"Chloe!"
"Oh my god!"
Several cries of alarm rang out.
Noah Grant’s small figure instantly dashed over and jumped into the swimming pool, struggling to reach out for Sunny Reed, trying to save his mom.
This was followed by a huge splash.
Walker Grant had jumped in.
Neither Sunny Reed nor Chloe Reed knew how to swim.
After they plunged in, Chloe Reed let go of her, watching her flail in the water.
She, in turn, spread her arms and let herself sink to the bottom of the pool.
An imnse fear gripped her. mories of nearly drowning as a child flooded back, and she trembled uncontrollably in terror.
That was why she was terrified of swimming.
The feeling of suffocation would drive her mad.
Walker Grant knew this. He had never let her near the edge of a swimming pool all these years.
But now, she was watching him.
’Who will he choose?’
In the face of life and death, she didn’t believe any of his so-called explanations. Only his actions could prove everything.
The light and shadows flickered. It was getting harder to hold her breath, and bubbles stread upward.
Then, she saw Walker Grant grab Noah Grant, lift him onto the pool deck, and hand him to the people on the side.
He then turned and swam toward her.
But a mont later, Sunny Reed, who wasn’t far from him, seed to run out of energy to struggle and began to sink.
She saw him go save Sunny Reed.
Chloe Reed closed her eyes.
Utterly heartbroken.
’In his world, Noah Grant was first, Sunny Reed was second, and I am third.’
’No.’
’That list doesn’t even include the others.’
’What if Madam Grant and his parents were added to the mix?’
’Then I probably wouldn’t have a place at all.’
This was the man she had loved for eight years.
Tears stread down her face, only to rge with the pool water. She gave up the struggle, allowing water to fill her mouth and nose.
But soone pulled her from the water, finally getting her onto the pool deck.
Gasping for fresh air, she coughed violently. Soaking wet and disheveled, she was a complete ss.
"Waaah, Mom!"
Noah Grant’s sharp cry rang out as he hugged Sunny Reed.
Walker Grant also got out of the pool. He started walking directly toward Chloe Reed, but Noah Grant grabbed his leg. "Uncle, save my mom! Waaaah, I don’t want my mom to die! Waaaah..."
The little one’s cries were pitiful. Soaking wet, he easily stirred up sympathy.
Nathaniel Monroe imdiately went over and hugged him. "Noah, don’t cry. Your mom is fine. Look, she’s already awake."
Noah Grant turned his head. Seeing that Sunny Reed was awake, he imdiately ran over to her.
Sunny Reed hugged him, her face pale, her gaze terrified as she looked at Chloe Reed not far away.
"What is the aning of this?!"
A cold wind blew past, and Chloe Reed’s body couldn’t stop shivering.
A man’s jacket, still warm from its owner, was draped over her shoulders, but she didn’t even look to see who had rescued her.
She just stared at Walker Grant, who was striding toward her.
"Chloe, what are you doing?"
He knelt before her. Seeing her pale, terrified expression, his heart ached with a suffocating pain.
"SLAP!"
A dull slap echoed.
Everyone who saw this gasped.
Chloe Reed had slapped Walker Grant!
How dare she!
He was the second young master of the Grant family, the President of the Grant Group! Who would dare touch him?
"Divorce."
Chloe Reed said hoarsely, her eyes as dark and cold as a black hole. "If sothing like this happens once, it will happen a second ti."
Walker Grant pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek. His expression was cold and sunken, but he showed no other emotion as he simply scooped her up into his arms.
He instructed Nathaniel Monroe, "Have soone prepare ginger soup."
Back in their room, he wrapped Chloe Reed’s body in a large, soft towel.
Chloe Reed’s eyes were vacant. "When did you get the vasectomy?"
