Chloe Reed quickly pulled her hand back.
There wasn’t a trace of warmth in her eyes—only the sa cold indifference as always.
"Why should I wait for you?"
Her retort was like a splash of ice water on Walker Grant, instantly dousing the excitent that had just begun to stir within him.
The stark contrast was too much for Walker Grant to handle. He took a step forward, wanting to take her hand.
But she pulled away.
His sharp brows furrowed. He suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders and pinned her against the wall.
There was no escape.
"Chloe."
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he spoke her na.
He moved closer and closer, trying to get intimate.
But Chloe Reed turned her head away, her rejection unmistakable. "If there’s nothing else, you can go."
"We’re a married couple; we can’t live apart," Walker Grant said in a low voice, his eyes fixed on the gentle curve of her profile.
Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly. "As far as I’m concerned, we stopped being a couple a long ti ago."
"We’re not divorced yet," Walker Grant murmured. "You can’t just deny our relationship."
He moved closer again, trapping her between the wall and his chest.
"Chloe, open the door. Let in."
His presence was overwhelming, his cool scent enveloping her, leaving her no room to escape.
Chloe Reed put her hands out to push him. "I’m not letting you in. Go away!"
But Walker Grant caught her hands. "Are you going to use your fingerprint, or should I use the passcode?"
"Are you kidding ? How could you possibly know the passcode to my place!" Chloe Reed’s eyes widened slightly.
But Walker Grant’s lips curved into a smirk. "Chloe, we’ve been together for eight years. I know you very well."
As soon as he finished speaking, he began to punch in the code.
When the chi indicating the lock had successfully opened sounded, Chloe Reed was utterly floored.
’How could he know!’
’Ever since he showed up with a locksmith and our marriage certificate last ti, I changed the lock to a passcode I’ve never used before!’
She demanded coldly, "How did you know?"
"Give a kiss, and I’ll tell you." Walker Grant opened the door and strode inside as if he owned the place.
Chloe Reed gritted her teeth. "You’re not welco here!"
But the man acted as if he hadn’t heard a thing, heading straight for her bedroom.
Seeing this, Chloe Reed said, "Fine. You can stay here. I’ll get a hotel."
With that, she turned to leave.
But Walker Grant’s voice drifted from behind her. "You either stay here, or you go back to Jardinelle. You won’t succeed in getting a hotel room."
Chloe Reed stopped in her tracks.
’He really could do it. With a single command, no hotel in the city would dare to let her check in.’
’Those people knew full well which was the lesser evil: turning away one custor or offending the CEO of a major corporation.’
Chloe Reed’s eyes blazed with fury. "You’re a bastard!"
Walker Grant had already taken off his suit jacket. His dark, almond-shaped eyes were fixed on her. "You’re destined to spend the rest of your life with this bastard, Chloe. Just accept it."
’Why the hell should she just accept it!’
’If she couldn’t get a hotel, she could just crash at a convenience store for the night, whatever it took!’
’Bottom line, there was no way she was living under the sa roof as him!’
She was determined to leave.
Walker Grant saw right through her. He strode forward and, before she could even leave the room, swept her up into his arms.
"Put down."
Chloe Reed hamred her fists against him.
But Walker Grant paid her no mind, carrying her into the bedroom and laying her down on the bed. Then, he wrapped his arms tightly around her.
