"What could I possibly gain from this?" Sunny Reed said, her voice full of hurt. "Mom and Dad treat so well, and you take such good care of , too. I have no reason to fra my sister."
She sobbed softly, looking incredibly hurt and aggrieved.
Walker Grant’s handso brows knitted together, and a chilling air settled around him. He lowered his gaze, his fingers drumming lightly on his knee.
After a long mont, he finally said, "She would never do sothing like this."
Sunny Reed bit her lip. "Walker, I get what you’re saying. Don’t worry, I won’t hold my sister responsible. It was probably just a careless mistake. I don’t bla her."
She grabbed a tissue to wipe her tears away, saying with a pained, helpless sigh, "But what can I do? She’s always misunderstanding our relationship. Julian and I may not have been together for long, but I love him deeply. My sister just doesn’t get it, and I don’t know what to do."
She swallowed her pride to keep the peace, acting magnanimously despite her broken bone.
A wave of inexplicable irritation washed over Walker Grant.
But his objective had been t, so there was no longer any reason to stay. He stood up, his tone softening sowhat. "Get so rest, Sister-in-law. Don’t worry about the company. I’ll have soone assist you, and I’ll also find soone to teach you about business."
Sunny Reed looked at him and said with so hesitation, "If you’re so good to , my sister will just get the wrong idea again. We should forget it. I can manage on my own."
But Walker replied, "It’s settled. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving."
The door to the hospital room closed.
All traces of innocence and hurt vanished from Sunny Reed’s face. She slamd her fist on the bed.

At noon the next day, Chloe Reed was released.
After a night in custody, she instinctively squinted as the sudden sunlight enveloped her.
"Chloe!"
Just then, Iris Yates’s voice called out. She rushed over and threw her arms around her.
"Chloe, I just found out what happened. You scared to death."
Chloe Reed quickly hugged her back. "It’s okay, I’m fine."
She herself was surprised to have been released so quickly.

However, now that she was out, she decided not to dwell on it.
Iris Yates looked her up and down, her heart aching. "My Cherie, you’ve gotten so thin. Let treat you to sothing delicious."
Chloe Reed’s lips curved into a smile. "I’d love that."
A car horn honked, then another. Chloe Reed and Iris Yates turned in unison to see two cars pull over to the curb, one after the other.
The front car door opened, and Walker Grant erged, tall and lean. His dark, intense eyes fixed on Chloe Reed’s face as he approached her.
The door of the car behind also opened, and Preston Vance got out. Seeing Walker Grant go to Chloe, he raised an eyebrow slightly and didn’t approach.
He simply looked at Chloe Reed and said, "Miss Reed, I’m here to fulfill my promise."
Iris Yates squeezed Chloe Reed’s hand and whispered, "Holy shit, that’s the eldest son of the Vance family! Why is he here? Since when are you two so close?!"
