded by Adam.
"All right, Dorothy, let's get to the point. What exactly do you want to do?"
Father completely overlooked his daughter's charm – after all, as a father, he couldn't really tell whether his daughter was pretty or not; no matter how beautiful, to him she was still that troubleso child. He asked sternly.
"Nothing much, I just thought of repurposing the family church with so friends, maybe create a sect for fun, so I was hoping for so advice from you, Father, as a professional clergy mber."
The hobody witch revealed her true intentions.
Father Adam had himself stated he was a Cardinal in the Church, a significant status only beneath the Pope himself. He was bound to know the ins and outs of running a church.
There's an old saying, 'A family with an old person is like having a treasure;' and indeed, a treasured father like hers should not be wasted – he ought to shine in the field he excels in.
"Nonsense…"
The mont Adam heard his daughter's words, his brows furrowed.
Religion isn't sothing you can just play with!
As a forr high-ranking official of the Church, Adam was all too clear on the madness and ugliness of religion, how fanatical believers weren't even human anymore but corpses animated by their faith, like those frenzied Witch Hunters.
No one understood the terror of belief better than him.
How could he possibly let his daughter ddle with sothing so dangerous?
"I asked you to be a good nun, which you never took to heart, always offloading the work to Denisha. Weren't you set on being a witch? Now instead of studying your magic, you're ddling with religion."
"Dorothy, look at what's beco of ; you should realize that ssing with religion is a dead end. It's better for you to focus on being a witch; magic has more of a future than faith."
"Take your father's advice; the waters of religion are too deep for you to navigate."
Adam knew all too well that his daughter was headstrong, and her words probably weren't ant as a discussion but more of a notification. However, he began his earnest attempts to dissuade her.
"Father, magic alone isn't enough to save the world. You've seen how insane the Witch Hunters have beco recently; the Church of Glory's faith has gone out of control. We must establish a new sect to correct these wrongful beliefs."
"Father, didn't you always want to be a hero? A real hero wouldn't stand by while innocent people suffer and not seek to save them."
The hobody witch just stared intently into Adam's eyes, knowing exactly how to persuade her 'hero-dreaming' father, as good people are always so easy to manipulate.
"This ti, Denisha and I were saved, but right now, Father, how many innocent girls do you think the Witch Hunters have tied to the Burning Stake?"
"The world is sick, it needs a hero to save her. Father, if not now, when do you intend to fulfill your dream?"
Dorothy delivered her final blow to her well-aning father.
Adam's innate sense of justice was ever strong. While he could deceive himself living in a secluded village, now that he had stepped out, he couldn't pretend to ignore the world around him. If it weren't for his daughter holding him back, this Father would have likely already dashed forth toward his dreams.
