"Misunderstanding? I don’t think there’s any misunderstanding between us." Pei Yan tilted his head, his gaze sweeping through the tense crowd, finally locking onto Sifuer with a sigh: "You want to say you’re not an accomplice? From what I can see, although you didn’t participate in his actions, you consented, didn’t you? Miss Sifuer, your actions have hurt ."
"Mr. Shitang, I know we’ve made the wrong choice, but I implore you! I implore you to understand, we can return to the negotiating table and talk things over slowly. As the descendant of the Barbaros Clan of the Kataraga Autonomous Territory, Sifuer Barbaros is willing to offer compensation for her disrespectful actions towards you." Despite feeling angry and uneasy about Pei Yan’s aggressive manner, Sifuer still steeled herself and stepped forward, her posture sincere.
"Phew!" Exhaling a smoke ring, his chanized, cold fingers gently pinching the bridge of his nose, Pei Yan looked at Raphael, who was hiding behind the crowd, clutching a bottle tightly in his hand and staring at him with a vicious gaze. Pei Yan shook his head helplessly and said softly: "Miss Sifuer, I am willing to accept your apology and return to the negotiating table, but the prerequisite is that this person must die."
With Pei Yan’s words, both Sifuer’s and Raphael’s expressions changed repeatedly, Raphael feeling a mix of terror and secret relief over Pei Yan’s ignorance, while Sifuer’s group was filled with sha and anger.
"How dare you! How dare you! Refuse an invitation after hearing the surna of a Demon God descendant!" Unable to contain himself, Xiaonai drew his sword and charged forward from behind Sifuer.
Pei Yan was unaware that his previous words had violated the taboo of the Hell Plane, but he was already prepared for combat. At that mont, his body swiftly retreated, the cigarette held in his mouth was spat out as the face mask instantly closed.
The lit cigarette traced a fiery line as it was launched from his mouth, and as it collided with the air near Xiaonai, who was charging forward, it exploded instantly. In the blink of an eye, Xiaonai beca a blazing figure, yet to Pei Yan’s slight surprise, the scorching flas did not impede his attack. Undeterred, Xiaonai continued to advance, wielding the fiery sword aid directly at Pei Yan, cutting forcefully downward. However, before the fiery blade could strike, Xiaonai let out a pitiful cry, stumbled, and fell to the ground, his body curling up like a shrimp, rolling and writhing continuously on the ground.
Sifuer watched with red eyes as her subordinate was engulfed in flas. She couldn’t understand what Pei Yan had done to make Xiaonai’s entire body ignite, nor why the flas continued to burn even as he struggled frantically, growing fiercer instead of extinguishing. Sifuer couldn’t comprehend what thod Pei Yan used to reduce her stalwart subordinate to such a state of agony, emitting such piercing screams, knowing full well that these cries were not caused by re flas. Though the fire could indeed harm Xiaonai, it shouldn’t have been sufficient to strip away his dignity and make him wail so despairingly.
"Do you also wish to dance?"
Pei Yan’s cold, mocking voice reached Sifuer’s ears, causing her to jerk her head up. Her close attendant, Hel, already held a longsword, standing protectively in front of her. Her body trembled, fear overcoming her as Pei Yan’s unknown techniques relentlessly shattered the psychological defenses of this proud Demon Race aristocrat. Was her subordinate’s fierce battle rely a dance that delighted Pei Yan’s eyes? How arrogant and conceited, yet Sifuer could only hold her breath and accept.
For a voice in her heart warned her not to reject Pei Yan’s demands, or both she and her subordinates would perish here.
Despite having absolute confidence in her uncle Bailang’s abilities, Sifuer’s inner resolve crumbled at this mont!
"Lower your sword and let him pass!"
"But...," Hel glanced back at Sifuer, whose hair near her temples was drenched in cold sweat, arguing.
"I said, lower your sword and let him pass!"
At Sifuer’s vehent shout, her followers withdrew their longswords and retreated to either side, while the group accompanying Raphael assessed the situation, noting Sifuer’s compromise and Raphael collapsed on the ground like a stray dog. With complex expressions, they exchanged glances and obediently chose to step back.
Pei Yan was quite pleased with the effect produced by mimicking a classic boastful line from Master Ban, the presence of his face mask adeptly concealing the grin blossoming on his lips. He began to relish this thrill of controlling everything, wielding power over life and death.
Suppressing the soaring emotions, Pei Yan strode forward, heedless of anyone else. As he passed by Sifuer, her weary voice erged from the side: "Now, can you spare my subordinate?"
Upon hearing this, Pei Yan hesitated for a mont before snapping his fingers without turning back, retracting the carbon monoxide that was continuously injected around Xiaonai’s body and deactivating the nanochanical insect that had been planted in him during a al beforehand. Having completed this, Pei Yan, indifferent to Xiaonai’s fate, leisurely proceeded toward Raphael.
"Don’t co any closer! Take one more step, and I’ll crush this bottle!" Faced with Pei Yan’s relentless advance, Raphael, his face flushed red, raised a bottle containing the mother insect’s liquid and shouted in a desperate threat.
"Save it!" Pei Yan responded as he activated the light saber in his hand, coughing lightly: "I think I’ve ntioned that I don’t care about the life or death of the Demon Race here! With that said, his gaze shifted inquisitively between Raphael and Bailang: "You couldn’t have made it this far relying solely on deceitful sches. If I’m not mistaken, Bailang should be the strongest in this shelter, followed by you. I’ve yet to battle a master from the Demon Race. Co on, end this farce like a man with one final fight."
"Ha, ha, ha, ha!" Upon hearing Pei Yan’s words, Raphael broke into a cold laugh. Knowing he couldn’t escape today, he realized this man wasn’t joking. Even if he shattered the bottle of mother insect liquid or unlocked the space to flee, Pei Yan would relentlessly hunt him down until his death.
Why! Why! He had planned every step ticulously, just to survive and thrive in this apocalypse. And he was oh-so-close to succeeding. Why! An outsider’s single misunderstanding should not nullify all the effort he had sacrificed.
Death! Let it be death! If I must die, let take you to et the Demon God together!
Sword edge slashed! Observing the frenzy intensifying in Raphael’s eyes, Bailang seized the opportunity, subtly twitching his finger to summon a longsword that appeared behind Raphael, targeting his wrist holding the crystal bottle and hacking at it.
"Still want to plot against ! Let’s die together!" With the sword descending, Raphael, originally standing in place, suddenly misted, evading the slash before swiftly solidifying to firmly grip the crystal bottle, shouting vehently as he crushed it.
The next mont, as the crystal bottle shattered, dense green liquid spurted out, a cloud of white mist suddenly billowing from Raphael’s wrist.
