Looking up at the sky, a dark cloud shrouded this place, with red and blue lights intertwined within it. In the flashes of thunder, lightning, and firestones occasionally fell from the sky to the ground, and the center of this doomsday scene was the target he ca to find.
"Pei Yan! Are you, are you two okay?" Rushing into the outskirts of the battle ring, Ye Ruozai greeted only Pei Yan, not because he didn't care about Pei Jin's safety, but because aside from the chanical Pei Yan, the person standing next to him could completely be said to be a stranger.
From her figure and remaining appearance, Ye Ruozai roughly judged that she should be Pei Jin, but her appearance had undergone a trendous change. Her slender figure was now covered in large patches of dragon scales, her fair and smooth jade-like fingers had transford into two pairs of sharp claws, and a pair of strange horns, like those of the Demon Race or Dragon Race, protruded from her forehead. Her pupils emanated a fierce light akin to that of an ancient behemoth, making one dare not look directly.
Just by looking at her appearance, Ye Ruozai might have thought she was Suhabaru's reincarnated soul, but just by her exuding aura, he could tell the difference between her and Suhabaru was as vast as that between a house cat and a lion.
"Hah! You guys won! What about Xia Yu and Old Zheng?" Ye Ruozai's arrival temporarily announced a pause to the intense battle. Pei Yan looked exhaustedly at Ye Ruozai, exhaling a long breath.
"We won! Xia Yu and Old Zheng have already withdrawn from the competition due to excessive exhaustion; you don't have to worry about them being in any life-threatening danger." Ye Ruozai, knowing what Pei Yan was concerned about, imdiately conveyed this news to ease his mind.
Hearing this result, Pei Yan and his sister exchanged a glance and a relieved smile appeared on their faces, as letting their friends deal with twice as strong foes had burdened Pei Yan with imnse psychological pressure from the mont he made that decision. He feared his choice would result in his companions' casualties. Now the outco was within the acceptable range, and all that remained was for him to deliver the decisive strike to end this battle.
With this in mind, Pei Yan couldn't help but raise his head and look at the nearby Flal with a smirk, "Looks like I won our bet this ti!"
"Lanloste, that fool! Even with five Round Table Knights, he managed to lose! Has the Lanloste family and the church nurtured a waste over so many years?" Flal cursed under his breath in response to Pei Yan's provocation, then glanced at the newly arrived Ye Ruozai, feeling increasingly frustrated as the situation slipped out of his control and veered toward an unforeseeable direction.
When did all this begin? Was it from when he chose to ambush the remnants of the Investigation Hall? Perhaps. If only he had known these two would explode with such power afterward, he would have chosen to stand by or allied with the Spirit Monster Plane to eliminate the enemy in the first place.
But alas, there's no turning back ti. Although his decision at that mont was poor, it wasn't irreversible. Was it his mistake that allowed the Pei Family siblings to successfully ambush and eliminate Ferenc? Yes! That indeed was a major blunder! But leveraging the Magic Realm's strong foundation, he still turned the situation around, forcing the Investigation Hall into a passive stance.
Then where did it all go wrong! Flal thought as he looked up at the siblings in front of him. Yes! The problem lay with them from the start! It was due to underestimating the strength of the two Children of Origin from the Keystone Plane that the battle ended up in a deadlock, resulting in the current situation. Upon reflection, he recalled the chaotic scene between the four earlier.
As Xia Yu and Ye Ruozai engaged in battles with the three knights respectively, Flal and Moira were also fiercely fighting against Pei Yan and the others, while Azar, newly freed from a parallel space and almost mistaken by teammates, was also involved in the fray.
"Aren't you going to keep an eye on your companion? That girl in your team seems to be getting beaten up one-sidedly!" Moira taunted while dodging Pei Yan's attacks, attempting to shake his resolve.
Moira's words were unnecessary, as Pei Yan could already see the tense battle situation for Xia Yu and Ye Ruozai through the images transmitted by the nanobots hidden around the battlefield. Unlike others, Ye Ruozai had been given hints by Gu Shenghui, who ntioned Zheng Jia Ru and Ye Ruozai would bring a surprise in a critical mont. He believed that soone like Old Gu wouldn't mislead him during such a crucial competition without a reason.
However, Xia Yu was different from Wang Wenze, Ye Jiumu, and others; she was among the first batch of friends Pei Yan encountered upon entering the world of superhumans. They were well aware of each other's capabilities; he acknowledged Xia Yu's abilities. Yet, this competition was exceptionally unfavorable for her, as two waves of strong enemies countered her one after another, restricting her capabilities and preventing her from fully displaying her strength.
The thought of her potentially failing or even dying made Pei Yan's previously stable emotions beco agitated and uneasy. Sensing her brother's emotional changes, Pei Jin promptly reminded, "Stay calm! Don't fall for their trap! Since you've made your decision, don't get caught up in second-guessing. If we lose this side, it'd be a crushing defeat with no chance of recovery!"
His sister's words were a wake-up call for Pei Yan. While pondering how to solve the predicant, Lin Junzhao, who had been silently observing the battle in his mind, suddenly suggested with a smile, "It seems it's my turn to act. You guys don't need to worry about that little girl! Her potential is far beyond your imagination! The reason she hasn't shown her might is rely that the timing isn't right!
