Nathaniel Monroe stepped out for a smoke. Just as he lit his cigarette, he saw Chloe Reed and a man walk past in the hallway up ahead.
’They seed... a little too close, didn’t they?’
’Why is she holding onto his arm like that?’
’And that guy isn’t Walker!’
’Walker’s with !’
Nathaniel Monroe forgot all about his cigarette. He spun around, went back into the private room, and leaned in to whisper to Walker Grant, "Walker, I just saw Chloe. She was with so guy..."
Walker Grant raised a hand, cutting him off. He shot to his feet, his dark, almond-shaped eyes turning sharp. "You, co with ."
An inexplicable chill ran down Nathaniel Monroe’s spine.
’Don’t get the wrong idea!’
’I’m not trying to bad-mouth Chloe!’
He scrambled to follow Walker out. Once outside, he quickly recounted what he had just seen.
The hard edge in Walker Grant’s eyes softened slightly. "Which way?" he asked in a low voice.
Nathaniel Monroe pointed. "Over there."
Walker Grant imdiately turned and headed in that direction.
But this hallway was lined with private rooms. Was he really going to check them one by one?
Well... guess what?
He really was checking them one by one.
Trailing behind him, a helpless Nathaniel Monroe said, "Walker, why don’t we just check the security footage?"
Walker Grant glanced back at him. "Great idea. You go do it."
Nathaniel Monroe felt an inexplicable chill and didn’t dare say another word.
「A few minutes earlier.」
Chloe Reed had just finished asking her questions when she noticed Owen Sterling clutching his stomach in discomfort.
She frowned. "Are you going to be sick?"
"Sorry." With a pained expression, Owen Sterling got up and stumbled to the restroom. Soon, the sound of him vomiting echoed from inside.
Chloe Reed turned to leave, but before she even reached the door, a wave of dizziness washed over her.
She steadied herself against the doorfra, dazed for a mont, but her expression quickly turned cold.
’I barely drank anything. How could I be this dizzy?’
’And it only started after I ca into this room.’
Her gaze swept around the room and landed on an incense burner on a nearby table, smoke curling up from it.
Chloe Reed didn’t dare to linger. She opened the door, intent on getting out.
But to her dismay, two n were standing in the doorway, leering at her with malicious grins.
"Didn’t think our little fishing trip would actually pay off today."
One of the n said, then shoved Chloe Reed.
Chloe was pushed back into the room.
Her head spun, and she could barely stay on her feet. She dug her nails into her thigh, trying to stay lucid. "Who are you?"
The two n had already entered. One of them lunged forward, grabbing her and forcing her down onto the sofa.
"We just got out of prison, and life’s been pretty boring. So we ca out looking for a little fun. It’s your lucky day, gorgeous. You ran into us two brothers. We’re gonna make sure you have a real good ti."
One man pinned her down while the other started tearing at her clothes.
Terror filled Chloe Reed’s face. "Let go! Let go! Don’t touch ! I can give you money!"
"Where’s the fun in that?"
Pinned to the sofa, Chloe Reed’s struggles were feeble.
BAM!
Just then, the restroom door was thrown open. Owen Sterling charged out. "Let her go!"
"Oh, look. She’s got her lover boy with her," the man sneered, then kicked Owen Sterling square in the stomach.
Owen Sterling collapsed to the ground in pain. But he still struggled back to his feet and threw a punch at the man.
Caught off guard, the man was stunned for a second.
