Half an hour later, Dorothy sat in the theater's reception room, flipping through a stack of scripts, and the more she read, the more her head ached.
"So, Audrey, are you sure you're in the art business?"
Eventually, she couldn't hold back any longer and asked her freshly grood junior sister who sat nearby.
Next to her, Madeline couldn't help but snicker at those words, while Little Fox's face turned red with embarrassnt. Her head was bowed so low it was almost buried in her chest.
On the table, her external voice device—the Fox Doll—was hopping mad.
"Sister, why are you laughing at too?"
"Besides, art has its specialties, and I specialize in performance, in acting. Scriptwriting wasn't supposed to be my job; that's the work of a playwright."
Little Fox puffed her cheeks out like buns, trying to defend herself.
However, as she spoke, she deflated on her own.
When her sister had given her the task earlier, she had thought she would really do well this ti, striving to help her sister. But so things just don't turn out well no matter how hard you try. Creativity relies solely on Inspiration, and when Inspiration runs dry, no matter how hard you think, anything you write would not even interest a dog.
Moreover, she wasn't good at writing scripts. Otherwise, her Magic Network account wouldn't have remained so lukewarm and obscure, just another minor internet celebrity.
Though the puppet theater form of performance indeed had a narrow audience, and her clumsy hands ant her puppet actors weren't the most attractive, a solid script plus her heavenly voice could easily produce a modest hit, if not a smash hit.
Alas, she was stuck performing the sa old classic scripts, ones that Witches had grown up watching until they were sick of them.
But what could she do? She was helpless too.
In the art circle, a good script is hard to co by. Once a great script is released, it's snatched up by the big theaters for exclusive shows, and the Witch World takes intellectual property very seriously. You can't just plagiarize or knock off soone else's work just because it's popular. Even if you envy another's script, you can only watch helplessly on the sidelines.
Of course, given her family's status in the City of Venus, they certainly weren't short of great scripts. However, due to intellectual property rights binding those exclusive plays almost directly to real-life identities, if she perford those family-only scripts on the Magic Network, her true identity would be unmasked in minutes.
Her mothers did offer to reserve a couple of great scripts for her, but Audrey declined.
After all, she was sowhat self-aware. Being such a hobody, even the best scripts would gather dust in her hands. It would be a greater sha if great plays that could have been seen by more were buried because of her.
She had tried writing scripts herself early on, but, to put it mildly, after she tried performing her self-written scripts on the Magic Network's puppet theater, her already modest fan base plumted, with a bunch of people unfollowing her.
That was quite disheartening.
"Sister, is what I write really that bad?"
She had no friends before, and getting feedback from others was difficult, as the netizens were all too keen to spew venom and unhelpful. Now that she finally had a sister, Audrey was able to voice her doubts. Her captivating fox eyes sparkled with expectation as she gazed at her sister.
Dorothy: "....."
Oh, this...
Seeing her junior sister like this, the Hobody Witch opened her mouth but was montarily speechless, pondering how to gently convey that acting really wasn't Audrey's forte.
What she had written, could that even be called a script? It was so rough, it would be maligned as toilet paper.
After all...
"Why did the Princess herself take out the Magic Wand and defeat the stepmother? Where is the Prince? Wasn't this supposed to be a love story between a Princess and a Prince? Why does the Prince only show up at the wedding ceremony?"
The Hobody Witch casually picked up a stack of scripts and asked.
"Because that is a Princess! As a Princess, she definitely couldn't be weak—a weak Princess isn't realistic. And such a powerful Princess proposing to the Prince, if he didn't accept, he would be quite unappreciative. The Prince is the reward for the Princess defeating the stepmother; I think that's reasonable. Only the powerful deserve beautiful lovers; that's what love is."
Little Fox swished her tail and asserted earnestly.
Dorothy: "...."
Ah, this... Considering the worldview of Witches, she had to admit her junior sister made so sense, but...
"And this one, isn't this supposed to be a story about a worthless Prince's rise to greatness? So why is it that the Princess keeps acting throughout, and goddamn it, the Princess can even resurrect on the spot after dying and rejoin the battle? Wouldn't it normally be the Prince who struggles to find a way to resurrect the Princess, thereby deepening their Favorability and bond? If you write it like this, what use is the Prince aside from being a cheerleader? If the Princess is so formidable, why would she fall for such a loser, and so hopelessly at that? Isn't that a bit too rigged?"
She picked up another script and asked.
